Two Spanish head coaches make their first appearances in a Premier League dugout this evening at Craven Cottage.

Alvaro Arbeloa takes charge of Fulham for the first time in a competitive game, while Xabi Alonso does likewise for Chelsea.

Both managers, of course, spent time in charge of Real Madrid last season.

Kick-off in west London is at 20:00 BST.

TEAM NEWS

There are a few surprises on – or missing from – the Chelsea teamsheet.

Moises Caicedo and Marco Palestra were both expected to be in the Blues’ starting XI this evening but miss out.

Their absences sound precautionary:

Those two are among four changes from Chelsea’s final pre-season friendly XI against Real Sociedad.

Wesley Fofana is injured and Pedro Neto drops to the bench.

Josh Acheampong, Malo Gusto, Jorell Hato and Romeo Lavia come into the line-up.

Arbeloa goes with the same team he sent out in the Cottagers’ final warm-up match of the summer.

Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios get their Premier League debuts.

LINE-UPS

Chelsea XI: Sanchez, Acheampong, Lacroix, Colwill, Gusto, Lavia, James, Hato, Palmer, Joao Pedro, Rogers.

Subs: Penders, Chavarria, Barco, Fernandez, Neto, Gittens, Estevao, Welbeck, Quenda.

Fulham XI: Leno, Castagne, Cuenca, Bassey, Robinson, King, Berge, Iwobi, Bobb, Garcia, Palacios

Subs: Lecomte, De Gougerolles, Tete, Reed, Charles, Sessegnon, Kevin, Smith Rowe, Muniz.

Andersen to step in. That’s a potent attack from Chelsea too to be fair.

  4. Still can’t believe Gros blanked

    1. I know, Groß blanking in a 4-0 with one point but Sangare getting 14 points in a 3-0 win just seems so wrong.

          Current team bb1
          Lammens Verb
O reilly, Cala, White , De Cup, Palestra*
          Saka Bruno Rogers Gomez Foden*
          Pedro Barry* Isak *

*So lots to move potential issues

          WC draft :
          Kinsky
Cala White Rodon (Ajer , De Cup)
          Saka Palmer Sangare Szob Mbuemo
          Pedro Haaland 4.5

Mbuemo would be just a flip player to > Cherki > Rogers >
Could bench 1 of Pedro / Palmer week 3 or FH3

    2. That’s class, well done.

A wildcard now could really set you up nicely and try and grow your lead further.

yep, im looking to maybe WC here, and leave open no FH3 or FH later

        Kinsky
Cala White Rodon (Ajer , De Cup)
        Saka Palmer Sangare Szob Mbuemo
        Pedro Haaland 4.5

Mbuemo would be just a flip player to > Cherki > Rogers >

        1. Unreal start, well done
I'm WCing also, looks similar ish, but have double Arsenal attack instead of defence, no Mbeumo or Szobo

Arsenal defence is just so cheap and their clean sheets odds are miles past everyone, plus the fullbacks are attackers.

            Whats your draft?

mBuemo v Davis the Ipswich weak link i want. Szob is longterm pick, i expect Wirtz to be dropped and him to go 10, so pens, freekicks, defcons and in the 8/10 i like for 7mil

            1. The likes of Tzolis and Odegaard are also cheap!

I sort of want Szobo too but I think Liverpool looks rubbish

              My team at the moment

              Trafford Verbruggen
              Calafiori Gvardiol Ajer Justin DeCuyper
              Saka Palmer Cherki Tzolis Sangare
              Haaland Pedro 4.5

              1. Very similar

You have Gvardiol Justin Cherki Tzoli to my White, Rodon, Szob , mBuemo (who becomes Cherki week 3)

    3. I recall you having some horrendous luck yester year (probably years ago as time flies) so nice to see you doing well!

Just need to figure out if I want to play DCL or Le Fee

      Lammens
      Gabriel - Calafiori - Hume
Bruno - Palmer - Mbeumo - Ødegaard - Le Fee
      Thiago - Pedro

O'Reilly was getting into some sexy positions. But that early sub is a huge red flag.

City are bringing in some big midfielders so O'Reilly is essentially competing with Dias (C), Gvardiol (Pillar), & Guehi.

      I'm unsure on the mins.

    3. Gvardiol in my team, definitely buying NOR also.

He'll play LW or 10 most of the time, but he can play LB too..

Some reactionary yet good picks in there such as Hinshelwood and Sangare (almost started with him myself)

How bad is your current team?

The key FPL commodities these days are minutes, set pieces & defcons.

    68 all out

I still think Enzo will go. Haven’t heard anything solid about Martinez but while that clown Sanchez is in goal it’s pointless picking up a Lacroix etc

      1. SalahFingers

Hard to know with Gabriel. Against coventry, there weren't much DC points and if it's a tighter game (1-0 versus 3-0) then that favours the defenders. I personally did get him, but he is probably going to be one of the most reliable points getters for defenders this season. You have to pay a premium for it though.

I thought this but every GW I build a potential WC, and Gabriel is my one for this GW.

        Raya - 4.0
        Gabriel - Gvardiol - Konsa - Rodon - Egan
        Bruno - Palmer - Szobo - Ndiaye - Stach
        Haaland - Pedro - 4.5

I'm sure it will be something very different next GW. Maybe Sangare in for Stach, but no pieces is a turn off for me.

I don't have Stach. This is the WC team I would choose if I played it now. (I'm not playing it)

I like to keep in mind my "perfect team" were I to choose one for the season. It gives me long-term perspective and something to move towards. It shapes the transfers I spend in the short-term.

Stach would be in my current perfect team. Tzolis and Sangare are potential replacements for that slot, but Stach is currently winning.

what's the deal with chips been used early? seeing it alot

      1. Fixture swings within week 1-2-3-4 against promoted sides, prices of premiums + we have 6 chips now. I played in the 2000s when we had 1WC, no issue to attack early with so many safety switches of 5 more chips + rolling transfers.

    4. Like that FH
