A weekend brace in Belgium’s 5-0 victory over Cyprus, followed by the opener in this evening’s clash with Israel, has continued Marouane Fellaini’s recent renaissance. Having struggled to make an impact since arriving at Old Trafford at the start of last season, the former Everton man is belatedly winning over the Old Trafford faithful as Louis van Gaal’s side close in on a top four finish.

With Robin van Persie sidelined through injury since Gameweek 27, Van Gaal’s decision to move to 4-3-3 and hand Fellaini a spot on the left of midfield has helped United register four successive wins, including back-to-back victories over top-four rivals Spurs and Liverpool in the last couple of Gameweeks. Whilst Juan Mata’s brace at Anfield has persuaded over 28,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers to snap up his services, Fellaini – despite serving up a 13-point haul in his previous home appearance – has made his way into just 4,000 new teams.

As United prepare for the weekend visit of Villa, we take a look at Fellaini’s displays in the four match-winning streak without the stricken Van Persie. Delving into the data, we assess his performances against his previous numbers and also compare them to his team-mates and fellow midfielders alike.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

When you have an England and Italy game which includes the goal scorers of Pelle and Townsend I think it's fair to say that both teams are dog turd

Game was interesting enough but neither team is within a generation of getting to a final let alone winning a major tournament.

Most top European sides haven't looked up to scratch in the qualifiers though. I expect a decent showing from England by time 2016 comes around. Not confident in our manager though.

I just think as a relative measure Germany, Spain, France, Holland outperform in producing exceptional young players on a continuous basis.

Also when it comes to the tournament, England just don't really have the game management that's needed especially when you have relatively limited talent. Italy and for periods Germany have been exceptional despite having inferior teams on a player by player basis.

As much as I dislike the man but Mourinho would be the best hope.

Well the quality of players, tactical awareness and game management tend to have a fairly big impact on the outcome of football games.

And it was a friendly.... All told, quite entertaining but nothing more. Just an idea of the players who might emerge.

That is my point, the next generation will still not be at the level of winning a major tournament (despite beating Germany yesterday). The current team certainly won't be winning any. Realistically it would take at least 10 years to initiate a shift in the technical ability and quality of future players. Granted tactics and game management can be drilled in at a later age but with the average IQ of the England team that might be a stretch too far.

    Hazard, sanchez, erikson, silva (Boyd)
    Agureo, Kane, Austin,

    1ft £1.9m in bank

Thinking Aguero to benteke this week then Costa next.

I am sure Aguero will get a hat trick if I sack him this week though!
