The FA have this evening confirmed Luis Suarez has been found guilty of racial misconduct towards Patrice Evra and have handed the Liverpool forward an eight-match ban and a fine of £40,000, pending appeal.

The Independent Regulatory Commission announced the decision as follows:
1. Mr Suarez used insulting words towards Mr Evra during the match contrary to FA Rule E3(1);
2. the insulting words used by Mr Suarez included a reference to Mr Evra’s colour within the meaning of Rule E3(2);
3. Mr Suarez shall be warned as to his future conduct, be suspended for eight matches covering all first team competitive matches and fined the sum of £40,000;
4. the [penalty] is suspended pending the outcome of any appeal lodged by Mr Suarez against this decision.

The fourth point here is crucial- the Merseyside club have 14 days in which to contest the decision, which means that Suarez is available for selection over the next fortnight. The length of time until appeal takes in four Premier League games- (wig, BLA, NEW, mcy) – and with Kenny Dalglish’s side struggling for goals right now, there’s every chance that, for as long as the club feel he is in the right frame of mind, Suarez will take part in these games.

Liverpool have since released a strongly worded statement this evening and it’s pretty obvious, upon reading, that not only are they firmly behind their player, they will also be appealing this decision. The following excerpt sums up their thoughts:

It seems incredible to us that a player of mixed heritage should be accused and found guilty in the way he has based on the evidence presented. We do not recognise the way in which Luis Suarez has been characterised. Nothing we have heard in the course of the hearing has changed our view that Luis Suarez is innocent of the charges brought against him and we will provide Luis with whatever support he now needs to clear his name.

With the suspension on hold until after the outcome of any appeal, then, it’s impossible to speculate what games Suarez could potentially miss. Given that the FA have taken two months to reach this decision, it’s fair to say the likely appeal won’t be rapidly resolved.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I think so, he's not been looking too bad (Whitbread). He came out to the media the other week to state his intentions of staying in the team, so he won't die trying. Tierney and Rusty Martin are the best routes into the Norwich defence. I've got the former myself

Hey lads, contemplating these trades leading up to the DGW:

GW 18: Adebayor -> Sturridge, Barnett -> Evans, Jagielka -> Jones (4 pt hit)

GW 20: VDV -> Bale, Walters -> Drenthe, Ba -> Adebayor (4 pt hit)

Leaving my team for the DGW as:

    Vorm - Ruddy

    Jones - Enrique - Simpson - Evans - Naylor

    Drenthe - Bale - Nani - Silva - Dyer

    RVP Ade Sturridge

I know the 4 point hits aren't so good, but what do you guys reckon?

For me this Fantasy Cup where you win very little means nothing to me. Would I want to win it? Of course. Would it stop me taking a 4 point hit in any given GW where I thought it was of benefit to my team? No chance. For me overall ranking comes even before everything, even mini-leagues.

I actually make a point of not checking my opponenets team before the start of any given round.

    Morison:

It is a real shame that the current setup of FPL, (i.e. Needing all three slots for big name strikers and a distinct lack of high price, high quality midfield options) is negating the need for Steve Morison. There is so little talk about him on here, yet he is incredible value, playing extremely well, nailed on (unlike the large majority of the Norwich side) and had decent upcoming fixtures.

I know this may well be a null point as he wont be making many of our sides including mine (how can I ship Rooney, RVP or Sturridge?) but I wanted to recognise how outstanding he has been and continues to look going forwards IF anyone needs to have a cheap/solid forward option.

Totally agree with what you're saying. I face a similar problem. With RVP, Ade and Ba, I'd do anything for one more spot for Morison or Sturridge. He's playing absolutely brilliant at the moment, but this season is shaping up as one where all of your strikers need to fire, simply because a lot of them are on form. Pity, it'll be nice to have a 2nd Norwich player on my team!

I have the same frontline Anti-Ipswich and it's difficult to see past it.

In fairness though, it would be Sturridge if I had a 4th slot.

I'd need a 5th slot to consider the likes of Morison, Yakubu and Fletcher.

