Two of the lowest scoring teams clash at the Riverside Stadium to create a predictable outcome, as a single set-piece delivery and far post header decide matters. Here’s the Stock Check from Gameweek 14’s final encounter.

On the Rise

Gaston Ramirez
Always the most likely member of Middlesbrough’s midfield to emerge as a potential Fantasy asset, the Uruguayan was their star performer on the night and proved a worthy matchwinner.

Ramirez has now provided two goals and an assist in his last four starts, although ‘Boro’s continued lack of cutting edge remains a major obstacle.

Aitor Karanka’s men have scored just 13 goals in their 14 Premier League matches and will likely continue to rely on defensive stability to earn them points.

While that’s the case, Ramirez seems destined to provide a short-term differential and little more. To compound matters, he appeared to suffer a knock to his foot which saw him withdrawn in the dying stages.

The Middlesbrough Defence
Far more likely to provide with an asset for the remainder of the season, Karanka’s back five earned a fourth clean sheet of the season this evening, albeit against a largely unambitious and impotent Hull City attack.

With George Friend sidelined, skipper Ben Gibson has proved the most popular target in the ‘Boro backline and he justified that tonight by claiming two bonus points taking him to 53 overall. Surprisingly, that’s just 8 points shy of Kyle Walker, the top-ranked Fantasy Premier League defender.

With Southampton and Liverpool up next, we can perhaps wait to invest in Karanka’s rearguard. However, from Gameweek 17, the fixtures fall nicely.

Should Friend, now priced at just 4.4, be fit and available at that point, he could prove to be a key acquisition.

In Decline

Robert Snodgrass
A third consecutive Gameweek without returns has seen the Scot fade as a fourth midfield option.

So integral to Hull City’s attacking potential via his dead-ball delivery, Snodgrass has been unable to shine as others around him struggle.

With just a single goal in their last three and with Hull’s fixture list stiffening over the festive spell, Snodgrass is being swallowed up by alternative midfield options in and around his price point.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Anything worth taking a hit for here? £2.5 itb

    Karius Jaku
    Walker Brunt Francis Holebas Amat
    Hazard Firmino Arnautovic Sigurdsson Capoue
    Austin Kane Costa

I'd say it would pay back 4 points easily in the long term

Certainly wouldn't for a hit especially when his defence looks well balanced. Walker, Brunt with the Wat/Bou rotation is spot on.

I wouldn't. Only one missing there is Sanchez, but your other players have decent games this weekend as well. Take your extra four points instead of a hit and assess next week

I personally think you need another big hitter in midfield, i.e.e Sanchez.

He's too good to leave out IMO.

    Front 8 currently:
Sanchez Haz Siggy Allen De Roon
    Costa Kane Austin

FT used for getting Costa. Is it worth doing -4 and Shipping Allen out (7.7 mil available for 4th MF)?

    Appreciate any thoughts.

Nah, I coud go with 4-3-3 this week and bench Allen:

        Pick
        Alonso Kosc Holebas Amat
        Sanch Haz Siggy
        Costa Kane Austin

then re-asses situation with Holebas, Kosc and Allen and take a hit next week getting L'pool cover or one of Eriksen/Alli.

    GTG for GW

    Heaton
    Holebas - Cedric - Alonso
    siggy - sanchez - firmino - Hazard
    Kane - Austin - defoe

    Pick - Philips - Gibson - Collins

Okay so now I have Allen playing as the 4th mid.
    Bench - capoue,holebas,pieters.

Shall I take a hit to transfer Allen out to siggy/someone else? Budget 8.9.
Or shall I just play one of the available 4 as I already am on -4.

      have the same dillemma.
Milner is the choice imo (6,7) Has pens. Goal every second match.
Also you can go for ManC player (Gundo) or ManU (Herera) or WHU mid (great fixtures) like Antonio/Lanzini
You can consider Palace mids and Leicester mids.

    Hi All,

    I need an advice.

I have Anichebe as third striker, so looking to buy cheap but playing 5th mid to rotate with Anichebe in GW 16, 18 and 20.
Have 1,1 ITB and after selling Adam (4,7) in GW 16 will have 5,8.

Already 3 CHE players so no Moses aor Matic possible.

    A) Gundo (5,4 - good price to buy) with Watford (H) Hull City (A) Burnley (H) - but I had him and shipped as he has huge gametime risk
    B) Can (4,9) with Middlesbrough (A, Stoke (H) and Sunderland (A) but already have Firmino and Milner
    C) Wanyama (4,8) with Burnley (H), Swansea (A), Man Utd (H) - but is just playing safe and cheap.
    D) Zaha (5,4>>5,5) with Man Utd (H), Watford (A), Swansea (H) - but can't buy him right now, but from ManU game
    E) Albrighton (5,0) with Stoke (A), West Ham (H), Middlesbrough (A) - but Leicester are poor this year and he has some gametime risk
    F) Other

I wanted and WHU mid, but cannot afford Lanzini, Feghouli doesn't play and Koyate is playing as defender.

    Any hints highly appreciated
    Cheers

Get you on Iheanacho but he came in (a) because I need at least some City attack cover and (b) because I needed to shuffle midfield to finally get Hazard in.
I guess I figure 4 weeks is a long time in FF and someone will get injured or festive fatigued....
