In his latest article, three-time top 200 finisher Lateriser considers who the pick of the sub-£7.0m Fantasy Premier League (FPL) midfielders are.

He also ponders his transfers for Gameweek 28.

FPL 2025/26 first draft team reveals: Triple Forest, Everton + Chelsea

There is a lot of FPL shopping this and next week, as there is a significant fixture turn for a few teams. Many Fantasy managers are looking up to Gameweek 31, as they plan to Wildcard in Gameweek 32.

£7.0m midfielders

The likes of Fulham, Bournemouth, Liverpool and Brentford are popular shopping destinations for FPL managers, particularly as Chelsea and Arsenal fall towards the bottom half of the Fixture Ticker.

I am in this category, as from this week till Gameweek 31, I need to take at least one hit to try to get 11 players out for Gameweek 31. I’ve enjoyed the Cole Palmer (£10.6m) points for the last few weeks but the schedule is difficult now and I think it’s time to just play the fixtures and make a switch.

I currently own Ashley Barnes (£4.2m) and Freddie Potts (£4.4m), who are essentially a couple of non-playing spots in my team. I’m looking to use the cash cow that is Palmer to upgrade at least one of them.

BEST SUB-£7.0M MIDFIELDERS

Let’s talk about midfielders first. There are a lot of FPL managers shopping in the midfield bracket below £7.0m.

Let’s look at some data:

    Morning, no FT left.

Is my bench & order correct?

Was hovering over WC after three red arrows

    Bench correct?

    Kelleher
    Hill, Virgil Gabriel
    Palmer, Rogers, Bruno, Wilson
    Haaland, JP, Ekitike

    Dubs Rice Guehi, Muki

I'd probably okay Rice over Palmer, but I see the temptation.

      I'd also play Guehi.

In fact, I'd take a hit on Mukiele, even with some value in him, to BB that this weekend.

Dubs is at home and Brentford aren't as good away.

I'd only do the latter if you're in good shape for 31 and have 3+ FTs saved.

Also prefer Hill to Munoz this week.

        You'll accumulate 3 FTs Gw29-31 anyhow

So even one or two rolled should be sufficient for most squads for Gw31.

        Unless I can't count properly?

        1. Conners

True, but many have WC'd already and if that's the case, it might not be the best idea to use these up given we don't know the full picture as far as DGWs are concerned.

    Good article.

Ekitike does need to convert. Let's hope it's on the deck, rather than in the air when he gets his next big chance to score.

    B) Enzo to Wilson

      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

      A

Because Enzo is okay to hold...

I did A then Enzo to Rayan

A little tempted to do Rice to Dango but he's fine to hold too.

Still playing against VVD which has been fine until recently.

    2. Conners
      • 7 Years

Depends on your team who you'd be starting in either case.

Assuming you can bench Chalobah, I prefer B, especially with GW31 in mind.

        From the previous article

"Taking everything into account, it’s wise to stay away from the Blues’ defence. They’ve just failed to keep a clean sheet versus either West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Leeds or Burnley, and are about to face three of the league’s best attacks."

        Chalabah has run his course...

        1. Conners
          • 7 Years
          4 months, 26 days ago

It really depends on the OP's team.

e.g. If his defence is currently double Arsenal and a Palace def, he'll be down to 1 defender for 31 if he brings in O'Reilly for Chalobah, and then has to use further FT's to bring in a defender or two (or play with 8 or 9 in gw31).

Bringing in Wilson and benching Chalobah gives him a better mid for the next few GWs and potentially saves him from using further FTs to bring in a defender or two for the blank.

        Really, Roefs?

        I'm currently on Dub

The clean sheet stats are similar but Bournemouth are much better at home.

Even with Granit back I think Sunderland might struggle in this one.

I don't expect either to keep a clean sheet, but figure Roefs will get more save points

I have been considering Roefs Kelleher combo. It’s only 0.6m difference to having Dub and funds are plentiful as I have zero interest in the likes of Salah, Palmer, Saka.

