As some of you know, I'm rather new to this site! A lot of the long term members have very strong feelings that the past seasons were "so much better"!

    Was it?
    Whats changed?
    Are they overreacting?
Or just having a bad season? 😉

        Yes, lovely cascading effect.

In answer to your questions, I think that in two of the last three seasons FFS people did really well compared to non-FFS people, and even in the other season (13-14) there was a strong benefit from following the FFS advice/template. This year we have all done less well than non-FFS people at the start. I reckon that will correct itself, but it causes a lot of moaning right now.

This season has been hard to predict...but we are a bit slow on the uptake most seasons. Yaya and Ramsey two years ago being a good case in point.

As a seasoned 'win the £££ work mini league at all costs' kinda guy where rank has never mattered to me, it just seems that this season in particular if you didnt sign the most transferred in player (round) by the time match of the day had finished you have been sorely punished

It's a little bit of the last one, but the comments are because FPL seems to have flipped on its head this season. None of the "expected" results are happening (West Ham being the prime example), and the big players upon which good teams are *normally* built are just not scoring points (even if they are still playing well e.g. Sanchez).

At first it seemed like "form" and felt random, but after 6 weeks it's still happening. That's why people are saying it.

I was top 200 last year, but about 2,500,000th so far this year. I just haven't read the performances well enough and stuck with the wrong players. So yes, the league is different this year (not better/worse), but for me personally I've made a lot of mistakes in reacting to it.

The FFS way of playing FPL worked better in past seasons, but that's not the same thing.

I'm in such a pickle. Everything I touch is turning to sheet.

    My Midfield at present is:

    Yaya / Silva / Sanchez / Ritchie / Albrighton

Probably the last person on earth without Mahrez. Just didn't seem plausible he would keep it up, but finally gonna have to give in.

Sanchez could easily score vs Leicester, and Silva has NEW & BOU after the Spurs game (and he is 10.2 after I bought him at 10.0).

Still, I am considering Mahrez, Hazard & Payet (like everyone else). Do I do it?

80/1 vs 1/500 apparently. I don't know much about rugby but I know SA are usually a power house. Huge upset.

I disagree. Argentina were holders of the World Cup and had by far the best player in the world. And it was at a time when African sides had never performed on the biggest stage.

I'm not a huge Rugby Union fan but SA don't look close to the side they once were.

Tunisia's decent performance in '78 was the start of the emergence of African clubs in world cups at a time when they only had 1 entry, their performances steadily improved and increased as they were given more spots in the finals.
Cameroon was a massive shock of course mainly because it was Maradonna & co but these kind of upsets had happened before and are always possible (even half expected) at a world cup.

By your table you should be getting in, say, Pelle. So clearly you let your eyes and experience tell you some things that are not on your tables. My eyes and experience tell me that Aguero will do better. I can't erase all of his past blanks by getting him out, so the question is purely about what I think he will do in the future, and I think he will score well in the next four or five matches,

The City spots thing is a decent point, but if you still have a City spot free, as I do, and you are not tight on funds, there is no pressure to lose Aguero.

Okay one more post before bed:

How do I get Payet and a Chelsea Mid into my current Midfield?

    Yaya - Sanchez - Mahrez - Coutinho

Got to be Coutinho + 1 other hasn't it?

Yaya perhaps, if you have Aguero. I think the midfield points are gonna be all over the place for City and there's too many choices to choose from.

I'm feeling like next week is the ideal time for me to play my bench boost chip.

    My team is:

    De Gea(SUN)
    Darmian(SUN) Cresswell(NOR) Kolarov(TOT) Gomez(AVL)
    Sanchez(LEI, VC) Payet(NOR) De Bruyne(TOT) Sako(WAT)
    Aguero(TOT, C) Wilson(STK)

    Bench: McCarthy(WAT) Mahrez(ARS) Gomis(SOU) Oxford(NOR)

What do you guys think? Good captaincy choices? Should I play my bench boost? I can't really think of anyone in the starting that I would want to bench, and the bench has some great options. You guys are the experts though haha give me a plan 😀
