Cursed with a reputation of failing to deliver to form and fixture, while some have tried to dispel the myth, Romelu Lukaku chose today to slay it once and for all.

The stage was dressed and set for the Belgian.

With the fixture list driving his recruitment, there was a degree of forced faith in Lukaku.

Two blanks on the road had created an air of caution, but Everton’s home form was strong enough to offer real hope.

Bournemouth, as today’s visitors, were offering the biggest reason for optimism. Incredibly, Eddie Howe’s side arrived at Goodison Park having shipped 20 goals in their last ten outings, conceding three in six of those matches.

The script was meticulously scribed and, for once, Lukaku read and stuck to it perfectly.

It took him just 30 seconds to expose the Cherries frailties, ominously curling home a confident opener to tease the destruction that was to follow.

Bournemouth’s second half rally merely drew the sting from Everton, with Lukaku ending the match in riotous form.

Acquired by over 75,000 prior to today’s deadline, Lukaku boasted an ownership of 1.1 million FPL managers.

However, only 22% of those owners chose to back him with the captaincy, perhaps distracted by the lure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Harry Kane, having previously been stung by the Everton striker.

However, announcing himself this season with a hat-trick on Wearside, Lukaku chose Bournemouth as his next major victims and bullied them with a similar display of pace, power and finishing.

His 21-points ranks second only to Alexis Sanchez’ fabled London Stadium haul – Lukaku’s return today is the top individual score by any FPL forward.

With the fixtures remaining kind and with Gameweeks 26 and 28 booked in, his ownership and price will likely rocket.

However, while we can lavish praise his way this evening, we should not forget the frustration he can cause.

Stalling badly from Gameweek 11, Lukaku appeared stuck in a rut and unable to drag Everton from their Autumnal malaise.

But something clicked thereafter – perhaps the new arrivals on Merseyside, perhaps Ronald Koeman’s new formation – but the smile returned, and the energy and hunger came with it.

Incredibly, he now leads the Golden Boot race. Involved in 51% of Everton’s goals, boasting an almost identical points per match tally as both Diego Costa and Ibrahimovic and second only to Jermain Defoe for points per million value, the case for Lukaku is compelling.

Was there ever any doubts? Of course, but at least for tonight, we will conveniently forget the past.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I do like Pieters fixtures against Palace next GW and then Borough GW 27 but if exact cash b4 price rise then do it. Giroud minutes an issue as you already know and Alonso is FPL gold.

In 10 years of playing this game this evening seems a very significant weekend. Almost biblical. Costa, Kane, Defoe & Lukaku have laid their cards & there's a royal flush amongst the group! Ibra & God have yet to show their hand & Jesus may trump you all. Is this our last supper & the weekend in which we form our beliefs moving forward! I have put my faith & armband in God but this is the weekend in which all faith crumbles! Not yet though. Agueroooo!

    My team is:
    Heaton Pickford
    Alonso Coleman Brunt Jones Pieters
Sanchez Eriksen Alli Pogba de Roon
    Ibra Lukaku Rondon

    2FT 0.2 ITB

I have 4 players who blank in 26
And only 4 players who are guaranteed to start 28

Feels wrong to get rid of Pogba or Ibra before Watford, or Sanchez before Hull

I plan on doing Pogba -> siggy and de Roon to a 5.5 mid who plays fwk 28 next week

    what should I do?

    Heaton/Pickford
    Alonso/Baines/Brunt/Pieters/Amat
    Sanchez/Alli/Mirallas/Phillips/Zaha
    Ibra/Kane/Lukaku

Can't manage to make up my mind on transfers , i'll lose value on both Sanchez and Ibra tonight
    Bought Sanchez (11.9) , Ibra (11.3)

The mid looks too weak , Mirallas was supposed to be a good punt but failed but 'll probably keep due to the blanks..

    So what to do ?

    1)Sanchez>Siggy/Haz
    2)Ibra>Costa / Jesus / Carroll

Transfer movements this season have often been bizarre but the continuing sales of Zlatan and Alexis seem even more bewildering.

Aren't they the best 2 captaincy options next week? They look that way to me. Possibly a City player as well but then you take a risk on selection.

I can understand someone removing one of those two in GW26. Even both. But for next week? Nah.

Thanks TM. How I wish thatt I had bought Heaton back in the day when I made that choice. The Boruc option has not worked out well

Do you think he'll get back in? I expect it's Mannone's to lose now.

First time here since captaining the wrong player. What to do with this team? Henn to Jak or get rid of Stan?

    Grant
    Alonso Brunt Baines Nyom
    Eriksen Sanchez Alli
    Ibra Lukaku Kane

Thanks. Maybe I'll stick deRoon in there for Nyom if I don't take Stan out. deRoon missed a sitter today.

Repost due to post fail above!

Is Ibra to Lukaku too kneejerky? Lukaku rising tonight and Ibra dropping which would lose me £0.1m SV. Full team:

    Grant Pickford*
    Alonso Walker McAuley Coleman Amat
    Sanchez Alli Lallana Phillips Stanislas
    Ibra Kane Anichebe*

    2FT, £2m in the bank

I'd hold Ibra personally, Man U fixtures are sweet and they have Watford next. Lukaku won't get 4 next match, bring him in the following week for one of your other strikers maybe ?

I'm tending towards this... Was thinking if I can roll an FT to next week, I can downgrade a midfielder to raise budget get Lukaku in for Anichebe and play 442 in GW26 (with Sanchez and Ibra benched)

    Evening/morning all,

    Heaton (Robinson)

    Alonso, Brunt, Coleman (Pieters, Amat)

Sanchez (C), Eriksen, Alli, Phillips (Stan*)

    Ibra, Carroll, Lukaku

    2.5 itb

Stan to Siggy this week make sense?

Depending on GW 28 blanks will move Sanchez to Hazard week after.
