Would you Wildcard with this lot? Originally planned to save it until December but a disastrous start to the season (2.9m rank) makes me think something needs to change drastically.

I'm really enjoying playing UFPL for the first time this season but I really think they need to take a long hard look at the prizes.

At the moment the prizes in UFPL are: 1st place overall gets £25k plus VIP treatment at a Premier League game (maybe another £1k or so?) There's also a £1k monthly prize. So that's £36k in total prizes. Sounds amazing right?

Well... there was an article on here recently comparing Fantasy Football to poker. Something poker does very well indeed that could be incorporated into UFPL is a decent prize structure. 1st prize £25k sounds superb until you realise that 2nd place gets zippo. So unless you think you're going to win the thing (or one of the monthly prizes which also don't have runners up) there's little financial incentive to enter.

The other problem is that they announce these prizes before entrance is complete. £36k in prizes seems pretty special until you realise that 22,891 people have stumped up a fiver each to enter. That's £113,455 or £78,455 clear profit for the organisers. Even accounting for overheads, in poker parlance that's one hell of a rake.

In my opinion they'd get far more players signing up if they paid the top 5-10% of the field (in poker it's nearer 10-15% but I can understand that the logistics may be tricky) with say 10-15% of the prizepool going to the winner. I don't mind at all the Premier League taking a rake but there's absolutely no way it should be three quarters of the prizepool. And if they implemented a less top heavy payout structure (which wouldn't be hard!) they'd have I would think upwards of 100,000+ people signing up, which would turn them a decent profit anyway and increase the popularity of their brand.

At the moment I'm ranked 52 in the world and I probably haven't got a prayer of seeing any return on my investment. From a field of over 22,000 that's a joke.

Agreed. I really enjoy it and don't mind paying a fiver but the prize structure defo needs a revamp. The fact that you can enter more than one team (apparently) also makes it even more difficult to win the monthly prizes if you only enter one team at the start. Some people will enter a new team each month and set the squad up especially for that month's fixtures

You may have a point here but then again it's not particulary important to me personally or the reasons I play.
What strikes me is your reference to your position of 52nd - post this again in 34 gameweeks time and tell me your position and how peeved you are about the 5 quid you've forked out.

Oops, don't know how I sent that. I was going to say I'm not sure how many more people they can get who are willing to pay £5 for what is almost certainly no chance of reward. I suspect they've already hit their ceiling when they could easily attract many more with better payouts.

Oxford, Depay & Benteke > Kolorov, Ayew & Wilson for -4?

Was going to get rid of Gomis, but maybe best to get rid of Tekkers. What do you think?

Cheers guys, I'm kind of chasing rises, but was just waiting for today's game to decide & decided against selling Gomis, but now Depay is really annoying me & has to go!!

Don't get rid of Benteke. He looked threatning vs Arsenal. could have got a brace.

Has 2 easy fixtures after United. And now after what mane and pelle did today we all know how it turns out after we sell someone with an easy fixture.

I'd love to see your team. Always enjoyed looking at them in the past. Still playing 5 heavy defenders?

Got lost on last page. Sorry for reposting. Too confused between Pedro and Sachez as replacements for Depay.

Which one do you suggest? Thanks!

    A template forming?

    Howard/ Myhill = 9.5
    Kolarov/ Shaw/ Naughton/ Francis/ Gomez (or Moreno) = 25.5
    Mahrez/ Pedro/ Ayew/ Yaya/ 4.5 = 39
    Aguero/ Gomis/ Wilson = 25.9

    Total cost 99.9mil
