Liverpool early fixtures too good to pass on, so found I needed Szobo. So how's this for a GW1 BB team:

    Kinsky Verbruggen

    Calafiori Muharemovic Shaw Mykolenko Davis

    Bruno Mbeumo Szobo Tzolis Gomez

    Haaland Joao Pedro Calvert-Lewin

Might upgrade Gomez, if not fit, to a 5.5 by downgrading Muha

Looks good. I'm not convinced on Liverpool but that could come back to bite me

They are still work in progress for sure, but they should score a few in first five gw's at least, and Szobo both on penalties and set pieces

I think KDH Groß outscore Szobo Gomez, unless Szobo ends up at RW soon

          Different system now, unfortunately

And he needed those goals to get close to KDH (per match), not beat him

          Groß comfortably beats Gomez atm

    Semenyo/Rogers or Palmer/Wirtz

I think the latter is more of a higher risk higher reward but not sure if it’s a good thing playing that way from the start haha.

I think starting safer helps to not lose ground early on, then take some risks. Boring but depends on what you are playing for.

Best 6-6.5 mid? On A at the moment due to pens.
    A) Ndiaye
    B) Tzolis
    C) Odegaard
    D) Tav
    E) Stach
    F) Le Fee

Ndiaye has taken 4 penalties in 65 games over the last two seasons. He has scored 11 non-penalties. I'm really not sure that is worth it

      G) KDH at Everton
More points goals assists & bonus than Ndiaye last season
      In fewer minutes

I'm on KDH and Tzolis due to output, KDH based on how he played last season (not enough has changed at Everton to change that, imo), Tzolis based on his play style and role at Arsenal

Everton don't get enough pens for me to go with Ndiaye for now, and he's not as productive as KDH in open play. Maybe he'll change my mind over time. Pens aren't important to me when the team doesn't earn many pens, unless they've got a new coach/style now that can get more pens

I still like Thiago for his pens, for instance, because the team's wingers actively create them. Like when Man U had wingers who created pens more often for Bruno in that season or two

        Nice, thanks for this.
My other 6.5 is Sarr. I just like him as a player so he's my one heart pick.
So I need to choose between Tzolis and KDH....hmmm

        1. Ze_Austin

          Tzolis is more exciting, fwiw

          I can't get over KDH's reliability. 4.9 ppm is nuts at 6.5

    Morning all.

Given Doku’s injury, does Semenyo playing off the left affect his points potential as opposed to playing off the right?
Is Cherki now nailed for the right and if so how will this affect his potential compared to playing centrally?

        - very interesting. I’m still 50/50 on whether to go with Haaland or not from the start. Isak (who would replace Haaland in my squad) didn’t thrill me with his performance against COmo at the weekend.

I've moved Man City beyond Haaland firmly into "wait and see"

Anderson might somehow end up being the best option, like that hypothetical season some years back if Rodri had DCs

Isak in 24/25 and 23/24 had 0.79 and 0.82 non-pen XGI respectively. Even last year when clearly not fit it was 0.5.

If he is close to those numbers then he looks amazing value. And that's without pens, which he may have

    2. Ze_Austin

Waiting to see him fully fit

This analysis works for Palmer and Saka too... But the "if" is the main factor

Yeah it's a fair point about Palmer and Saka. My gut tells me to trust Isak more. He looked sharp at WC and has done well in pre-season. Palmer and Saka not shown up in pre-season

New system too. The price is right for these lads

Priced just high enough for me to wait and see, while starting with Haaland and Bruno. Mbeumo is in my 8.0 slot that should have gone to Gabriel

  9. NotsoSpursy

    Is my defence strong enough?
If not, who to downgrade in midfield?

O'Nien probably only has 3-4 games at the start I reckon

    Kinsky - (Verbruggen)
    Calafiori - White - Shaw - (O'Nien) - (Diop)
    Szoboszlai - Semenyo - Fernandes - Tzolis - (Hughes)
    Pedro - Calvert-Lewin - Haaland

In a quandary about the Arsenal defence. I’ve had one defender in most drafts, two in some. Is it pointless going for one? Is it better off doubling down or going against? Or is one defender a sensible way in which you can add to come GW4 when Villa and Chelsea are out of the way?

Why does Haaland always smash the first few weeks? Is it:

    A) An anomaly and we dont have enough data to show that yet
    B) He is a physical monster and dominates when not everyone is up to speed
    C) Never had summer tournament commitments

    1. BR510

Two popular combinations below that I've seen this week. I honestly can't decide which is better ???
    Comments so far:

    - if you have Haaland, no point having Bruno dues to Haaland cap most of the time
    - Palmer is a wait and see (but I'm willing to try)

    Or

    B) BrunoF, Szob, Tzollis

I’m glad to be reading Saka’s name being mentioned on these pages as an FPL prospect. I know he’s a minutes doubt and not a 90min man any longer under Arteta, but surely he gets the greater share of gametime over Madueke and therefore could be a game breaker. Arsenal will want a fast, solid start to retaining their title so surely Saka is good for minutes?

Im going with O'reilly as my attacking City asset. I dont like picking attackers that hug the wing and at 8.5 with no set pieces and not much goal threat i think there are better options

        Semenyo certainly has goal threat.

Sarr maybe good again at Palace too.

would you BB2 with Petrovic/Rushworth, Ajer, Slater and Van Ewjk?

    1. BR510

Yes but surely find a way to get Slater up to Sangare or Ampadu. Maybe go Petrovic, Thomas, Van Ewijk and find 0.5 for Ampadu

    Thoughts on this BB GW1?

    Verbruggen

    Semenyo - Mbeumo - MGW - Wirtz
    Isak - Thiago - João Pedro (C)

    (Kinsky - Rogers - Collins - Vušković)

Feel like if you don't have Haaland, both Gabriel and Bruno Fernandes are a must for me. Also, not sure about the Milenkovic, Branthwaite, and Collins picks to be honest mate.

If no bench boost, get Crooks or Gross up to Tzolis. Maybe Schade over Ndiaye as rotates with Muha. Rest is good

Perhaps let the initial 6 fixtures determine it, 8 was suggesting Szoboszlai this time last season until I was talked out of it

I could see his long range goal threat and he turned into a season set and forget, like Rice.

But unless you are on those long term picks early you're normally prioritising another move, week to week.

I’ve currently got Davis and Hume in my BB1 squad.

Obviously they are playing against each other. Is it a bad strategy to select opposing defenders?

    1. BR510
      3 hours, 21 mins ago

No because a 0-0 is possible. If you are going to, maybe pick one and upgrade other so Davis or O'Nien

I think just pick the best players for each position regardless. A lot of us are BB1 with Kinsky for example and i fully expect Brentford to score

Each team plays 19 other teams twice, the match up is inevitable and noone knows the score despite match favourites, nevermind those involved in the action.

    Vuskovic Muhamerovic Maguire Calafiori O’Nien
Wirtz Mbeumo Semenyo Schade Tzolis Hinshelwood
    Haaland Isak Pedro

I could downgrade Wirtz to Szobo and upgrade ONien..

Not a lot wrong with a benching headache.

Makes you think through your bench...

The frustration is if you keep picking the wrong one in a given week.

Even then, it's better to have a scoring bench for no shows.

Yes, but I feel like havertz is better against good teams, while Gyokeres can bully bottom half teams, also I like the bench so he can definitely rotate.

    Anyone considering MGW?

What's the 'considered' collective view on him...

Is he beyond the template as it sits?
