With his red card in the loss to Everton, it’s Bolton’s David Wheater who took Saturday’s disciplinary headlines. His clumsy lunge on Everton’s Diniyar Bilyaletdinov resulted in his second red of the season, earning him an immediate three-match ban which is topped up with an additional match, due to the previous red. Wheater will now serve a band from gameweeks 14 to 17 (tot, AVL, ful, bla) returning to contention on Boxing Day. Having filled in at right-back today, his absence is set to leave Bolton a little short following the injury to Joe Riley. The return of Dedryck Boyata from his own setback, can’t come soon enough for Owen Coyle.

Joining Wheater on the ban list for next weekend is Newcastle’s Jonas Gutierrez; his pair of yellows for Newcastle at Old Trafford means he’ll be missing when Chelsea visit St James’ Park next weekend. Meanwhile, despite a fifth yellow for John Terry in the 3-0 win over Wolves, the Chelsea skipper will still make that fixture. Strategic or not, his one match suspension will rule him out of the Carling Cup clash with Liverpool on Tuesday making him eligible for the Newcastle clash.

On to the Suspension Tightrope, and we have a couple of willing volunteers to take Terry’s vacated space, with Yohan Cabaye of Newcastle and Wolves’ Karl Henry joining party. Both earned their fourth yellows, picked up in the games against Manchester United and Chelsea respectively.

Gameweek 14 Bans

  • Antolin Alcaraz (Wigan) – FA Charge (1 remaining match)
  • David Wheater (Bolton) – 1 Red for serious foul play (First of 4 matches)
  • Jonas Gutierrez (Newcastle) – 1 Red for 2 bookings (1 match)

Suspension Tightrope – Four Bookings

  • Gabby Agbonlahor (Aston Villa)
  • Stiliyan Petrov (Aston Villa)
  • Frank Lampard (Chelsea)
  • Brede Hangeland (Fulham)
  • Steve Sidwell (Fulham)
  • Gareth Barry (Man City)
  • Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle)
  • Ryan Shawcross (Stoke)
  • Glenn Whelan (Stoke)
  • Lee Cattermole (Sunderland)
  • Karl Henry (Wolves)
  • Richard Stearman (Wolves)

Correct. Every new card adds one onto the number, so, for instance, if Wheater were to get a third red card of the season consisting of two yellows "next time" he'll serve a 3 game ban (1 standard +2).

Cheikh Tiote eat your heart out.

I find it hard to believe he's being saved for the CC. Seeings as they have City after the Newcastle game and he is on a suspension tightrope, could he be rested for the Newcastle game... so much to ponder.

Aaron Rodgers is UNREAL. I saw a debate on ESPN the other day about how he has all the qualities of every single top quarterback in history...which means he may possibly be the greatest QB in the universe EVER. I really don't contend with that assumption, watching him play is ridiculous, he finds his WR through the tightest holes in the D line...

Aaron Rodgers is amazing. Saw an analysis on ESPN comparing him to qualities found in other great QB in history...which means he is a combination of all of them, which means he is the greatest QB in the universe EVER. Watching him play, I don't contend this assumption at all. He is incredible.

Vorm/Ruddy (although I'm playing Vorm every gameweek, can't question the Dutchman's talent)

            Wilk, JEnrique, Naylor (Barnett, Simpson)

I'm not worried about my defense, as they've been solid for me. Yeah, they're not scoring goals, but at least half get clean sheets and assists week in week out hehe

    RMT

    Vorm/Westwood

    Raylor, BAE, Jones, Brown, Woodgate

    Tiote, Sinclair, Allen, VdV, Silva

    Aguero, RvP, Hernandez

0 in bank but 2 frees

plan right now is just to use 1 for Woodgate - McAuley, looking at maybe swpping Westy for Cerny as my other free, should I bother or just save it till next week (when I plan on getting Ben Arfa in, by swapping Brown to Turner or Simpson)

The David Wheater red was ridiculous, and the comments by Lawrenson earlier about it being acceptable that any contact at all in the box should rightly result in a pen are too. Do they want the game to be a non contact sport? Because that's where it's heading.

