The ScoutCast – Episode 228 – Countdown

The final countdown has begun with the new season kick-off now less than 24-hours away.

Earlier the week the ScoutCast grew gathered as the clock ticked down, with Jonty, Andy and Luke joining myself to tackle a raft of perfectly targeted questions from you – the community.

Each of us take turns to reveal our current line-ups, while the collection of queries allowed us to put each of the four positions under the microscope. On occasions, we even broke from the ScoutCast tradition to provide some definitive answers.

Pre-season gremlins struck as I dropped out in full flow on Paul Pogba, but I managed to return to steer the ship towards its final destination – the first weekend preview of the new campaign.

It’s good to be back.

      Think the Luka ownership and good home fixture makes gw1 quite easy actually.
      As for the team in general, its only gw1 - early WC will likely be what most go for so dont sweat it

    Big dilemma!

    Midfield is: Pogba, Alli, Willian, Zaha, Redmond

    Attack: Lacazette, Lukaku, Gabbiadini

    Defence is fine, could invest 0.5 more at a push but happy to leave it. I want to swap a midfielder for RLC, but don't know where to invest.

      The consensus I believe seems to Mounie or Jay Rod. Deeney would have also been in the mix but he's not 100%.

      I'm currently with Mounie but that could change to Jay Rod if someone sells a good case for him.

        I chose Redmond based on the early fixtures for Southampton.

        I use Mee for his early home games and bench him for the away games. Suttner's early fixtures are great so it shouldn't matter much. All 5 defenders play so I have alot of freedom when it comes to choosing my team...although that can pose more problems when choosing...

          I think they have easy fixtures together and hard fixtures together. I want these 2 but i don't think they rotate well together.

            I'm looking to sell one of them, if not both, by the 12th fixture. I don't see a point in holding onto both at that point. However, if they do great, I could end up keeping them a little longer.

      My opinion is a bit much in defence and 5th mid. Money saved there could upgrade Redmond.

        I could get myself a 7.5mil 4th midfielder but I chose Redmond based on the fixtures he has. I'm placing alot on Southampton having a good start to the season essentially.

            The good news is I can rotate any of the soton defensive players since I have all starters. If it pays off, I won't need to use my wildcard at the start.

      The trick is to choose a playing 4.5 mil midfielder that is not highly owned so that in case his ownership falls, you don't lose value. For example, if RLC flops for the first few games (providing he starts), then managers will transfer him out. If they do that, there's a high likliehood that his value will drop because of his high initial ownership.

      I've been trying to convince myself of the same thing, but I can't seem to do it. I mean, he scored 224 points in 2523 minutes last season. Lukaku scored 221 points...in 3266 minutes. Essentially, Lukaku played in 8.25 more games than Kane and still didn't outscore him. And it is for that reason that he is definitely going to be in my squad...
