Fantasy Football Scout has launched its new WSL and WSL 2 Stats Centre, giving Fantasy managers another way to assess the players who could deliver big returns.
From goal threat and creativity to defensive contributions and set-piece involvement, the new data offers plenty of opportunities to look beyond recent Fantasy scores.
WSL Fantasy expert Fwsl_Jono, who reached second in the world earlier this season, has been exploring the new tools ahead of Matchweek 7. Here, he shares five players who have caught his eye, including some premium favourites and a potentially exciting differential.
USING SCOUT’S NEW WSL STATS CENTRE
I’ve really enjoyed exploring the new Fantasy Football Scout WSL Stats Centre this week!
Having access to detailed attacking, creative and defensive numbers makes a massive difference when assessing potential Fantasy picks. Rather than simply looking at who scored the most points last week, we can dig deeper into how players are performing and whether they can sustain those returns.
I managed to reach second in the world earlier this season, while I previously ranked fourth all-time in Aerial Fantasy. I’m currently sitting 44th overall, and I’m always looking for ways to gain an edge.
With that in mind, I’ve picked out five players who could make the difference in Matchweek 7.
LAUREN HEMP (£8.0M) – MANCHESTER CITY

It’s difficult to ignore Lauren Hemp at the moment. The Manchester City winger has been one of the standout attacking players this season, and her underlying numbers help explain why.
Four goals and four assists from five appearances represent an excellent start, but it’s her goal threat that really catches my attention. Hemp has registered 19 shots, with 10 hitting the target, showing just how frequently she’s getting into dangerous positions.
That combination of goalscoring threat and creativity gives her multiple routes to Fantasy points. She’s not simply relying on a handful of chances going her way.
Manchester City face Manchester United in Sunday’s derby, which certainly isn’t the easiest fixture. However, I’m not someone who automatically avoids an in-form player just because they’re facing strong opposition.
Hemp has the quality to trouble any defence, and I think she’s well worth considering if you can accommodate her £8.0m price tag.
ELLIE CARPENTER (£7.0M) – CHELSEA

When looking for defenders with genuine attacking upside, Ellie Carpenter is exactly the sort of player I want in my Fantasy team.
The Chelsea defender has already produced three goals and an assist in six appearances, which is an outstanding return from a £7.0m option. More importantly, her underlying numbers suggest she can continue offering a significant goal threat.
Carpenter has attempted 16 shots this season, with seven hitting the target. Those are impressive numbers for a defender and highlight just how often she gets into dangerous attacking positions.
Chelsea travel to Crystal Palace this weekend, giving Carpenter an opportunity to contribute at both ends of the pitch. The potential for a clean sheet is appealing, but her attacking involvement makes her even more interesting.
I always pay attention when a defender regularly gets into shooting positions. It gives them another way to deliver points, even when their team fails to keep a clean sheet.
For me, Carpenter is one of the standout defensive options for Matchweek 7.
ALEXIA PUTELLAS (£8.5M) – LONDON CITY LIONESSES

Another player who deserves plenty of attention is Alexia Putellas, who has made an encouraging start to life at London City Lionesses.
The Spanish midfielder has already contributed three goals and an assist, collecting 41 Fantasy points in the available data snapshot. Her 10 shots also highlight her willingness to get involved in attacking situations.
At £8.5m, Putellas requires a significant investment, so I wouldn’t rush into bringing her in without considering her fixtures and role. However, her early-season returns certainly make her an interesting option.
This is where the new Stats Centre becomes particularly useful. We can look beyond her headline Fantasy points and explore her creativity, shooting numbers and set-piece involvement to build a better picture of her potential.
Those details can help us understand whether a player’s returns look sustainable or whether we might be chasing points from previous matches.
Putellas has already shown her quality, and I’ll certainly be keeping a close eye on her numbers over the coming weeks.
LAUREN JAMES (£7.5M) – CHELSEA

If you’re looking for someone capable of producing a massive Fantasy haul, Lauren James has to enter the conversation.
The Chelsea attacker has scored four goals in just 300 minutes this season, while registering 24 shots and nine efforts on target. That level of attacking involvement is particularly encouraging for someone priced at £7.5m.
Her shot volume immediately stands out to me. James clearly isn’t afraid to shoot, and she’s creating plenty of opportunities to get herself on the scoresheet.
Of course, there is one obvious concern: minutes.
With a smaller playing-time sample than some of the other players on this list, I’d want to check the latest team news before making a move. Her starting prospects and expected minutes could make a big difference to her Fantasy appeal.
However, Chelsea’s trip to Crystal Palace looks like an interesting opportunity. If James starts, she has the attacking quality and underlying numbers to produce a significant return.
She’s certainly one of the more exciting picks for managers willing to take a little risk.
OCÉANE HURTRÉ (£6.0M) – BIRMINGHAM CITY

This is probably the player I’m most interested in discussing!
Rather than filling the entire list with premium options, I wanted to highlight someone who might help Fantasy managers gain an advantage over their rivals.
Océane Hurtré has enjoyed an excellent start to the season with Birmingham City, producing four goals and an assist across her opening four fixtures.
However, it’s not just her attacking returns that make her appealing.
The £6.0m midfielder has also delivered 48 crosses and taken responsibility for set pieces, highlighting just how important she is to Birmingham’s attacking play.
That combination of goal threat and creativity is exactly what I look for when searching for a differential. Even when Hurtré doesn’t score, her involvement gives her opportunities to contribute in other ways.
Birmingham face Charlton Athletic this weekend, which looks like another opportunity for her to build on that impressive start.
At £6.0m, she also offers a more affordable route into attacking returns than some of the premium players I’ve discussed.
Hurtré is precisely the type of player I enjoy researching through the Stats Centre. Her underlying numbers help explain why she’s performing so well and make her an intriguing option for Matchweek 7.
FINAL THOUGHTS
There are plenty of exciting options heading into Matchweek 7, but I think these five players offer a good mixture of proven attacking quality, underlying numbers and potential differentials.
Hemp and James have the ability to produce huge scores, while Carpenter’s attacking involvement makes her particularly appealing in defence. Putellas offers another premium midfield option, and Hurtré could be the one who helps managers climb the rankings.
I’ve really enjoyed using the new Fantasy Football Scout WSL Stats Centre, and I’d recommend giving it a look before finalising your team.
Being able to compare shooting, creativity, defensive contributions and set-piece involvement gives us a much better understanding of the players we’re considering. It’s a great way to find potential picks before everyone else catches on!
As always, make sure you check the latest team news, prices and player data before the deadline.
Good luck for Matchweek 7!
