Jack Grealish (£6.9m) scored a late winner as Everton came from behind to end Crystal Palace’s 19-match unbeaten run.

Here are our Scout Notes from the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

GREALISH “GREAT”

Everton remain unbeaten at their new stadium, having snatched a 2-1 victory during added time.

Grealish scored the crucial winner, marking his first goal for the Toffees, when a clearance from Daniel Munoz (£5.6m) deflected off him and into the net.

Playing out on the left, Grealish had three shots in the box overall, as many as he had in Gameweeks 4-6 combined.

“I had two proper shots, I don’t know if you can count the goal as a shot. I said I want to get in those positions more and the manager actually said it to me at half-time, try and get in at the back post and I was there and the goals come from that, so I have the manager to thank.” – Jack Grealish

“Jack did great again. He had a couple of shots on target which were pretty comfortable for the goalkeeper to save but I have been pushing him. I want him to get goals as well as assists. He was Johnny on the spot, that’s the key to it isn’t it?” – David Moyes on Jack Grealish

This was Grealish’s last match for three weeks.

Having been left out of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, Grealish is ineligible to face his parent club, Manchester City, when Everton return to action in Gameweek 8.

The time off should benefit him, however, given that he’s been playing with an injury.

“Jack has had a couple of minor injuries which, over the last two games, have had to nurse him a wee bit. He’s had to miss the odd day’s training with it but his performances are not in question. He’s doing a lot of good things.” – David Moyes on Jack Grealish

NDIAYE PEN

With Grealish playing out wide on the left, Iliman Ndiaye (£6.5m) was deployed in the No 10 role in the absence of the suspended Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (£5.0m).

But he moved back to the right in the second half and looked much more effective, scoring from the penalty spot after Maxence Lacroix’s (£5.1m) clumsy challenge.

David Moyes certainly deserves a lot of credit for his side’s performance after the break.

They were like a different team, with Beto (£5.3m) providing a proper focal point.

Tyler Dibling (£5.5m), meanwhile, was poor on his first Premier League start and was replaced at half-time.

KEANE INJURY

Everton centre-back Michael Keane was unable to carry on in the second half, having picked up an injury.

Further assessment is now required.

“He’s got something in between his ribs. I don’t really know the outcome as I’ve not spoken to them yet to see what they say.” – David Moyes on Michael Keane

Before his withdrawal on 64 minutes, Keane had racked up 11 defensive contributions (DefCon).

Everton’s other defenders – James Tarkowski (£5.5m), Jack O’Brien (£5.0m) and Vitalli Mykolenko (£4.9m) – successfully hit the DefCon threshold, too.

MAGNIFICENT MUNOZ/MATETA WASTEFUL

Palace’s 19-game unbeaten run in all competitions has come to an end, with this their first loss since April.

However, they were by far the better team in the first half on Sunday, and created sufficient chances to put the game to bed.

Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.5m) was particularly wasteful, missing two gilt-edged opportunities.

The Frenchman, who will now report for international duty with France, has now missed seven big chances this season, the most of any player:

The goal was ultimately scored by Munoz instead, following a rapid counter-attack involving Ismaila Sarr (£6.5m), who provided the assist.

Sarr has now delivered three goals and one assist in five Premier League starts in 2025/26.

But Palace’s midweek European exertions finally seemed to catch up with them, as they paid the price for those earlier missed opportunities.

“It’s disappointing and very painful because it’s completely unnecessary. It’s our fault, it’s our responsibility. We played so well over 60 or 70 minutes with enough chances to decide the game. [Tiredness] would be a cheap excuse. We’re never looking for excuses. We could have decided it in the first 60 minutes, and we had then fresh legs on the pitch.

“That’s the missing link to be a top team in the Premier League, to take the chances to decide the game when you can decide it. We made one mistake in defence – we don’t make many mistakes in our defence – we made one, they got the penalty and the game was open. Then it was ‘okay, who gets the lucky punch and takes it’. Today it was Everton, last week we had the lucky punch, so that’s football. Again, I’ve seen over 60-70 minutes, a fantastic performance from us.” – Oliver Glasner

On the DefCon front, all three Palace centre-halves, as well as Munoz, Daichi Kamada (£5.0m) and Adam Wharton (£5.0m), hit the threshold.

So... Grealish to Sarr or roll?

    Haaland Gyökeres Pedro

I'd like to bench Reijnders until GW13 😀

Can easily roll. Bit of a bench headache most weeks, unless Reijnders is first on bench, as you said

There’s 3 regular keepers now with more pts per match than Raya at cheaper. There will likely be at least 3 rest of season.

Even if he is the top keeper for fantasy, you’re paying 0.5-1m for 0.2-0.3 pts edge, maybe. GK is the worst position for upside and to pay that premium, and it is the worst option to triple up on Arsenal.

Bought him for 5.5 and will bank the 0.1 as it enables me to upgrade Andersen to Timber. I just can't get excited about Andersen's 3 pointers and a tough fixture run

        3FT and £2.3 ITB.

        A - Raya & Andersen > Pope & Timber and roll 1 (bench Senesi)

I like A but it’s a bit sideways for 2 transfers used but medium to longer term it should work out.

I don't anticipate touching my defence for many weeks after these moves unless someone gets injured. I just think not having Timber could hurt me long term while Pope probably matches Raya and saves some cash.

I'd still have 2 FT in GW9 to start revamping my midfield (Grealish and Reijnders to Enzo and Sarr who can probably wait until GW10

Yeah Enzo also on my radar. I'm not convinced Palmer is coming back imminently and those CHE fixtures can't be ignored. What is your target midfield 5?

