Following on from my article on midfielders, here is a Points Per Game (PPG) comparison of the five top scoring Fantasy Premier League forwards and five Wildcard attacking punts vying for a place in our double Gameweeks squads. I have added in a home and away analysis as well as their PPG over the last four games to spot any players with stocks on the rise.
The Wildcard Punts
Aleksandar Mitrovic
Team: Newcastle United
Price: 6.2m
Total Score: 86
PPG: 3.2
Home PPG: 3.2
Away PPG: 3.7
PPG Last 4 Games: 5
His season PPG looks poor, but factor in the Rafalution at Newcastle and he looks to be hot property in terms of recent form. Since the former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss took charge against Leicester in Gameweek 30 Mitrovic has tallied 19 points, that’s an impressive Rafa-era PPG of 6.3.
Marcus Rashford
Team: Manchester United
Price: 4.5m
Total Score: 29
PPG: 5.8
Home PPG: 6.7
Away PPG: 4.5
PPG Last 4 Games: 3.3
Rashford burst onto the scene in GW27, with a brace that put Arsenal’s title challenge to the sword. He only has one goal in the league since then however, and with Wayne Rooney’s return imminent may be one to avoid.
Danny Welbeck
Team: Arsenal
Price: 7.4m
Total Score:
PPG: 4.8
Home PPG: 3
Away PPG: 6.7
PPG Last 4 Games: 3.3
Since his return from injury in GW26, Welbeck has served up three goals and an assist, and boasts an impressive away PPG of 6.7. However, with Olivier Giroud looming and only one goal in his three home appearances is he a mistake waiting to be made?
Daniel Sturridge
Team: Liverpool
Price: 9.9
Total Score: 37
PPG: 5.8
Home PPG: 6.7
Away PPG: 5
PPG Last 4 Games: 6 (nb. only last 2 games due to injury)
Sturridge has the potential to explode in this double gameweek, with fixtures and form on his side, he seems to be back to full fitness. However, with Liverpool still being in the Europa League, he may be susceptible to rotation as Klopp looks to keep a key asset fit.
Anthony Martial
Team: Manchester United
Price: 7.6m
Total Score: 110
PPG: 4.4
Home PPG: 5.6
Away PPG: 3.2
PPG Last 4 Games: 4.5
An impressive home PPG of 5.6 having played 12 home matches renders him an enticing prospect for United’s home ties with relegation-resigned Aston Villa and a faltering Crystal Palace.
Top FPL Scorers
Romelu Lukaku
Team: Everton
Price: 9m
Total Score: 169
PPG: 5.6
Home PPG: 5.6
Away PPG: 5.7
PPG Last 4 Games: 4
Having only blanked against bottom-half opposition four times throughout the season and with three double Gameweeks between now and the end of the season, Big Rom looks nailed on to start and with five of his final eight games against weaker teams, along with Southampton at home, expect some monster hauls.
Troy Deeney
Team: Watford
Price: 5.2m
Total Score: 132
PPG: 4.3
Home PPG: 4
Away PPG: 4.5
PPG Last 4 Games: 3.5
With two double Gameweeks coming up he would appear to be a strong option, but quite frankly he’s already in the Bahamas with the rest of his teammates having achieved safety.
Jamie Vardy
Team: Leicester City
Price: 7.8m
Total Score: 184
PPG: 5.8
Home PPG: 6
Away PPG: 5.5
PPG Last 4 Games: 3.5
Leicester are shutting up shop to eke out their first title, at the apparent expense of Jamie Vardy’s goals. Vardy has been playing out wide and his stats have dropped dramatically as a result. Quite rightly he is riding high in the transfers out table.
Sergio Aguero
Team: Manchester City
Price: 13.5m
Total Score: 132
PPG: 5.7
Home PPG: 7
Away PPG: 4
PPG Last 4 Games: 5.5
His home PPG of 7 will please many as West Brom visit the Etihad, however, an away PPG of 4 does not make him look as strong a double Gameweek option as anticipated. The most explosive player in the league on his day, he will have to be firing on all cylinders to score past Chelsea and Newcastle’s newly tightened defences, alongside another match against Paris Saint Germain and a potential Champions League semi final berth.
Harry Kane
Team: Tottenham
Price: 10.4m
Total Score: 184
PPG: 5.9
Home PPG: 5.4
Away PPG: 6.3
PPG Last 4 Games: 10.8
To Kane or not to Kane, that is the question. The league’s form striker by a country mile, Kane’s lack of a double Gameweek is causing many to relocate funds. But with Spurs still in the Premier League title race, is Kane too good to sell?
Conclusion
Picking three men for our forward lines is possibly the hardest task for any Fantasy manager. Personally, I am looking at Kane, Lukaku, Martial as a forward line, with Aguero’s price tag and away form playing second fiddle to Martial’s incredible home form and easy double Gameweek 34 fixtures.
