We continue our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, with a look at Southampton.

To get underway, we assess the Saints’ team statistics in Ronald Koeman’s final year in charge and compare them to the rest of Premier League, before analysing their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the upcoming campaign.

The Saints finished in sixth position after embarking on a superb run of form that harvested seven wins and a draw in the final nine league fixtures.

    Just how many pts do we expect from this class of player? Is it a waste of a valuable attacking slot? Difficult to remove, too.

      Townsend has been pretty good in our friendlies so far in the US, with a nice assist liking up well in the last game. Most of seem to feel it will be Zaha/Townsend on the wings and going to play Yala (Bolasie) behind our striker. Im not a fan of the latter but in fairness he did pretty well in some of the games there (like in his goal against Arsenal) - think this is what Pards will choose given no injuries.

    Ayew - possible OOP, no football over the summer, likes a shot

    Siggy - set pieces, possibly pens, has been FPL gold, but played in the Euros

            Morgan had virtually no pre season last year and started GW1, Sanchez got back about a week before and came on as sub.
            That's even if Swansea gives 4 weeks holiday like Arsenal.

    Anyone else looking to rotate a SOT defender for their home games in GW1, 3 and 5? (WAT, SUN and SWA).

    Thinking of rotating VvD. Been told its a bold strategy but I can see it paying off to invest in those games.
