Nothing can be taken for granted this season.

Pep Guardiola’s teamsheet, Sergio Aguero’s ability to fluctuate from a frustrating liability to an essential goal machine and the Liverpool midfield: blessed with brilliance and then cruelly cursed by misfortune.

It was Manchester City who provided the early rise and fall on today’s rollercoaster, first reassuring some with Aguero’s presence on the teamsheet, while disappointing owners of Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones and Ilkay Gundogan.

Then Aguero took over.

Like Harry Kane in Gameweek 12, he transformed the most ordinary team performance into a personal haul that revived his stock and forced an immediate re-assessment of plans.

Strategies were re-written with Aguero’s brace, only to be torn up by the events that were to follow at Anfield.

We had such expectations of Jurgen Klopp’s attacking three against Sunderland but, when the whistle blew on Merseyside, we were left mainly with blanks, and the scars of Roberto Firmino hobbling off and Phillipe Coutinho stretchered from the field.

Following minor concerns for the Brazilian and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard over the international break, this latest setback appears far more significant.

We should perhaps wait on a scan and the full prognosis but, already the reaction to Coutinho’s agony has been marked: he tops the Fantasy Premier League “transfers out” column and will surely continue to shed owners before we know the true extent of the damage.

A possible tragedy in Liverpool’s superb season, for some Fantasy managers, the loss of Coutinho will be a game changer that opens up a new and all too convenient strategy.

Gylfi Sigurdsson’s relentless form that continued today in a dramatic 5-4 Swansea City victory lifts the Icelander to the forefront of our transfer thinking.

Along with Chelsea’s Pedro, he will surely vie to replace a potentially stricken Coutinho and, in doing so, free up funds to investigate Diego Costa, or more likely, the Harry Kane option in attack.

Those previously considering an exit for Aguero, myself included, may now be presented with an alternative route.

The 33% owned Romelu Lukaku could now be sacrificed with funds liberated from Coutinho’s sale providing a means to acquire Kane.

Aguero, thanks to his goals and a cruel twist of fate at Anfield, could now be locked in once again.

The City striker, along with the unfortunate Coutinho, were part of a turbulent day that offered a stark reminder to all of just how quickly fortunes can shift.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Reluctant to double up Saints, so it's either A or B for me.

Monitoring Redmond again today, I think.

Yeah, that's putting me off Redmond also - great value at 6.0m, but Saints don't have anywhere near enough goals to warrant doubling up on.

Mid under 5.5 … Who to pick for 5th mid?

    A: Phillips (5.2)
    B: Zaha (5.4)
    C: Can (4.8)
    D: Ramirez (5.3)
    E: Capoue (5.0)
    F: Allen (5.3)
    G: de Roon (4.3)

I’ve excluded Matic as I need that last Chelsea spot for Costa.
If Can, he will hold the place until Coutinho is back.

Looking at this also. I think you can also add Fer (5.0) to this list. Swansea have great fixtures coming up.

Personally I think it's between Philips, Fer, Allen & Zaha if 4th mid, De Roon if 5th.

I have Siggy, so I excluded Fer out of the options.

It's 5th mid. I'm now leaning to Can if Coutinho is out for a while.

Just 0.5m more than De Roon.

Yeah, they're all decent options except for Ramirez (imo).

For a 5th mid, Can/Fer may actually be worth it - especially over the Xmas period. Both looked pretty nailed and have a decent goal threat for ubers.

Mind taking a look at my options above?

Just answered above that I'm not confident in having both Austin & Redmond. But it's worth to monitor them again today.

Came back last night. Had a few beers.
    Saw the following:
    Coutiho stretchered off.
Firmino injury concern. Kun scoring a brace.
    Fuchs failing again.

    Instant decision:

Kaku Firmino Coutinho/ Kun Siggy Chadli

Lost 1 million in team value.
Chadli can't get in the W brom side.

Yep. Actually, I think I prefer this one given de Roon is pretty weak.

                Cout & Defoe -> Fer/Can & Kane(c)

                GW15: Stones & Sanchez -> Alonso & Hazard(c) (-4)

                6 Dec - bas

This Intl break was always meant to cause damage everywhere..

Couts(c) didn't help and gettinf Fuchs instead of a Chelsea/Soton def was the worst decision I have been taking the whole season.

However, I don't think Costa should have been awarded the assist for the goal, for me its an own goal from Verthongen since Lloris did save the ball.

I'm pretty sure he was involved in every goal, could have had 4 assists on another day... I don't understand it either.

1 he scored, 2 he took the corner and Llorente's effort was cleared off the line for Fer to tap in, 3 he put the long ball in which fell for Fer to tap in, 4 his shot (looked on target but probably would have been cleared off the line) was diverted in by Llorente, 5 can't remember but I think not him.

Who is the better option to come in for Gundog?

    Zaha or Phillips

    1. Toure The Route

      It's close right now
But here , zaha is the popular option.
Only a few seem to prefer Phillips .

Plausibly since Zaha has Benteke and well Phillips has Rondon..

So when do we think Sanchez gets his rest? Given Wenger's comments I'd say there's very little chance he starts all 5 games in 15 days, especially given his game time so far this year for ARS and Chile....

    3 Dec - whu
    6 Dec - bas (CL)
    10 Dec - STO
    13 Dec - eve
    18 Dec - mcy

I think it has to be bas or STO right? If STO, that would be a real kick in the spurs for owners (who would likely captain him that week)...

Hey TM, whats your thoughts on this team?

        Foster

        Walker Holebas McAuley

        Sanchez Hazard Coutinho Snoddy

        Kun Kane Austin

        Sub: Jaku Fletcher Kelly Amat

        1FT, 0.4 ITB.

        Cout to Firm for FT?

Basle probably favourite for a rest, but Wenger will kick himself if PSG slip up and we don't win. Sanchez is particularly strong in away games.

We can probably also cream STO at home with Giroud.

Not saying you are wrong, but I think there's a risk he gets a rest for STO. Probably enough to at least not captain him.

    Hi all. Current team.

    Pickford.
    Walker, Lovren, Cedric.
    Pedro, Coutinho**, Sanches, Siggy.
    Lukaku, Aguero, Austin.
    Heaton, Holebas, Amat, Holebas..

    Cedric- Stones done..
    0ft, 0.9m in account.
If Coutinho is out for a while-- Firmino the best replacement we think for me?

How does this WC team look?
    Pickford Heaton
    Alonso Lovren Holebas Nyom Amat
    Firmino Pedro Sigurdsson 7.3 Fletcher
    Costa Kane Aguero

    Or maybe in mid
    Mane Firmino Sigurdsson Zaha Fletcher?

    Too expensive Frontline?

No, that looks good provided you get a decent 7.3. Could also consider downgrading Alonso to stretch 7.3 to 8.1m Alli/Eriksen. Try and upgrade Amat to a Middlesborough defender. Swansea are hopeless.

Waiting to see how Ozil fares tonight before deciding who of Ozil and Mane will make way for Siggy as a Kane enabler.

So who are the Coutinho replacement candidates ? ignoring Siggy since i already own him
    1. Mata - is he nailed on? Are united going to score enough goals?
    2. Walcott - will surely suffer rotation over the next 5
    3. Alli - seems not fully fit, barely any attempts on goal
    4. Eriksen - extremely inconsistent, not nailed on
    5. Mane - inconsistent, gets points mostly at home. Pool seem to be suffering without Lallana
    6. Pedro - Can't get Pedro cause 3rd spot must go to Costa, also likely to eventually share game time with Willian

    nobody i want really
