We can’t quite call it a comeback but it’s progress.

Jonty’s radical solution to help solve his nosediving season was to throw off the shackles of his traditional dullard ways and start taking transfer hits.

It’s working, a 74-point Gameweek is enough to get him back and track and edging towards unlikely respectability. Like a Phoenix, dusting himself down and now pondering a rise from the ashes.

Personally, I’m not sure what’s more puzzling, Jonty’s struggles this season or Andy’s determination to cling to Zlatan Ibrahimovic like some muscular, ponytailed comfort blanket. At least Granville was wise enough to get rid after the Swede failed him yet again.

In this latest ScoutCast, we tackle Jonty’s reversal of fortune and Andy and Granville’s Zlatan woes, before embarking on another round of questions from you, the community.

The Gundoganwagon, Valencia replacements and looming doubts over the Arsenal teamsheet dominate the chatter.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

    Heaton
    Holebas - Lovren - Smith
    Firmino - Couthino - Sanchez - Allen
    Benteke - Kun(C) - Ibra

Robinson - Evans - Carrick (will probably play this week) - Amat

    a> Ibra -> Costa
    b> Benteke -> Austin
c> Save the ft and have 2ft over international?

    Apologies, bottomed.

    Foster - Pickford
    Valencia(!) - Smith - Pieters - Holebas - Amat(!)
    Sanchez - Mane - Walcott(!) - Capoue - Snodgrass(!)
    Aguero - Costa - Benteke

So obviously my team is in a bit of trouble. Only one free transfer.

But first things first should be Valencia out, yes? Have 5.5m to spend on any defender. Thoughts?

      Snodgrass is more important

Maybe, but I don't feel like there are any decent options atm without downgrading somewhere else in my team.

You gonna play Capoue or go with a back 4 then? Think I'd rather have Allen/Gundogun/Redmond than either of those options...

Yes, but do you think it's worth a hit? I'd be surprised if Allen/Gundogan outscored Capoue by 4 points.

In that case, I'd only be able to do Snodgrass to Allen.

    GTG?
Question mark about whether to start Walker or Holebas.

    Heaton.
    Stones, Lovren, Walker.
    Sanchez, Coutinho, Lallana, Sterling.
    Lukaku, Deeney, Aguero (c).
    Pickford, Holebas, Whelen, Amat.

    0ft, 0.0m in bank.

      GTG.
I'd go for Holebas as he offers set pieces and attacking threat. Last time Spurs didn't concede vs Arsenal was in 2009...
Deeney -> Austin could be tempting for a hit...

allen. gundogan won't be able to keep up points consistently. better team but most likely considerably worse position. city's points will mainly be shared between aguero, kdb, and other really attacking players like nolito, sane, sterling, silva. As long as Allen plays number 10, he'll get points here and there

        1. Still Unsure
            9 years, 1 month ago

Not sure there's any evidence of your first statement.
It basically comes down to involvement. One will be in a team that scores more but points are likely to be spread, the other more involved in less goals.
My gut is saying Gundogun at the moment.

        Hughes on Shaqiri:
"He hasn't trained all week because of a bit of damage to the hamstring. At this moment in time it appears that he will struggle to be available. There may be a slight opportunity, but he needs to train today and we need to see if he comes through that. If he does then he has a chance. It is a slight strain, which he has had before, and has been able to play with before. The difference this time is that he did it on the Saturday, whereas this time he did it on the Monday, so he has had a day or two less to recover."

      5. Arteta
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 1 month ago

        Hughes on Geoff Cameron:
"Geoff's knee has improved, but as with these injuries, when you open up your knee joint, they heal quickly but that last five percent can drag on for a while. The liklihood is that he won't be involved and he won't travel to join up with his country next week neither."

Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone is back in full training after tearing elbow ligaments in August.

Think sometimes Capoue also takes corners. FKs most likely Holebas.

        Hughes on other injuries:
"Jack Butland is still missing but is recovering. Glen Johnson is still out although he is progressing. He is a couple of weeks away, but is moving forward. Ibrahim Afellay is training with the physios with regards to joining the group in a couple of weeks. It will be great to see him back out there. Stephen Ireland is progressing well too. The next few weeks will be good for us as we will hopefully get a few of those back."
