Two Spanish head coaches make their first appearances in a Premier League dugout this evening at Craven Cottage.

Alvaro Arbeloa takes charge of Fulham for the first time in a competitive game, while Xabi Alonso does likewise for Chelsea.

Both managers, of course, spent time in charge of Real Madrid last season.

Kick-off in west London is at 20:00 BST.

TEAM NEWS

There are a few surprises on – or missing from – the Chelsea teamsheet.

Moises Caicedo and Marco Palestra were both expected to be in the Blues’ starting XI this evening but miss out.

Their absences sound precautionary:

Those two are among four changes from Chelsea’s final pre-season friendly XI against Real Sociedad.

Wesley Fofana is injured and Pedro Neto drops to the bench.

Josh Acheampong, Malo Gusto, Jorell Hato and Romeo Lavia come into the line-up.

Arbeloa goes with the same team he sent out in the Cottagers’ final warm-up match of the summer.

Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios get their Premier League debuts.

LINE-UPS

Chelsea XI: Sanchez, Acheampong, Lacroix, Colwill, Gusto, Lavia, James, Hato, Palmer, Joao Pedro, Rogers.

Subs: Penders, Chavarria, Barco, Fernandez, Neto, Gittens, Estevao, Welbeck, Quenda.

Fulham XI: Leno, Castagne, Cuenca, Bassey, Robinson, King, Berge, Iwobi, Bobb, Garcia, Palacios

Subs: Lecomte, De Gougerolles, Tete, Reed, Charles, Sessegnon, Kevin, Smith Rowe, Muniz.

Five of the points I currently have are bonus points.

Not sure why they are doing this as could easily be lost. Not like conceding, as they could lose bonus points through not doing anything wrong.

Early days but looks like it could be a genuinely fun season if you've got the likes of Palmer and Odegaard back in the form of past seasons. Just need Man Utd mids to improve too!

      Coventry & Fulham though

      1. We don’t have the luxury of tip toeing around all the nice green fixtures all the time though. To truly benefit from form players we need to own them regardless if they have Brentford away or (h) to City on the horizon. And if we always wait for the optimum time to get these players in all the YouTubers, all the FFS Community and every follower on X copies the same team and we all cry when everyone has the same team. Need to be bold and have some foresight aswell.

its Saka + Palmer season in midfield.

I cant understand how people are not seeing the obvious Saka move. Pens, explosive, and lots to prove. He will have a big season.

Cala + Tzolis + Saka could be the triple up. Agreed. Hard for people to shift though because plenty already own 3 Arsenal. So cant get Saka cleanly without WC

I think I'm just gonna do the move... hopefully Mbeumo is enough coverage against Ipswich.

      We are awful anyway

It's tempting to do Bruno > Palmer (C)

Next week I can do Mbeumo + Isak > Haaland + Slater for a -4.

    1. Bruno (h) to Ipswich could really backfire on you.

      Chasing points Camzy.

Although i think Palmer and Saka will be template soon. I wouldnt sell bruno for Palmer this week alone, you will need some United cover.

My prediction of the template tocome:

      Kinsky (other 4.5mil)
Cala white Rodon (Ajer, De Cup)
Saka Palmer Szob Sangare mBuemo (flip position to Cherki / Rogers in 3 and 4)
      Haaland (C) Pedro.

      1. I really don’t like Saka, used to love watching him but since that hamstring injury he doesn’t move the same or destroy defences like he used to.

Still more than capable of getting returns but he is not as instrumental to Arsenal as he was.

Brighton would suggest tougher than Ipswich. Could only be that.

As good as Bruno is, it is a midfielder Vs an attacker in an arguably better side on paper.

        Play your own game

I was similiarity mocked for saying the best captain all week was Arsenal depending on if Saka / Gyokeres started, or going Calafiori

I went Saka once the leak was made.

FYI the best captain this coming week is Haaland by a distance.

Last season I continually asked why all the template teams had none or one Arsenal player in them. Just couldn't work the logic out with a game va Man U who had finished 16th, then home to Leeds.

Clean sheet and away win, followed by a huge one. I got the biggest arrows those two weeks.

Really think Haaland is best option this weekend? As much because of Palace rather than City’s mediocrity against Bournemouth?

City put up 2xG, Haaland 3 chances and half of that, and Palace just lost their cb.

      3. I captained Gabriel this week 😆

We need to identify the closed minds on here and block out their noise.