Yeah see below I am looking at Enzo and Sarr and a good 15 rather than Palmer and absolute fodder in 2 forward spots. At least it’s a backup plan but the issue for me is the 11 and 12 captain. It would be nice to have Palmer for those if he looks fit.

There's no way I would bench Senesi. Have you thought about doing A and playing 4 at the back?

I did consider it and Reijnders is probably the one to drop out but he has punished me with a 9 pointer when I benched him before. I'd say Senesi is odds on to concede at Palace. He may get DC but I doubt he's going to really punish me from the bench with a 3/4 pointer.

So question is a team below workable or too many headaches? Plan is to be there in a few weeks. Only about 4 moves from it now. Some of the teams will clash but a strong 15 allows the weaker of a double up to be benched and get through those weeks. Or better to have some bench fodder? 11 and 12 probably the only weeks I wouldn’t captain Haaland but maybe Semenyo or Isak is an option for those weeks or does it needs a stronger second captain option with the cash spread better amongst the mids?
What I am really saying is a lot of value picks and with 102.8 TV I don’t need absolute fodder.

        Pope Dub

        Virgil Gabriel Timber Senesi Burn

        Semenyo Sarr Enzo Caicedo Reijders

        Haaland Isak Woltemade

I'd consider dropping Isak to Bowen who would be a solid captain choice in 11 if captaincy in that week is a concern. Bowen is also talismanic for WH. I just think Pool attackers are an avoid right now. I have Gakpo who is probably gone after Man U.

Maybe have funds set aside to upgrade a CHE mid to Saka or Eze. ARS have great fixtures and not having an attacker doesn't seem right IMO.

Cool thanks. Will have a look at Bowen. He always does the business no matter what he is working with.
Agree with all you are saying Isak is not in til 12 or 13 Gyokeres there now.
4 moves over the next few weeks would be
Elliot Foden Pedro and Gyokeres to
            Enzo Sarr Woltemade and Isak
Just trying to figure out the sequence to catch the best of the fixtures.

Another option is to downgrade Virgil to Cali or Saliva if you can stomach a triple ARS D and don't have the appetite for one of their attackers. Don't think Virgil is so essential

I don’t think I could deal with a triple defence lots did well running with it last year. It would be a feast or a famine each week - too much for me. Virgil I just know I will want from 12 or 13 so I just feel like it’s wasting transfers in and out even if he doesn’t look like the best option right now.

Yeah fair enough. Virgil does look good from 12 especially given the shortage of other obvious and nailed Pool picks.

Looks good. Enzo and Caicedo a better pick if Palmer is out. Maybe 1 of the two not so attack minded when Palmer returns. I think there's a bang of Gyokeres with Reijnders. Both very effective for the team but that's not reflected in FPL because their attacking returns aren't great.

Yeah I hear you. Really trying to hold 2 FT til 9 might have a better idea about Palmer by then but this seems better than a Palmer plan which all else being equal leaves me with 2 * 4.4 mids
            Palmer 4.4 4.4
            Enzo Sarr Reijnders
B looks way better it’s just the captain thing.
Gyokeres Reijnders and Pedro are the ones on the chopping block but hopefully they can do something over the next few weeks to at least make me consider changing plan.

Really appreciate the replies. Sorry I didn’t get the full picture across from the start. I suppose this is really about the plan to get ready for that GW 13 fixture swing and get the best of the fixtures between now and then even to the level of thinking 13 is my free hit week when there are some other nice fixtures when Che and Arsenal clash.

Don’t like recommending hits and it would be close on cash but maybe
Tark and Xavi to Burn and Saka

Ekitike and Gakpo could do ok this week and gives you more time to see what there minutes are like.

              WC active, any issues below?

              Pope, Dubravka
              Gabriel, Timber, Munoz, Senesi, Rodon
              Semenyo, Saka, Enzo, Reijnders, Longstaff
              Haaland, Bowen, Woltemade

I'm also on WC, similar but not the same team, but I'm wondering if getting 2 premium GK is preferable since no Salah means a lot ITB and then can always drop one later?

                a. Currently I am on Raya - Petrovic (but with Gab/Timber it blocks a place for Saka)
                b. I like Donnarumma - Pope as an option too
                c. Any other good rotations?

Think I prefer one cheap keeper I will use on bb and then stick with the premium. I have always got a gk rotation wrong in the past

Although having sels for 7 gameweeks has been painful

I had Sels too which will make another string of 2's with a premium even more painful lol

You'd never bench Raya though, and Donna/Pope is quite expensive. I have Pope/Roefs since GW4 and it's been great

Same dillema. Leaning towards Mateta bc Woltemade has been lucky. He only took the pen with Gordon off and has been farming headers. Bowen a great shout on BB tho

It's tough because it sort of depends on value to me - I got him at 5.5 and not SP is 5.6 and PP is 5.8 === so while money might not be an issue if No Salah, still leans me toward holding him til at least GW11

Rate their defense higher than WHM/MUN. Not that Salah is playing well but Semenyo is atleast in form. Could even take a bet on one of the DefCon guys in easy fixture.

                              Pretty limited options tbh.

He’s getting faded out in Liverpool, less involved and might be over the top. Liverpool also needs time to settle new players and is not very solid arm

Hi everyone, so hopefully over the international break I pick up no injuries and if I don't I'm considering bench boosting what you think? Is it worth doing?

                    Sels
                    Gabriel, cucurella, burn
                    Saka, semenyo, ndiaye, kudus
                    Thiago, haaland, Pedro.

Yea I think it's the best time, my Burnley players have Leeds at home, xhaka as wolves at home and senesi as palace away, once I play my bench boost I can start downgrading my bench players to get more value in my starting 11
