Harry Kane scores twice as Tottenham sweep aside West Ham at the Lane. Christian Eriksen serves up a pair of assists, whilst Manuel Lanzini bags his third goal in five outings for the beaten visitors.

Kane at the Double

Courtesy of a resounding 4-1 victory against West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur extended their unbeaten streak to 12 matches yesterday. Impressively, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are now the top scorers at home, with 15 goals, and they have recorded just two losses in their previous 20 ties at White Hart Lane.

Harry Kane’s 140,000 new owners were richly rewarded when he netted either side of the half. The 9.4-priced forward now has seven goals in his last four starts and 10 goals in 14 London derbies – which bodes well for a home clash against Chelsea next Gameweek. Moreover, Kane chalked up five more shots on target (13) than any other forward across the last four Gameweeks, underlining the form of Tottenham’s attack as a whole – incidentally, their 12 shots on target against the Hammers was the best of any team in a single match this term.

Spurs Defence Shows Attacking Edge

Spurs’ defence came up trumps for their other two goals. Toby Alderweireld scored with a near-post header and, along with Eric Dier, has netted twice this term – the Belgian’s ten attempts inside the box is more than any other defender in the top flight this term.

Kyle Walker notched his first goal in two years with a sublime finish and, at 5.0, continues to offer the cheapest route into Pochettino’s backline. In spite of their unbeaten run, though, Spurs are finding clean sheets hard to come by, with just a single shut-out in the last seven Gameweeks. Although Jan Vertonghen has yet to score, Alderweireld and Walker, along with Dier, present a strong claim for investment ahead of a relatively favourable end to the year (CHE, wba, NEW, sou, NOR, wat).

Eriksen in the Points

Christian Eriksen (8.4) put his name into the mid-priced hat with a brace of assists against the Hammers. The Danish playmaker lays claims to two goals and six assists in 10 outings and ranks second behind Mesut Ozil (19) for key passes (16) in the last four Gameweeks. Allied with his knack for crucial goals and free-kick proficiency, Eriksen should enjoy an increase on his modest 6% ownership as Spurs build momentum heading into the winter.

Dele Alli (5.0) highlighted his burgeoning potential as a budget midfielder – grabbing his third assist in six starts – but ended the afternoon on a sour note when he received a fifth yellow for ill-discipline, ruling him out of the Blues clash. Heung-Min Son also claimed an assist and excelled in his fourth Premier League start, casting doubt over Erik Lamela’s security of starts in the long-term. Nonetheless, both are likely to start next Gameweek in the wake of Alli’s suspension.

Lanzini Nets Hammers Consolation

The Irons’ heavy defeat at the hands of Spurs marked the first time they’ve conceded four on the road for two years. It was also their first head-to-head since Dimitri Payet sustained a serious ankle injury, inevitably raising concerns over West Ham’s ability to maintain their hitherto lofty standards in the Frenchman’s absence.

With Payet out of the picture, Manuel Lanzini justified the recent upturn in Fantasy interest by grabbing the visitors’ late consolation. Assisted by substitute Nikica Jelavic, the Argentine boasts three goals and an assist in the last five Gameweeks and is starting to emerge as a prime pick among the sub-5.5 midfielders. Afforded a central role in the number ten berth now that Payet is out of the picture, Lanzini will serve as their creative hub – potentially boosting his potential for attacking returns – though with clashes against West Brom, United and Stoke’s defences in the next three, Slaven Bilic’s side may find goals hard to come by.

    My mid and front is:

    Snchez - Mahrez - Deulofeu - Sterling
    Aguero - Vardy - Kane

1ft. Any ideas? Maybe Sterling out for Coutinho?

I think the only reason I am topping my mini-league after a terrible start to the season is because i haven't had a captain fail since GW5 lol 🙂

I'd be interesting in knowing too. All seems to have gone quiet on that front.

Did say a while ago I wondered if he would be out longer than initially expected as we hadn't heard much. If he was out until next year I'd definitely keep Myhill I think (I currently own him)

I think I'm now settled on Smalling to be the fall guy for Aguero. 🙁

His replacement, Moreno has very good defensive fixtures.

