Daniel Sturridge is ruled out of the weekend visit to the Hawthorns. Per Mertesacker remains “50/50” for Arsenal’s clash with leaders Chelsea. Spurs look set to welcome back Hugo Lloris in goal against Southampton, who could have Toby Alderweireld back fit and available, whilst Aston Villa receive mixed news in defence.

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Daniel Sturridge will miss the trip to the Hawthorns and is uncertain when the forward is expected to return. Lucas and Sakho also remain on the sidelines for the Baggies trip, though there is more positive news on Adam Lallana and Jon Flanagan, with the pair set to be monitored after returning to training ahead of the weekend.

Per Mertesacker is “50/50” to play against Chelsea after picking up an ankle injury in the FA Cup against Reading. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continues to be unavailable for selection, while Mikel Arteta is back in full training, and edging closer to a return, though remains short of match sharpness to feature this weekend.

David Nugent remains a doubt with the calf complaint picked up during the warm-up prior to last week’s win over Swansea. Nigel Pearson has also confirmed Marcin Wasilewski will continue to be monitored after he was forced off at the break in the 2-0 victory due to a leg problem.

Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is close to being available for the weekend, having made a return to training. Kyle Walker remains sidelined for Spurs, though everyone else is available for selection, confirms Pochettino.

Saints boss Ronald Koeman has delivered a positive update on Toby Alderweireld, after the Belgian was stretchered off in the loss to Stoke. Koeman has confirmed that Alderweireld trained yesterday, and “if there is no reaction, he will be fit for Saturday”. Filip Djuricic remains sidelined by an ankle injury, while the Saints are again without Victor Wanyama who serves the final game of a two-match suspension.

Jordan Mutch and Chung-Yong Lee have stepped up their recoveries from injury and could be in line to make the Eagles bench against Hull. Marouane Chamakh and Frazier Campbell have also made a return to training, but the weekend will come too soon for the forward pair.

Chris Ramsey has admitted that Rio Ferdinand is nursing an injury but hopes to have the defender back before the end of the season. Yun is available after recovering from a recent head injury, while Leroy Fer is also back in contention for the R’s and will be on the bench “at the very least”, according to Ramsey.

Tim Sherwood has confirmed that both Philippe Senderos and Aly Cissokho will make a return to the Villa squad, having shaken off recent injuries. Sherwood also hopes that Gabby Agbonlahor will recover from a hamstring injury in time to face the champions, though is confident that the forward will be fit to face Everton the following weekend, should Saturday come too soon. Nathan Baker has been ruled out with a knee injury, and will be assessed on a week-to-week basis, however Ciaran Clark could be set to miss the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury picked up against Spurs. Elsewhere, Alan Hutton is making good progress on his foot injury and will continue to be monitored as he steps up his recovery.

Guy Demel has picked up a calf injury and looks set to miss out at the weekend, with Sam Allardyce also confirming that the Hammers have the same injury list as last week.

Newcastle have received a boost with head coach Chris Carver confirming that both Jonas Gutierrez and Siem de Jong will return against Swansea this weekend. The Argentine was left out of last week’s squad after a training ground bust-up with the Magpies boss.

Andrew Robertson and Curtis Davies have both been ruled out of Hull’s trip to Palace by Steve Bruce earlier this morning. The Tigers boss also conceded that Mo Diame isn’t 100% after swelling returned to his ongoing knee problem, though the midfielder will still be part of the weekend squad.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream as breaking news unfolds.

How does this look for -8? Feel like going a bit different this GW to really push for top 1k...

    Krul
    Morgan - Skrtel - Moreno
    Hazard - Coutinho (c) - Fabregas - Silva
    Aguero - Kane - Remy

Ospina - Clyne - van Aanholt - Moses

    0FT, 0.9 in the bank

Skrtel, Moreno, Coutinho in for -8... Thought Remy might have a chance and would rather get those three.. May make it -12 if Remy is ruled out.

I like your Def & your (c) choice. Looks good bud. Quite similar to mine.

      Heaton
      Morgan/Moreno/Ivan (c)
      Haz/Cout/Hendo/Silva/Bolasie
      Kun/Kane

      (Giroud/PVA/Kosc/Panti)

      Good luck.

    Gilks Schmeichel
    Terry Skrtl Azpilicueta Baird Shackell
    Hazard Navas Sterling Henderson Ramsey

I would lose Shackell and Navas - use the money to upgrade Azpi to Ivanovic for assurance. Other than that seems ok.

          Mine's alright - pretty template.

          Pants Schmeichel
          Ivan Terry Srktel PVA Duff/McShane
          Hazard Silva Sterling Henderson

Gilks->Davis. A nice cheap option and gives you STH defensive coverage.
Azpi->Ivan. Has a habit of been rot'd and you need to take advantage of Ivan's attacking returns.
Baird and Sheackell need to be O Shea and PVA imo to begin loading up on the dgw 37 players.
Navas is an odd choice. Needs to be Cambiosso.
Austin needs to be Gru now imo.

GW36 CP vs ManU gives you 4 affordable mids in red (Young Fellaini Herrera and even Blind). UTD will not be secure in Top 4 by then I think so rotation will not be a risk. Fellaini for me but any of them could do the business.

I think it would have been more ballsy NOT to take the -8.

      Balls = going against convention.

Balls = Not doing any transfers (that is no transfers not no hits), -8 looks pretty normal for this week, more is ballsy
Balls = Sterling (C) or captaining not Hazard, even more ballsy anyone non-DGW
Balls = Any hits Hull players

Any Sterling (c) leading in their ML?

    Sorry for the repost guys.

I've no wild card. So taking a hit this week

Is taking a -12 too much of a hit to end up with this lot for this DGW? Or has DGW madness gone to my head?

    Skrtl
    Coutinho
    Terry
    Hazard
    sterling
    Remy
    Schlupp
    Cambiasso

Don't bother with Remy. Probaby don't need two Leicester either. Schlupp will likely get nothing v CHE, so prefer Cambiasso. Personally not getting any LEI players. -8 is acceptable.

Remy is one of the ones I already have

        Think I'll do Cambiasso then.

Worth getting rid of Remy for aguero to go for the -12 or just leave it?

As what you guys would call an occupational psychologist, I wouldn't recommend you get into such discussions with candidates....could color your perceptions, you want a good, easy to work with performer, right....? Fun though!

Probably not. If you're willing to bench Kane, you could swap Phillips to Cambiasso. Is Cambiasso going to score 4 points more than Kane though?

        1. Malrog
          • 11 Years
          10 years, 9 months ago

Not N'Doye. Maybe Vardy. Remy is a DGWer though, so that's a not as easy a call as it would be otherwise. Maybe wait and see if there's any clues from Mourinho's press conference later.

Here is my issue while on WC.

I can plan on 3 Arsenal attackers (Ramsey/Ozil, Sanchez and Giroud) for GW37 but that will leave me with a shite defence of McShane, PvA, Duff, Ivan and 4.0 defender

Or I can put Kos in my team and lose one of Ramsey/Ozil but that would mean no Pants for the DGW and no Skrtel this week.

Thoughts? Risk it with the plan?
