Who are the penalty takers at all 20 Premier League clubs?

While it’s not the be-all and end-all, being a penalty taker can really boost a player’s appeal in Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

Our Set-Piece Takers tab keeps track of who we think is on spot-kicks throughout the season.

But there are often some ‘unknowns’ every summer, with first-choice takers leaving clubs and new arrivals threatening to upset the established order.

Here we look at all 20 Premier League teams, picking out who is a nailed-on taker – and where it’s less clear-cut. Transfermarkt was a great help for this piece, as was our very own Penalty Takers tool in the Members Area.

THE ESTABLISHED FIRST-CHOICE TAKERS

FPL notes: Haaland blank, Semenyo scores again + O’Reilly injury latest

  • Brentford, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United

All of the names below were clear, first-choice penalty takers at their respective clubs last season and remain integral to those teams going into 2026/27.

BRENTFORD

Igor Thiago (£8.0m) took nine of Brentford’s Premier League spot-kicks last season, scoring eight of them.

The one interloper was Kevin Schade (£6.0m), who bemusingly stepped up to take one – with Thiago on the field – in the Gameweek 3 loss at Sunderland. He missed, and he hasn’t been seen on spot-kick duties since.

CHELSEA

Cole Palmer (£9.5m) has long been responsible for Chelsea’s spot-kicks.

He took six of the Blues’ eight Premier League penalties in 2025/26, scoring all but the last of them.

When Palmer wasn’t available, Enzo Fernandez (£7.0m) twice deputised from 12 yards in the league.

Liam Delap (£5.5m) has scored twice from the spot in pre-season but that was during a glorified B-team match, which didn’t feature Palmer or Enzo. He might be on his way out of the club this summer anyway.

MANCHESTER CITY

Erling Haaland (£15.5m) took all six of City’s penalties in all competitions in 2025/26.

Not since Omar Marmoush (£7.0m) failed from the spot in the 2025 FA Cup final has anyone tried to upset the established order.

MANCHESTER UNITED

Bruno Fernandes (£12.0m) has been United’s main taker for several years. He took all six Premier League penalties for the Red Devils in 2025/26.

Despite missing twice from the spot last autumn, he remained first in line and converted his next three penalties.

          You could do Williams > Aina. He's not the better long-term pick but for BB1 it's pot luck which of the forest WBs might haul points.

      Not a fan of Bruno G or Cunha. Bruno G ok minutes-wise at the start of the season but it’s really hard to know how he’ll do for points in the Arsenal team. Cunha massive minutes risk imo, I’m not even sure he starts in their best XI tbh given Carrick seemed to trust Dorgu more when he was fit last season

            Totally viable. A lot of people would say Joao Pedro is better for 0.5 less, but I think Brentford have some ok fixtures tbh, and I imagine Thiago will still score over 15 goals this year as Brentford are one of the few teams who are broadly stable after a summer of turmoil at so many clubs. If you want to pick him I don’t mind it at all. I’ve not got him from the start but could definitely see myself owning him at points

      I like mids personally because there’s surely lots of goals against promoted opposition. Bruno and Mbeumo for me. If you’re feeling lucky I don’t mind a punt on Dorgu. Wouldn’t go to Cunha or Amad myself

    Semenyo is the 4th highest owned midfielder in the game and seems to be in just about all the RMTs nowadays (see above). However, out of all the midfielders who started at least 10 games in the second half of last season, he was ranked 20th for PPM, preceded by players of the calibre of John Mcginn, Noni Madueke, Mikkel Damsgaard and even Florian Wirtz. In the first half of the season when he was still a big fish in a small pond at Bournemouth he was ranked 2nd using the same criteria. He's had a good pre-season but as soon as Haaland's back on the park he'll probably be shoved right back out to the periphery again. He'll still score goals and provide assists but I don't think he'll get nearly enough of them to justify his 1.5m price hike.

    In my humble opinion Erling Haaland is once again the only Manchester City player worth owning.

      Maybe you've forgotten that Haaland did nothing at all in the last 10 games?? It was all about Cherki & Doku with an occasional goal from Semenyo - Haaland.

      2.0 ITB feels a bit much. Surely better to go Le Fee -> Sangaré/Groß and Calafiori to Gabriel?

      If you were hoping to go Semenyo and Isak to Haaland + 4.5 mid in GW3 you’ll need 2.5ITB. If you’re selling Bruno and Pedro you only need 0.5ITB. I’d say spend the extra money unless it’s there for a very specific reason.
