Monday’s final Euro 2016 tie sees Fifa’s second highest ranked side Belgium square up to 2012 Euros finalist Italy.

Both sides come into the match in confident mood having topped their qualifying groups and ending their pre-tournament friendly preparations unbeaten. While Belgium defeated Norway 3-2 and drew 1-1 with Finland, Italy recorded wins against Scotland and Finland.

Marc Wilmots’ team are set to rely heavily on Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who created more chances than any other player during qualification. Along with Chelsea’s Eden Hazard he was also the Red Devils’ top scorer in qualifying with five goals.

Antonio Conte’s Italy were one of only four sides, alongside England, Austria and Romania, to be undefeated in qualifying. They did this despite not having a regular goal scorer, with Southampton striker Graziano Pelle the Azzuri’s top scorer in qualifying with just three goals.

    There's a good chance that by the time we play Italy they could be coasting on 6pts and possibly have one eye on the round of 16 or even resting players.

      Hmm. At the start of the week I'd have said gamble and switch for sure. Judging by the performances of most attackers so far, 10 points from a captain is looking an alright score after all.

      Maybe stick on a Portugal defender if you're serious about changing? I have Januz but I'm captaining Rui Patricio...

      Hits are often wise in FPL, but I don't see much value of them in such a short-term setup as Euro Fantasy.

      So much trickier to make back.

      -4 across the tournament would be my absolute max, but I wouldn't even be comfortable with that.

      And that's coming from someone who regularly spends 4 to 8 points weekly in FPL, to my advantage.

        Well... You are right, no hits is best. However, I set my team up with a wildcard before MD3 in mind but I can see the value in keeping it back till the QFs. If I find I can hold off wildcarding before MD3 by taking one hit, perhaps even 2, I might do that.

      Your strikers all have potential on MD2. I wouldn't be concerned about them. I fancy Croatia in their next game too. I'd be more concerned about your defenders, since that's where all the points are coming from. I'd make sure Spain and France are well represented in your defence for the next round and then save the WC for GW3, when we'll see significant rotation from the stronger teams who have already qualified.

    ** would even risk going w/ the Duo Lukaka & Benteke upfront and bench Mertens

      I think it's less about selection and more about strategy. I liked Gianluca Vialli's comments on television before. Italy played as a disciplined unit. Belgium played narrow with attackers cutting in to the best drilled tight back three in the competition. It seemed daft as a tactic! They needed to use width and then take advantage of their aerial strength with Lukaku and Benteke as options to receive crosses. I'd be tempted to go 4-4-2 with Hazard in the center, KdB out wide, and Dembele dropping back a bit. Team harmony doesn't seem great either, whereas Italy seem to be a well-oiled machine right now. The celebrations after the second Italy goal were great! Buffon does a lot for team spirit, I think.

        KDB out wide and Hazard has never worked before and it will never work in the future. No idea why someone would play 2 quality players out of position if you can just play both of them in their best position

      Doesn't matter if you've got class players when they don't play as a team and fight for each other.Is there a split in the camp between the Flemish and Walloons or unhappiness that Hazard is captain? Would never strike me as being captain material.

        No there isn't, most of the players also speak both languages so no problem at all there. Hazard indeed is not captain material as I agree. I'd go for Vertonghen personally. Leader figure on the pitch, not sure how he is off the pitch. Kompany really is a huge loss for us in terms of leadership.

          Played the last 15 minutes or something 😀 Meunier close to being fully fit. Indeed agree on Lukaku and Benteke. Although I have to say that Lukaku is the most quality striker, but the system is just not working for him. With Hazard, DeBruyne (less then Hazard and Lukaku since Aguero is there as well) and Lukaku all being the focal point of attack in their teams, it's hard for them to adjust to the fact that they can't all be the main guy for Belgium. KDB in the hole and let him run the game is what I would do.

    Alaba has approximately a goal every 4 matches for Austria. Surely has to be the best captain if your captain blanked and you don't have Ronaldo right? I am not too confident in Dragovic. He doesn't scores goals at all.

      Try thinking of it this way: do you think an Alaba goal is more likely than a Dragovic clean sheet? If so, captain Alaba. If not, captain Dragovic.

      I've got Junuzovic and Rui and I'm captaining Rui for the same reasons.

    Lloris(2), Matuidi(2), Muller(2) >> Rui Patricio, Dragovic, Alaba seems like a no brainer - yes? Just need one CS or a goal/assist to break even. Assuming all will start?

    Not so sure on twisting from C Juanfran 6x2, might be a bit bold at this stage having gone from Giroud(5) to Shakiri (6) to Muller (2) to JF...Would have to be Dragovic or Alaba...

    "the game will try to substitute the inactive player for one of your replacements. This is done by replacing them with your highest priority substitute who who did play and doesn't break the formation rules"

    So if I sub in a player and he doesn't play will I get the points back for the player I subbed out initially? Or does it only Auto Sub in players who haven't played yet?

      It only auto-subs if you don't make any manual substitutions yourself.

    Alaba or Rui Patricio for captain tomorrow. I know Alaba plays outfield but I could really do with the points and I think Portugal will keep a clean sheet against Iceland, but Alaba could do serious damage against Hungary, thoughts?
