It’s been a few weeks since we’ve covered Premier Punt, so we’re going to have a closer look at their unique single game contests that have recently been implemented. Firstly, though, we’re going to run though the weekly and Saturday-only games on offer as I attempt to turn my £100 pot into profit.

In both categories there are £2, £5, £10 and £20 entry games on offer, with a £50 winner-takes-all game contest as well for the more confident Fantasy managers. For the weekly ‘battles’ there are also guaranteed pots for £300 and £150 for a £5 and £3 stake respectively. There’s also a challenge the Pro’s game with £50 on offer that is free to enter.

In the single games, all ten fixtures are available and for these games, a five-player lineup is picked from the two teams. The rules are simple, there are no player valuations but you must pick at least one from each side involved. If one of your chosen five does not start the match then a player with the average score from that team is automatically picked instead. If one of your line-up is subbed then the oncoming player is assigned to your team, so it’s important to stick with the players that tend to play the full 90 minutes.

It’s worth noting as well that, while the standard scoring in the weekly and daily games mirrors that of the official game minus the bonus points, the single games have a different scoring matrix. For example, there are 40 points available for a goal, 15 for an assist but also points on offer for more unusual criteria such as blocked shots (five), corners won (three), crosses (three) and completed passes (one) amongst a few others including negative scoring (minus one for a failed pass). Be sure to have a look at the full list before picking a team.

If you want to try out this unusual format, this week there’s a free to enter £50 contest if you’re playing any paid game in the Tottenham versus Manchester City clash. Last week they had a similar pot on offer for Manchester United’s trip to Southampton and I entered a team that finished 37th with 332 points. There were joint winners, both of whom crucially had Graziano Pelle (138 points) and Anthony Martial (104) for their braces as well as Dusan Tadic (37) and Juan Mata (99), while Daley Blind and Sadio Mane were the only differences between their line-ups but both scored 64 points.

The Bottom Line

I’ve had a great season so far on PremierPunt – a second-placed finish in the opening Gameweek £5 game returned £25.87. I’ve also won £10.89 and £12.50 in other contests, while also losing a few stakes in the weeks since leaving me with a healthy £145.99 overall ahead of this weekend matches.

This Week’s Stake

Weekly – I’ve entered the £300 and £150 guaranteed pot games for a total of £8.80 and also put the full three line-ups available into a £50 free-roll.

Single games – I’m going to put three line-ups into the Spurs v City free game to get more familiar with the scoring system.

Stake – £8.80
Current balance – £137.90

Check out the Weekly Shop article for some of my thoughts on players to pick from this weekend’s fixtures. I’ll be back on Tuesday with coverage of the Champions League contests that PremierPunt are now offering.

Do it. All you need is for KDB to get an assist to get make it worthwhile.

Who to bench from this mid, if any.

    Ayew - Yaya - Sako - Shaq - Mahrez

    Forwards are:

    Aguero - Wilson - Gomis

    Thanks.

If i cant play Shaq vs Bournemouth why have him at all?

I think Shaq may be a good differential this week on my team.

I was thinking more between Ayew, Wilson or Gomis.

I'm not really convinced by Shaqiri or Stoke atm. Ayew, Wilson and Gomis will probably have a better chance of hitting points this week. But out of those three I'd say Gomis

Thanks all, its a tough call as all could do well, (or none of them in mid besides Mahrez last week)

I think i will be benching either Ayew or Gomis, due to the fact if swansea blank again, it will hurt the points!

Posted at end of last article:

    Myhill / Cech
    Gomez / Darm / Richards / Kolorov / Ward
    Ayew / Mahrez / Silva / Payet (C) / Pedro
    Diouf / Wilson / Aguero

    Already did 2FT to get Myhill/Cech in for Butland/Ruddy (knee-jerk, I know)

Question: would you sit on this, or take a -4 to bring in KDB for Silva?

I haven't played bench boost; Ward, Silva are injured and Gomez/Diouf may not play this week...

True, but when they're all fit, what are you going to do? Not really sure how you intend to rotate Myhill and Cech, for example.

