Being a Sunderland fan - Hume and Ballard nailed, there is a good chance O’Nien starts - but Alderete and Mukiele both back training.
I think long term Muhamerovic is the best bet, but if just for W1 I’d go Ballard.

I've gone very similar, but am fully committing to the "City may struggle" bit and not having any coverage. May bite me, but essentially going Semenyo->6ish mid and upgradung a defender to VVD.
My wildcard never lasts past GW4/5 so just focusing on those early weeks, and if City have a bit about them I will FH in GW3
Oh and I've got Gabriel over Cala too
Are you bench boosting early? That's a lot of money tied up in the goalkeepers. Plus Thiago is a better option than DCL.

Open to suggestions on how to improve on Maguire/Gvardiol and Rodon for 15m Feel like I've been on these 3 for a while and no other combo I've looked at appeals. Possible early WC so just looking at first 5wks really.

I'm a van Hecke fan, but I think Muharemović for Leeds is even better as a 5.0 defender, and with Kinsky you've got a cheap way into the Tottenham defence... as SpaceCadet as already suggested.
Muharemovic certinayly an option. Unproven in PL though, although everyone expecting him to be great value. Also, Spurs opening fixtures somewhat kinder than those of Leeds
He's nailed on in my team. Got defcon last 7 games of last season. 6 attacking returns. Nailed on. 5mil. Will end up on 170+ IMO. Shhhhh.
I see a lot of folks jumping off Haaland to A) go for Isak and B) beef up the rest of their squad.
Now, I ask: why, with Haaland's great start to seasons in the past, would anyone do that? I mean, beside the fact that he's bloody expensive?

Well, for starters, there's the fact that he's bloody expensive...
This is also his first season in the Prem where he hasn't had Pep and has had a much shorter pre-season than the test of the squad. I was at from the beginning on only one of Bruno or Haaland because of their prices. These reasons and Bruno's opening fixtures are why I've gone without Haaland.
Will he still be good? Almost certainly.
Will he be 15.5 good given those factors? Who knows? I'm betting on No. If it's Yes then I'm going to be behind at the start, but if I'm right then I'll be ahead. And that's the fun of the game. It would be boring if we all had him on perma-cap!

I'm sure it won't help, but I'd try and find a way to get Tzolis and Muharemovic.

Szobo > Anderson (+0.5)
Rodon > Muharemovic
Ndiaye > Tzolis
I'm not a fan of Szobo (may play too deep), or Anderson (won't get DefCons like he did last season). I don't dislike Rodon at 4.5, but much prefer Muharemovic at 5.0. Tzolis might be exceptional value at 6.5m.
So, Szobo > Anderson it is, since both basically have the same problem, with the latter affording Muha + Tzolis.

Why are people setting up to wildcard in gw3?
Personally always try to wait until 1st IB but in hindsight an early WC is always possible no matter how much you try set up team so it’s a matter of optimising the early fixtures and then catching players before all the rises after a couple of games
