The second round of group matches conclude with Saturday’s fixtures, as DraftKings managers look to construct eight-man squads from the remaining six nations.

Over in Group E, Belgium are left scrapping for survival following their abject display in the defeat to Italy. They must now find a way past the Republic of Ireland who head into that encounter having earned a point in their opener against Sweden.

Belgium must surely seek a victory, which should lead to a more open affair, drawing the sting from the attacking talent on show. Belgium’s teamsheet looks difficult to predict, however, with DraftKings managers having to shop late should they look to Belgium for goals.

There are two matches in Group F with Austria facing an identical scenario to the Belgians. They suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of Hungary and now head into an enthralling clash with Portugal. Fernando Santos’ men were held by Iceland, with Cristiano Ronaldo contained; they cannot afford to be similarly subdued against the Austrians.

Iceland take their point earned against Portugal into their meeting with Hungary in what looks set to be a cagey affair. The Hungarians can seal passage to the knock-outs with a victory, although Iceland’s disciplined rearguard is likely to be in evidence once again.

We’ve studied the likely narrative of the three fixtures and sifted the assets on offer to provide our DraftKings picks to help steer your selections ahead of Saturday’s contests.

Vierinha – Portugal, – $4400
Deployed as a winger in his Porto days, he’s now recognised as a talented right-back for Wolfsburg and his country. Vierinha came through Portugal’s disappointing performance against Iceland with some credit, raiding down the flank to provide 12 crosses, 10 of which came from open play. Along with Raphael Guerreiro on the left, we expect his service from the flanks to be a factor again in the crunch meeting with Austria.

Nani – Portugal, $9300
While Ronaldo registered ten efforts on goal against Iceland, nine were from outside the box, leaving it to Nani to provide the most potent threat. He notched Portugal’s goal and all five of his goal attempts arrived from inside the penalty area, with three hitting the target. With four crosses supplied, Nani enjoyed a profitable evening and will head into the clash with Austria looking to emerge from Ronaldo’s shadow once more.

David Alaba – Austria – $7500
The Bayern Munich man did his upmost to drag Austria through their defeat to Hungary. He fired in six efforts on goal in the 2-0 defeat – no other midfielder registered more goal attempts in the first round of matches. That continued the trend seen in qualifying when Alaba, deployed as a box-to-box midfielder, provided more goal attempts per minute than any team-mate, whilst also ranking second for crosses. Alaba will surely be a key figure as Austria seek to salvage their Euro 2016 campaign.

Attila Fiola – Hungary, – $4000
Iceland mustered just four efforts on goal against Portugal and, while they could show more ambition against the Hungarian’s, investment in the Magyar back-line looks viable. Fiola just edges out fellow full-back Tamas Kadar in our reckoning as he demonstrated more intent to get forward from right-back, both in the win over Austria and in the warm-up matches heading into the tournament. Fiola also tends to win more tackles and played as a striker in his youth, so could even deliver an unlikely goal.

Robbie Brady – Republic of Ireland, – $5000
A mainstay of our Premier League DraftKings line-ups, Brady continues to translate his impressive points output to the international stage. The Norwich City man contributed ten crossed balls in the 1-1 stalemate with Sweden, continuing a trend that saw him supply 93 crosses in qualifying – ranking third for midfielders overall. Classified as defender in DraftKings, his supply line looks pivotal to the Republic of Ireland’s chances against Belgium, with set-pieces likely to play their part.

DraftKings contests for Saturday’s matches are now available, including a $3 entry “Striker” with a $10k prize pot.

DraftKings is available only to those aged 18 or over. Be sure to take note of their Terms and Conditions here.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Why are ppl more obsessed about price rise rather than potential points instead? No point getting a player then watch him being benched/rested for 1 or 0 pts, no?

    morning folks...

not fully clued up on the euro fantasy rules/strategy but teams seem to be doing okkish..currently on 124 points.

currently have 2FT for this round which i was planning to use but see a lot of people using their for round 3...whats the thinking?

    sommer patricio
    dier rami howedes 1fran delaney
    ozil perisic payet kdb mak
    nolito muller giroud

i was planning to use my 2FT to remove delaney and perisic..