I only agree with you and Stefan Kuntz to some extent. I think the game is fine the way it is. This year we see a lot of good value options for strikers but not midfielders which is why you're wanting an extra striker slot. What if next year the situation reverses? 4 midfielders will now be not sufficient, wont it?

Morrison is really good in terms of points/value. He's an excellent differential for someone who's playing catch-up. At a dirt cheap price of 5.0, a manager can free up fund and invest/gamble in defense or midfield.

I'm not saying they should accommodate another striker spot, sorry if it sounds like I am. I mean, teams don't play with 4 strikers in a starting XI. They should keep the system (changing it is stupid), but it's a part of the challenge of FPL

          Mr KK,

I think you missed the point, in no way was I asking for an additional striker slot. I was merely commenting that in previous seasons a sub 5.5 striker has been a must accross your front free. This enabled you to get the big hitting and big scoring midfielders in i.e. Gerrard, Lamps, Ronaldo etc.

I was purely saying that in seasons gone past Morison would have been gold dust to us fantasy managers and he is being over looked at the moment. So was purely raising a point for the masses, especially with squad restructuring going on soon with the WC on the horizon.

P.S. there are 5 midfield slots.

          Thanks, SK

posted yesterday but thought worth sharing again..

regarding the deadlines, just noticed gwk23 we’ll know the teams for

    swans chelsea
    spurs wigan
    wolves liverpool
    bolton arsenal
    utd stoke

before the deadline. could be worth saving wildcard to activate after gwk23 and save 2 freebies to bring in some one week punts when you know the teams, lampard pavlyuchenko defoe welbeck valencia etc are all worth considering for that one week

Why would you punt on Lampard, away at a Swansea team who have let only 2 goals in at home all season? I can't work that one out at all.

Don't ask me why I had him in the first place (please) but I got itchy trigger finger and swapped out Robinson for Sorenson. At 4.3 seems to represent great value considering I missed the Vorm and Krul bandwagons (and yes I know that I have had a shocker).

Would people agree that was a good shout?! Freed up an all important 0.5 to replace O'Hara, which I feel hard done to about as well!! Any ideas on a good replacement in the 6.2 or less range, I was thinking Sess?

    Thanks, SK

Glad I seem along the right lines with the TS transfer. Surely VILLA, WIGAN, blackburn in his next three could get some returns before the WC?!

      Keyzer,

Not sure on those transfers tbh, agreed Walters (have had him in my team most of the season) and Morison are great options. Bit worried about Tiote (off to ACON) and Surman (1 poor game away from being benched for 3-4) - How much do you have to spend? Could you afford Moses instead? I know he gets some stick, but he is nailed on and plays in a very attacking role. I think at 4.7 he will end up as one of the best value players on the game by the end of the season

hi keyzer. im thinking about walters too as villa are dodgy at set pieces at the moment and a trip to britannia is the last place they want to go. then followed by wigan at home i think walters will score big too. he only needs a penalty and normally gets 11pts inc baps.

Baines price drop on Monday and Bale’s price drop last night has put a right old kybosh on my transfer strategy leading up to the DGW. Baines > Verm still remains my priority for gw18, but the opportunity to do Bale > VDV has gone now. Alternative strategies I am considering the following:

    1)
    GW18 Baines > Verm
    GW19 Carry over
    GW20 Walters > Drenthe & Bale > VDV

    2)
    GW18 Baines > Verm
    GW19 Krul > Friedel
    GW20 Verm > Baines

    3)
    GW18 Baines > Verm
    GW19 Krul > Friedel
    GW20 Walters > Drenthe

Ignoring past GW20 (wildcard), which is better leading up to the DGW?

That is an option I suppose, but it would have to be at the expense of Walters. The alternative is to do Nani > VDV for the DGW and then switch back with my wildcard. Baines > Verm was the plan up to gw20 though as Arris have got great fixtures coming up.

He is in my team, frustrating as seems to produce nothing offensively despite getting in great positions and being a decent player. But at 5.0m should grab a couple of clean sheets and has the DGW. Amount of clean sheets as always will depend on how often Ledley plays, but with Spurs possession football style they will always pick up clean sheets, especially at home (ala Swansea, curse you Vorm).

      Thanks, SK