Hopefully Slot spills the beans. Can't afford a mistake as I will have 5 trades to move on 5 players for GW31 and obviously Enzo>Wirtz doesn't help for that week but is a better pick I think for the next few.

      Hold Rice

      Enzo to Dango or Rayan

Wilson is higher owned so he's probably more for protecting rank, rather than making up ground

I just think Spurs and West Ham have to rock up to Fulham and really compete in a relegation fight.

Wilson could still sparkle and steal the show in West London.

    Gabriel, Munoz, Andersen (VdV, Rodon)
Enzo, Rice, Dango, Bruno F (Ayari)
    Haaland, Ekitike, Thiago

      Looks good

You've gotta take the goal threat of NOR there

His minutes look pretty secure but it's Pep at the business end

He's playing more settled selections this season

      Good luck

My Ekitike woes have helped me to lose 200k places recently

    Current side (£1.6m)

    Kelleher (Dub)
    VVD Gabriel Tark (Rodon, DOrgu)
    Mbeumo BrunoF Wirtz Dango Ndiaye
    (H)aaland Thiago (Guiu)

    A) Save FT
    B) Dorgu-> O'Reilly or Hill
    C) Ndiaye -> Rayan or Wilson (or Semenyo)
    D) Both -4

What's the plan in 31 if you bring in O'Reilly? Haaland/O'Reilly/Gabriel/Guiu will likely blank/ 0 mins.

Yeah just clocked Gabriel blank too. Wonder if Hill is the wise one, therefore

You could bench Haaland/O'Reilly/Gabriel and upgrade Guiu in 31

      B

      Or C

In B you could bench Tark, but then he'll pop up and score!

Pretty sure every week I've played him this year he's had a header cleared off the line or a 9 DC hahah

If NOR keeps this up, it is worth getting him v Forest even if it leaves you with 10 players in gw31?

Otherwise I'll have Haaland, Semenyo and Gab on bench. Would be getting VVD over NOR.

considering the same but tbf I have VVD already. Who are your other defenders?

        Def is:

        Raya(Dub)
        Gab - Cash - Hill - Lacroix - Clyne

Have exact money to do Lacroix & Clyne to VVD & Bassey. So could be NOR and Andersen.

Hi guys. Moving Enzo on this week, but can't decide between Dango and Rayan. Dango seems to have more explosive potential but I got him in last season and he burnt me with blanks. Rayan a new prospect but not too much data to go on so far... Thoughts?

Rayan if you have Thiago - don’t think we can justify doubling on Brentford attack just yet

Not saying it will happen again, simply that both can score well in the same fixture

I don't think I agree mainly because I don't see Sunderland and Brentford being particularly good teams to attack even if Bournemouth are at home.

I think WHU wol TOT are way nicer teams to attack personally.

I think both West Ham and Spurs are in a lot of trouble and will really dig in and try and keep things tight especially at Anfield.

The teams that Bournemouth play in Sunderland and Brentford are pretty much safer so may play with a bit more abandon.

Wirtz more nailed when fit than Rayan is my other consideration here

        Both teams are weaker away.

Sunderland defence has been pretty resilient but Mukiele out can hurt. Even if Granit is back.

          Especially Sunderland away

Sunderland and Brentford are placed 5th and 6th at home.

          But 17th and 10th away...

Brentford haven't drawn away either so it's boom or bust for the team on the road. 5 wins and 8 losses, -6 goal difference.

Sunderland have -14 difference, with 20 goals conceded and only 2 wins in 13 away games.

I've got more time on my hands than is healthy at the moment.

The Gandhi saying isn't holding this season.

In fact, in a quick look back on the points page the only nil nil in the early KO on a Saturday was in Gw1 for the TNT Sports first game.

    Villa v Newcastle 0-0.

    Since mid-August, plenty of goals.

    2-1, 2-0, 3-0, 3-1 etc. etc.

Goals going in ... Gandhi says you can back the early fixture now!