    1. GreennRed
      • 14 Years

Good score. You can only use the 2 FT for round 3 and do them tonight. Why lose Perisic? Maybe Muller and Giroud to Bale and Sturridge?

QF. Especially now you have 2 FT and very few of your 15 will be rested in round 3 as they're not qualified just yet.

Belgian media predicts four changes in the lineup:

            - Ciman, Fellaini, De Bruyne and Lukaku out
            - Meunier, Mertens, Carrasco and Benteke/Batshuayi in

Seems a lot of unrest too in that camp with players/Wilmotts. Irish media fo using heavy on that fact as a possible route to something from that game especially now with the Italians playing the 'b team'

Belgian media predicts four changes in the lineup against Ireland:

    - Ciman, Fellaini, De Bruyne and Lukaku out
    - Meunier, Mertens, Carrasco and Benteke/Batshuayi in

it's just rumors. Croatian media had Vrsaljko starting over Strinić for 2 days but it still didn't happen.
Some other belgian newspaper has this as predicted lineup to cheer you up:
Courtois, Meunier, Alderweireld, Vermaelen, Vertonghen, Witsel, Nainggolan, Mertens, De Bruyne, Hazard, Lukaku.

i'm quite disappointed with my score of 115 after seeing some of the scores floating around only have rui left to play. which league are people referring to when quoting their place if its the global league im at 13,302 and i blame dragovic (c) was going to wildcard but not too sure now due to rotation risk but need to get rid of some of kane giroud muller might keep muller though one last chance against ni then swap for morata after group stage

Do I sub in Alaba (POR) for Giroud (2). I'm not sure if he will beat 2 points because Portugal could score a lot of goals against Austira.

I also have Rui Patricio and Raphael Guerriero playing today, thoughts?

Of course! At worst he'll get one point, but could easily score or assist. Also on pens and with Junuzovic out he's now on all other set pieces too.

I'm not too worried about rotation for neither France nor Spain this next round tbh. They both play the second placed team in their groups with a 2 point lead, meaning that a loss will respectively propel Switzerland and Croatia into a group win. The second placed team in group D will highly likely face Italy in round of 16, so I expect Spain to try and win this one. As for France, they risk facing Germany instead of a third placed team if they lose to Switzerland in round three.

Who are some players we are expecting to raise in value?

    Payet
    Perisic
    Bale
    Modric
    Milik
    Hamsik
    Iniesta
    Silva
    Srna
    Kroos

Any I'm missing? Any I got wrong?

        And Morat for sure.

Also, you've only mentioned attacking players, but the big points have been scored in defence:
        Bonucci
        Giaccherini
        Alba
        Pique
        Rami
        Schar
        Mustafi

In general, all Italy-, Spain-, Germany-, and Poland-defenders likely in for a rise imo.

            Player Prices
Player prices will change after the group stage depending on performance during the tournament.

I may have read more into it than I should have. That probably just means fantasy points.

Yes. But, three CS increase price by how much ? Three blanks decrease price by how much ? How can we play the game without having an idea... Someone send an email ?

    3. RMA
      • 9 Years

Don't forget that prices were set to reflect recent performances to start with.

I doubt already expensive players who scored will go up - because that was the expectation given their price tags, same with cheap players who blanked.

    Bee in my bonnet.
Went into a well known high street bookie this morning to place some euro footie bets and some royal Ascot bets. No problem with footie ones but then tried to place a £10 treble on:-
    Exosphere 3.40 ascot 5/2
    Twilight Son 4.20 Ascot 9/2
    Central Square 3.30 Ayr eV
Total liability of this bet £385.00
I was told that as there was a price alert on the first 2 the bet was restricted to a £2 stake.
If a major bookmaker can't withstand a liability of £385.00 what chance does the punter have?
    What a ridiculous situation.

Thanks for that. Managed to get it on with one of my online accounts at roughly the same odds. The first 2 are getting backed off the boards and their prices are shortening all over.
It comes to something when at 8.30am you can't get a tenner on with the high street boys.
