Second meets fourth in Tuesday’s solitary fixture, as Leicester City play host a to a resurgent Manchester City outfit. The Foxes were held to a blank for the first time this season last Gameweek, while the Sky Blues maintained their home dominance with a 4-1 win over Sunderland.

Notwithstanding their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool, Leicester ranked joint-top for goals (eight) over the previous four Gameweeks. They did, however, chart fifth-bottom for attempts (42) and joint-third-bottom for shots inside the box (27), revealing a drop-off in their shot frequency. On the defensive front, Claudio Ranieiri’s unit were perhaps fortunate to only concede four goals, given that they allowed the third-most shots inside the box (39) and fourth-most big chances (nine).

Man City were wildly unpredictable over the past six Gameweeks, recording three wins and as many defeats. The Sky Blues have amassed 10 more home goals (29) than any side this term, yet only four teams have netted fewer times on their travels (eight) than Manuel Pellegrini’s men. In fact, Man City registered just three goals in their last half-dozen road fixtures, so there’s a chance this match-up could be a more attritional affair than many will predict.

Oh, wait... The tie breaker is actually 'most goals scored in the Gameweek' and not the numbe of transfers as I thought. So, I need 0 points from Moreno 😀 4 Borini goals or a red card are required 😉

How can Howard Webb say that's not a penalty? I don't care if his arms are up or if its theatrical, it's a blatent penalty. Happy he didn't get it but still a penalty

I'm a united fan but that looked so stonewall. Seen that given so many times. It was clumsy from Inler.

This for sure. I thought he'd cop a yellow card for the dive.

I just don't see it that way. Inler has reached for the ball and aguero has knocked it to the side. He didn't get a touch even though he's put his leg in aguero's path. It's got to be a penalty.

        1. Pasqualinho
          • 16 Years
          9 years, 12 months ago

He dived, though. Whether there was contact or not (and I think there was some contact) he kicked his heels in the air and launched his arms out wide. He did this by choice, not because the challenge forced him to. This is simulation even if it was a penalty - and I wish they'd reword the rules so that referees can book players even if it is a foul.

If players do not go down they don't get penalties. I think Gary Neville is spot on in his analysis of players going down. At the end of the day, the way you go down should be irrelevant if there was enough contact to go down. If his hands were down, you;d probably say it's a penalty which is just ludicrous.

            1. Pasqualinho
              • 16 Years
              9 years, 12 months ago

If you choose to go down rather than being knocked down, then it's a dive - by definition. If players were correctly sanctioned for doing so, they would stop doing it - therefore making the game easier to referee.

Gary Neville (and you) have a point - if the players don't simulate, they sometimes don't get penalties - I will admit that - but it doesn't make it right.

To put it context, I would be interesting to know your thoughts on Otamendi going down clutching his face when he got a stroke on the nose. There was definite contact there too, but does that justify Otamendi's reaction or was he trying to cheat?

I do agree that there is a level of contact that has to be reached but when a player moves his foot across your body and you don't get the ball, you're in big trouble. I wish we could play football where going down isn't a necessity to win penalties however unless european competitions do it, we'll always have what we have now. I think the game has developed where being clever enough to win a penalty has become a huge part of the game. It's tough for defender but that's just the way it is.

I personally believe there was enough contact to warrant a penalty, and to be honest he should be punished for the clumsy decision to go across aguero in search of the ball.

possibly latter, though could save 2 transfers as arnie played last match and could miss this, also fitness concersn regards aguero as was taken off after 60 mins against leicester and not played against sunderland. Is a substantial investment.

Moreno (sun) Dawson (STK) Bellerin (NEW)

Vardy (BOU) Lukaku (spu) Kane (EVE)

Bench: Ward (CHE) Watson (MCI) Richards (sun)
