Georginio Wijnaldum scores four times as Newcastle rout Norwich at St James’. Magpies front two Ayoze Perez and Aleksandar Mitrovic also get on the scoresheet, whilst strikes from Dieumerci Mbokani and Nathan Redmond offer scant consolation for the beaten Canaries.

Wijnaldum Grabs Four for Magpies

Newcastle registered their first win of the season in astounding fashion at St James’ Park, putting Norwich City to the sword in a 6-2 mauling. Georginio Wijnaldum etched his name into the Magpies’ folklore with a four-goal haul that included two headers and a pinpoint long-range effort to cap off the scoring. Priced at 6.8 and now sitting joint-second in the league scoring charts with six goals, the Netherlands international – who had produced points against Chelsea and City in the previous two Gameweeks – will doubtless enjoy a huge increase on his 2% ownership ahead of an excellent quintet of match-ups (sun, STO, bou, LEI, cry).

Elsewhere in the Magpies’ midfield, Moussa Sissoko racked up three assists from his role on the right flank. Notwithstanding the impressive nature of his performance against the Canaries, Fantasy managers might adjudge Sissoko (5.7) to be priced a little steep, given that he tallied just four goals and three assists last term and has only mustered five attempts this season.

Up top, Ayoze Perez produced a goal and an assist for the second home match in succession. The 5.1-priced striker had achieved the same feat against Chelsea in Gameweek 7 and rewarded the 9,000 managers that drafted him in prior to the deadline. Aleksandar Mitrovic’s 7,000 new owners witnessed the Serbian frontman net his second goal in as many starts. Deployed in a 4-4-2 set-up, both forwards harbour the potential to be valuable low-priced pick-ups as Newcastle face off against two of the league’s bottom four defences (Sunderland and Bournemouth) over the next four Gameweeks.

Daryl Janmaat underlined his rich potential for attacking returns with the assist for Wijnaldum’s hat-trick strike. Having amassed two more shots on target (six) than any defender this term, the 4.9-priced right-back’s Fantasy worth is evident, but a lack of confidence in Newcastle’s clean sheet prospects has deterred many. Afforded a strong run of fixtures, there’s arguably no better time for prospective Janmaat investors to snap him up.

Redmond in the Goals Again

Norwich’s rearguard bent and then buckled under the force of Newcastle’s resurgent attack, extending their winless streak to four matches. Dieumerci Mbokani gave the visitors reason to be cheerful with an equaliser at the 20-minute mark, yet that proved to be a mere footnote among a compendium of defensive errors. Nonetheless, the Congolese frontman looks to have ousted Cameron Jerome as the Canaries lone striker – after scoring against Leicester last time out and netting over the international break, he was handed his first start yesterday. Mbokani could offer value at 5.7, although the Canaries upcoming fixtures (WBA, mci, SWA, che, ARS) are far from accommodating.

Nathan Redmond bagged his fourth goal of the campaign in his first start since Gameweek 6. Alex Neil has employed the England U21 star as an impact player of late but will surely now be inclined to hand Norwich’s top scorer a sustained run on the right flank, with his side now just three points clear of the drop zone. Pitched at 5.6, the 7%-owned Redmond could subsequently claw back some of the 70,000 owners he’s shed in the past four Gameweeks.

Martin Olsson was handed a start at left-back, as Neil pushed Robbie Brady into midfield. The 4.4-priced Swede chalked up two assists, drawing attention to his potential as a budget defensive option. That being said, few managers will be tempted to recruit from a Norwich backline that ranks top for goals conceded (20), shots inside the box conceded (90) and big chances conceded (24) this term.

I have already cost myself -4pts this game week. If I wanted to make further transfers and triggered my WC, will the -4pts be waived?

Get a 2nd playing keeper or dump Richards. Realistically though, Richards plays so is ideal bench fodder.

Its between Spurs/Southampton defence for me. I was more inclined to Southampton before Spurs got out of the Pool game with a cleanie.

I am taking another week maybe to assess. But for this week, it's got to be Spurs.

Good question, i'm an owner and I'm considering transferring out. There's issues there between him and Mou. There's clearly issues in the camp too. Just don't think Hazard is happy at the moment. Mental state is important for a player.

Based on Mourinho's comments, it looks like Haz will be on the bench for the foreseeable, that's alot of money sat on the bench!

          I'd ignore everything Mou says.