Gonna do Pelle+Wijnaldum+Smalling ➡ Aguero+Moreno+Stanislas for -8 later in the week.

    Team would then be-

    Myhill - McCarthy
    Bellerin - Coleman - Moreno - Nyom - Targett
    Sanchez - KDB - Mahrez - Bolasie - Stanislas
    Aguero - Kane - Lukaku

    0.2m in the bank.

Then next week if Ozil/Cout keep on performing then they come in for the one who fails to perform out of Sanchez/KDB.

With Benteke and Sturridge about to return, would Firmino not be the most at risk of getting benched?
Last game was the perfect game to have him, a great punt from IM, but wouldn't Coutinho be a lot more secure way of getting in to the Liverpool midfield?

Which transfer should I do guys?

    a) Darmian ➡ Cathcart (to fund Pelle ➡ Aguero GW15)

    or

    b) Darmian ➡ Bellerin, forget about Aguero for now and get Kane instead (already have Monreal).

Used my transfer this week and going to stick with Ighalo for the next 3. What set of moves would you do after that?

    Myhll Mccarthy
    Bellerin Kolarov Rojo Moreno Oxford
    Sanchez KDB Ozil Mane Mahrez
    Vardy Lukaku Ighalo

    2.4 itb

    A) Mane and Ighalo to Lanzini and Kane
    B) Mane, KDB and Ighalo to Lingard/4.5, Coutinho and Aguero

    Some tables for Members.

One Stat to Rule Them All. Focuses on Shots on Targets. Last 4 GWKs tends to be the best judge. Good for finding out the strikers and attacking mids in form. Big Chances another good indicator on this one.

    http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/11275/

Goals Imminent - All change in goals imminent with players either scoring or falling off due to lack of form. New lot focuses heavily on one team in particular

    http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/6070/

Assist Imminent- Erkisen leaps off in style. Still a small list but a well transferred out player dominates….will they be regretting that move after this weekend?

He's staying with me for the time being. These imminent tables have been unnervingly accurate (although the wait for a Sanchez goal still continues) in recent weeks.

The problem is you don't want to bench no.5 with those stats, you'd have to play him, or you could miss those BIG points.

He is in essence bench fodder, however, if he xplodes when you've benched him, that's a shot in the foot. You just can't ignore those numbers IMO.

I much prefer to logically bench a player who scores and goes up in value rather than a player who can only get 2pt maximum ever and also loses value. That's the 5th mid conundrum - you want them to do well, but not that well.

I have Pelle on the bench this week so he would be playing for this good tie....and then a great fifth mid over xmas hopefully when he'll be needed. I do like a 5th mid strategy and ditching it in recent weeks has been a hard lesson to learn. But at the same time I do like my fifth mids to have some promise of goals - if only to retain their value. Not keen on these Westwood chaps.

Not on these tables but I also have my eye on James Morrison at WBA. Great Xmas fixtures.

      I'm not convinced Jonty.

You can have any variety of quality of shots on target and a shot straight into the keeper's arms time and time again still won't get you many points.

There are always exceptions. Its a case of spotting them by watching matches. Balotelli was the best example. He was ever present on last year's table, even with limited game time. Lots of rubbish shots.

But this season almost everyone has delivered eventually. I actually thought Coutinho would remain their forever as his shots were many but very poor. He's got better though.

I disagree, historically we have seen high no. of shots on target eventually lead to points.

We saw this with Pelle this season. Watching the games, he looks poor, analyse the stats and they're impressive. I was one to transfer out after GW3, despite being aware of his stats. Patience is key in FPL.

All about shots on target with Pelle. He is very inaccurate so the key stat to watch out for is goal attempts - he need far more than most strikers to get actual goals. I'll be switching him out soon. Just can't compete with Kane/Vardy/Lukaku/Aguero/Ighalo currently.

Mark has Kane, Lukaku and Vardy so he looks pretty set. That is probably the way I'll go too. Not owning Kane scares me more than not owning Aguero. Not sure on Granville - he'll probably go Aguero I should think.

This clearly indicates who should be assisting any Kun goals us non-owners will miss, yet many a Aguero buyer is taking hits to remove him. Very few are keeping KDB alongside Aguero, so should the latter explode we could be well covered with just owning KDB.