You simply can't bench Pedro against such a poor Newcastle side. Bench Silva means you have less of a selection headache.

Agreed that having Cech and Myhill is very foolish -- I regretted the next morning. I guess I'm just concerned that Diouf/Silva/Gomez won't play, and then I'll be left a player short.

Diouf should figure, but if you need more cover then Silva out gives you the option of benching Diouf. He's home to Bournemouth though, so tricky!

This hangup on horizontal/sideways moves is a fiction. Most transfers are from one player to another player that you think will score better. If your objection is to transfer out a healthy and possibly productive player under any circumstances, then say so. Otherwise, Sterling to KDB is no different that Sterling to Hazard--the question is whether the transferred-in player is a better bet.

To be fair, QPR were a little gung-ho while Watford are more balanced. No harm in having an attacker from a gung-ho team.

              A "little gung-ho" is a huge underestimation.

And Watford's approach is rather reserved.

Most people would probably be shipping Wilson or Vardy for him and they're both in decent form and have had similar returns so it's kind of a sideways move... good differential if you have a free transfer though.

Sorry Demi...actually wanted Doos' thoughts on the below (given i know he doesnt like Pedro)

Based on stats (and not your interpretation of them!) and fixtures this week only, would you bring in Pedro or KDB for Silva?

Already have Aguero and Kolorov. KDB or Silva would come in next week (for Coutinho) if i went with Pedro

From Telegraph, who remind us of the long feud between José and Arsène:

"It should therefore be no surprise that Mourinho lay into the Frenchman. The things is, did anybody actually ask Jose about Wenger?"

hey fellas..anything needed doing with this lot?

    Myhill
    Kolorov, Martin, Nyom, Gomez
    Sanchez, Pedro, Payet, Mahrez
    Agureo, Gomis

    McCarthy, Richards, Kone, Barry
    1FT - 3.8m remaining

Thinking Gomez out or I could offload Kone for Maritial?

Sterling isn't a good choice. Get hauled off far too early and rarely gets a whole game.

          Against a Sunderland B team...

Like I said, he will rarely get a full game. 60-70 minutes reduces his potential for attacking points.

    Who to start?

    A) Diouf (BOU)
    B) Ritchie (sto)

Hughes has said Diouf is available but is a cameo more likely for him? Ritchie probably the safer option but more upside to Diouf.

I was going to play the AOA chip, but am undecided now Kompany is fit to play.

    Butland (Myhill)
    Darmian, Prodl, Kompany, Richards, Gomez
    Sanchez, Yaya, Pedro, Payet, Mahrez
    Kun, Wilson, Ighalo

    1 FT, 0.1 ITB

    Should I ?

    A) Play the AOA chips and bench Kompany, Richards, Gomez
    B) Play Kompany and bench one of the front 8 (which)
    C) Use the FT for Gomez to Moreno and bench one of the front 8 (which)
    D) Other (what)

    Stuck on last post

Mahrez is still my captain choice. Even if his stats aren't the best, he's still riding the form train, involved in everything Leicester do, playing at home where he has done well and Arsenal are going to be playing without Coq and possibly Gabriel.

Any really compelling reason to go with Kun/Sanchez instead, other than last season's points?

fear - thought that's not a good enough reason.

well, there's really no upside to owning Mahrez at the moment unless you captain him. Worth a shot.

    BREAKINGArsenal's Gabriel one match ban
    Football
    Posted at 17:10
Arsenal defender Gabriel will serve a one-match ban after admitting a charge of improper conduct.

The defender's appeal against his red card for a clash with Diego Costa during the 2-0 defeat at Chelsea was successful earlier this week.

He will though serve a ban for his behaviour after his sending off, and was also fined £10,000 and warned as to his future conduct.

That sounds quite arbitrary. When, if ever, has a player got a ban for that reason before? And how long did that player have to actually stay on the pitch after being sent off?

Imo, he got it for Mou's mind games.

He's one of the most in-form players atm and Leicester are scoring goals for fun. No Coq and Gabriel will hurt Arsenal's defensive prospects imo.