Remember they also have a CL game this week, very possible he wanted to leave Hazard out regardless. All he's doing is trying to aggravate Hazard into better performances imo.

Still, I'd be ditching Haz because he's not 100% nailed at this moment, and he's not been worth the price at all.

            • 12 Years

Mou said Hazard was left out for tactical reasons. Think about the effect that can have on a player. The player will be wondering, I'm the best player at the club, I was instrumental in winning the league last season and I've been singled out.

Hazard hasn't responded to being benched earlier in the season. Can't see how this latest episode will.

I'm not saying its a smart way to approach handling him, but I don't believe a word Mourinho says. Tactical reasons against Aston Villa? Stinks of bs to me. I'll wait and see what happens with the CL game, and see if Hazard continues to be benched.

Yes, let's see in the mid week game, if there are signs of improvement. My concern is more that Hazard isn't happy atm, which is affecting his performances.

i agree it's definitely a strong message of intent from Mou, Hazard needs to lift and this might be the only way to do that. Mou knows Haz won Chels the league last year and needs him back to his best desperately.

His avg position in that game was quite advanced as well. I should have drafted him into fpl that same week as he went on to get his double assists but I waited a wk too much. If you're considering bringing him in though, be wary that he is on 4 yc's.

My defense is a shambles, had a shocking game week!

I have already cost myself -4pts. Is it worth WC this lot? Or save it?

Probably, I have Howard for Myhill's tough fixtures and my only non-playing defender is Kolarov

Hi guys, first time poster. Long time lurker.
I planned on doing my transfers very late last week. Ph died put on charge and fell asleep, unfortunately with kun (c) kolorov (vc) and facing the guy top in my h2h ml. Could use some advice.

    Myhill/Schmiechel
    Kolorov/Ivanovic/Cedric/Prodil/Francis
    Payet/Mahrez/Hazard/Ayew/Bentaleb
    Kun/Iglaho/Martial

    .6 itb and 2 ft.
I'm thinking ivan/hazard/kun/ayew to monreal/sanchez/kdb/Costa for exact money and a -8... or should I just wc now and be done with it?

I'd hold ayew and try to ship bentaleb instead (of course wait and see today's game first). Maybe getting Pelle/Lukaku in instead of Costa so you can shift bentaleb instead

        Oh that's depressing...

        Total Captain points : 100
Possible Captain Points if you Always Captained Highest Gameweek Scorer : 210

110 points I've dropped on iffy captains (read Aguero) already!? 😐

    Bertrand vs Van Dijk?

Both have attacking returns, i'm leaning towards Van Dijk though

I know Aguero is supposedly out until 21st Nov but I need to plan my transfers to make it easy to bring him back.

When he is back would you rather have Aguero, Vardy and Pelle in a 343 or Aguero, Vardy and Walcott in a 352?

Got Walcott currently and he has West Brom, Norwich, Sunderland and Villa right about the time Aguero is back, be daft to sell him.

I think Walcott is still a rotation risk and he woundn't play 90 min every week Giroud will get his time to

I had Kolarov, Dawson, Williams, Ward, Richards
I bought Kolarov at 5.5, and I did Kolarov >> Bellerin yesterday

My reasoning was that I want a cheap defense with 2x 4.5
Dawson or Williams might become a Bertrand if I got spare FTs

Could I get you chaps to rate my stupidity from 1 (good move) to 4?

What is going to happen with Mahrez? He has not started recently, but after the weekends cameo, do you think he will start from here on out again?

I was thinking of dropping him for Wijnaldum (Magpies have quite a good run of fixtures coming up) and maybe want to get the price rise as well?

I do need to change Krul though, out for the season, I had 8 injuries this past game week, had to spend 16 points to have 10 players starting! still have 3 injuries, Krul change to Butland would take that down to 2 and get price increase on Butland

I think I have answered my own question, Krul for Butland (will get price increase in any case with Jack) and have Mahrez fit and starting hopefully

Friends My team for GW 10

    1. Butland.
    2. Martin Smalling. Kolarov
    3. Sánchez, Payet, Ayew, Mahrez
    4. Lukaku, Pellè, Vardy

    Subs: Guzan Wanyama, Morgan, Gomez

I am also thinking to replace Wanyama by Ozil or Wijnaldum and Keep Lukaku on the bench.
So friends suggest me b/w Ozil &Wijnaldum whom shall I go for.