So happy i didn't trade sturridge for Bendtner.
My Nani->Lampard trade was a waste of time though, i had a feeling that potential 5th yellow may play a part.
All in all another rubbish gameweek, 27 points with Silva,Kompany, Vorm and N.Dyer to play 🙁

I am confused by this yellow situation. I was certain he'd play today and pick up a yellow to miss the CC game. All signs point to him being dropped.

Yes that was my thoughts mate, i was praying he didn't get a yellow vs Liverpool so he could play against Wolves.
You'd think he would have "accidentally" got a yellow in the Liverpool game to miss the easier Wolves game though.
Then it's only the Carling Cup?
With Newcastle then City to come my concern is will he purposely miss the Newcastle game?after a yellow in the CC?

stop being so smug, i chose bendtner and at 4:45 last sunday i was pretty content...

Try 24 with Silva Kompany Sinclair and NTaylor to play... much and such the same i suppose!

here's one from a band i love called blanche:

          "When you're sadder than sad
That's when hope drives you mad

          Like a slot machine
          Hope lets you win
But just enough to keep you coming back again
It don't take money hopes crueller than that
It grabs your spirit and gives nothing back

          When nothing feels true
          Hope preys on you

          Hope sets you up
          Then leads you on
Just so it can push you further down

Hope paves the way to disappointment and pain
Follow it down it'll drive you insane
But please don't fall for hope's friendly disguise
Tear of its mask and we see only lies

          Hopefully ill never hope again"

Exactly the same for me.. Missed the early season hall brought him in at around 12.5 and did absolutely nothing. Bit the bullet and got Ade in last GW and don't regret it. Altho Rooney finally got an assist Ade's two goals and assist went down nicely. But with rooney looking back in the mix with an assist and his lower value i'm not sure now whether its worth it

Do you think Bendtner will get a retrospective assist? Its a slim chance, but he did force the keeper into an error and eventually it was booted in by Larsson off the keeper...

Anyway... I guess if he does its consolation for the lousy last couple of GWs from him...

In anycase I think I'm gonna ship him out for Demba Ba

Would bringing in Timmy Cahill be a bad move - considering he's got a double game week coming up? Need to transfer tonight and don't wanna bring Royston in because of his injury.

Cheers. Just don't know who else to bring in. Maybe i'll just let DVD fall in value and take the £ hit.

Yeah, just don't like his fixtures. Cheers, my tactic is to get bide my time building up value then concentrate on steaming up the leagues with a HUGE team. Worked nicely last year 🙂

I like it.. I like it a lot.. Possibly Sturridge-Ba?? Expensive defence as well but no where else is lacking so it doesn't seem to matter.

Would you downgrade to Shawcross instead or go even further to a 4.0?

not unless you have a desperate need for funds, if you have .1 go Ba for Studge.

My team value is at 106 too, highest its ever been....I'm sure it'll be back up by next week when VDV starts scoring big again. I dunno about Rooney though....

With Rooney, you can be confident that he will come good. Great run of fixtures, all he needs is a pen. Should come pretty soon after today!

I expect a lot of you have already bought it but for anyone considering FM2012 it seems quite cheap on Amazon at the moment

I wouldn't bother. I've played them religiously over the years but i just can't seem to get into this one, maybe i've finally outgrown it, who knows. Steam is a pile of shit aswell and you have to use it for this game.

        Yeah Steam puts me off.

I always consider them every year and usually buy and quit around 2 weeks later.

The price is sucking me in.

Steam is a great download delivery service, we use it for our games despite the initial negativity. Give it a few years and every game with be download only.

Will probably be a bit more than a few years but yeah eventually it will get like that.

Cloud is the next big thing. You can already stream games from a cloud based service. Seems like a good way of bypassing the age old problem with P.Cs about constant hardware upgrades.

Not being able to catch up with several bandwagons has done me a favour this GW, my first XI all played and provided Enrique doesn't outscore Dyer by 6 points I should be through in the cup.

    :smug: 😉
