You’re looking at the new Fantasy Football Scout.

After around 18-months of design, re-design, wireframing, coding and testing we are very proud to reveal the fresh new look.

I’d like to extend a huge thanks to Will for his initial design and Dougal and Ed for building the new site, plus PureOlivia for his new version of the Season Ticker.

In addition, I’d like to thank for the following (in no particular order) for their help testing the site over the last few weeks:

Jonty, TorresMagic, Spencer, D1sable, Andy, Evs, Beavis, Doolittle, Kavali, Bowstring the Trout, Green Windmill, Balders, Sarjaent, Ryan, Kings of Lyon, Rakkhi.

You won’t be surprised to know that the new site is now fully compatible with mobile and tablet – it’s a fully responsive design that will adapt to your screen resolution accordingly.

If you’re accessing on mobile or tablet in portrait mode you will see a different version to desktop, allowing you to read articles and join discussions far more easily and effectively.

The mobile and tablet versions have viewing options which are available via a series of buttons under the top featured story on the homepage.

buttons

Use these buttons to view Recent Comments, the Twitter feed and the regular sidebar elements – including a new version of the Season Ticker. We’ve tried to ensure that mobile and tablet users have the same tools available as those on desktop – have a play and get acquainted.

If you view the site on table in landscape mode, you will shift to the small desktop version – if this is not the case, try updating your device.

Myself, Jonty and the moderation team are going to be about today to answer as many of your queries and issues. I’ve added a short FAQ below to hopefully address any immediate questions.

Why have we made this change?

We had to move FFS to be more friendly on mobile devices. Just over a year ago Google started penalising sites in search results should they fail to be mobile compatible. While we chose not to rush out a quick fix to address this, we knew we had to accelerate work on a new site to overcome this issue. Hopefully we’ve now made the site far more accessible for those using mobile and tablet devices, in addition to improving the site for desktop users – we hope.

How can I report a bug or issue?

We’ve done some pretty extensive testing of the new site but, inevitably, there will be bugs we’ve missed across some devices and browsers. If you think you’ve found an issue, please report this in the comments or, ideally, via email.

Mail us at support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk .

Please include as much detail as possible, including your device, your browser and your browser version. A screenshot would also be useful if you’re sending us your issue via email.

Can I give feedback on the new site?

Of course. Please use the support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk address to mail us with any feedback or ideas or the comment threads to offer your views.

We’re aware that such a big change can be jarring and that we will all need time to get used to the new site.

Please be patient with us while we iron out any creases and fix any issues that remain.

Why hasn’t the members area changed?

We’ve decided to apply the new look to just the main site for now. Over the summer we will consider applying the design to the members area to also make this more friendly on mobile and tablet.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Just me, or does it feel like the sidebar has taken over? The comments section feels somewhat squashed. Swanky new look though.

Yeah felt this way too on desktop earlier.

So many white space "wasted". (Well it is sort of the trend nowadays). But it really does seems squashed.

Also there's the fixed bar up top which makes the comment section even smaller.

Zoom out to 90% on chrome if you've got a big monitor and strangely it looks better!

Definitely is! Always zoomed out by default anyway in the old site.

I love how the Recommended artcles falls perfectly on that middle slot.

But yeah just a slight OCD because I know it's not the intended design, just want this to be perfect by default 🙂

On tablet if you go portrait it's a full page of comments, which is cool 🙂

Agreed ! I spend 95% of my time reading comments and only 5% looking at watchlist + captain poll + suspension tightrope, etc... It would be great if the comments section could be made bigger by default

Got to say this new layout is far from helpful. The main reason I use the members area is for the season ticker and it's not user friendly at all. Can't get it all on one screen.

Any fixes for that in the piepline. . . as barring plugging my laptop in to my TV screen it ain't going ot work.

The Jamie Vardy with 3 goals in his last 15 games?

      Not very.

    2. Koflok

I wouldn't say nailed on. But he's first choice over Mertesacker.

Will play most of the game. Merte will play 2-3 games, 1-2 replacing Gabriel; 1 replacing Kosc.

At that price, form, and fixture; he's worth the risk.

I'd take a SGW Gabriel on GW 34 over any other SGW and DGW at that price range.

    3. zotter
      • 16 Years

          • 12 Years
          9 years, 8 months ago

I'm leaning this way too. Even if his DGW is only a SGW for him, it'll be in a plum fixture.

Help with one week punt before wildcard?

Butland's injury means I was looking to Courtois or Cech. However, Williams (stk) probably won't get a clean sheet and I feel like I am playing him for the sake of it, I don't have any other options. I was looking to replace Butland/Williams with an Arsenal or Chelsea equivalent. My queston is which one should I shift? If I don't replace Butland, I play Schmeichel (SOU). Thanks.

Quality can beat quantity. Depends on who you get etc.

Depends if you think your 14 DGWs can outscore your 15 DGW 37 by 12 points 😉

In general, not a fan of 3 hits for a chip. I'd be happy to field 10-11 DGW if no WC and work my way for GW 37.

Unless you're gonna do hits too on GW 37... then yeah nah

No will build slowly to 37

Also allows me to avoid 35 pitfalls from Everton west ham and United overload

Ta. Risky though as will likely see me getting smashed by others in 34

Getting the TC right in 34 is key. Aguero I assume ?

£3.2m and 2 FTs. Wildcarding next week so 2 punts for this week.

    Starting lineup currently:

    Forster
    Bellerin | Huth | Alderwiereld
    Mahrez | Silva | Siggy | Willian
    Aguero | Kane | Vardy

    Thinking:
    Forster to Courtois
    Silva to Payet

    Thoughts? Any other suggestions?

Sounds fine. City struggling away. And Silva struggling in general. I'm only holdding as don't have a WC

Have to be honest, i prefer the mobile site to how it was - very usable and a great piece of work. The desktop version though i will have to take some time with. First impressions is that there is a lot of dead space and the comments column is a bit mushed up. HOWEVER this is prob because i've been here so long i'm stuck in my ways. Will give it a go and hopefully get more comfortable with it.
Regardless, congratulations on a HUGE piece of work being completed and working well. Good job all

If you zoom out on desktop, it starts to look more as it did, with less white space.

          Going with that 😉

Fair enough. 150% make it like a phone with no right side.

Curse you FFS, first my Wildcard over 2 weeks being tempted to do lots of different teams, and now this....

As a user of a crappy windows phone, I'm gonna disagree here, this new site is literally 5x faster to use and easier to navigate now. No more zooming on every little detail so I can actually read anything on a tiny screen, everything scales perfectly.

Which seems best for bringing in Ivanovic (2FTs) (final punt before WC33):

    A) VVD + Moreno -> Ivan + Oxford (playing Dawson + Williams as well as Siggy or Alli)

    B) Moreno + Siggy -> Ivan + Traore/Lanzini (bench Alli)

    C) VVD + Alli -> the above (bench Siggy)

Will Vertonghen come straight back in or do you think Wimmer can keep his place?

I think Vertonghen will be eased back. Probably benched for one or two.

Blimey, I've just made my first post about football on the new site.

We had some fairly major issues earlier today. We've done some optimisations but there are more to come in the next 48-hours and probably further ones next week.

New site works well on phone, possibly at the expense of how it looks on laptop/ desktop but I guess some compromise has to be made with these things
