The final countdown has begun with the new season kick-off now less than 24-hours away.

Earlier the week the ScoutCast grew gathered as the clock ticked down, with Jonty, Andy and Luke joining myself to tackle a raft of perfectly targeted questions from you – the community.

Each of us take turns to reveal our current line-ups, while the collection of queries allowed us to put each of the four positions under the microscope. On occasions, we even broke from the ScoutCast tradition to provide some definitive answers.

Pre-season gremlins struck as I dropped out in full flow on Paul Pogba, but I managed to return to steer the ship towards its final destination – the first weekend preview of the new campaign.

It’s good to be back.

        I have a gut feeling that Siggi will go to Everton and Carroll will become a great asset so I'm going to start him but I agree that 2 4.5 mids is a little scary.

          Low owned Long for Burnley. Not a starter but low owned rather than Rangel when/if price drops.

          My non-playing 4m defender is Mariappa (watford). Read in article on this site that of all the budget defenders, perhaps he has the best chance of a start (you shoul find and read that article)

    Asked this earlier, but didn't get many answers. If I don't already have Southampton coverage, would it be worth it to take Yoshida over Kompany and keep the 1.0 ITB for flexibility?

      no, you can't keep any money ITB for gameweek 1
      just try to maximize your team to cover until gameweek 2
      then you can have 2 FT

        Why can't I have money ITB for week 1. That extra 1.0 would potentially let me do Lukaku to Kane or Lacazette to Aguero in one transfer. I guess what I'm really asking here is, given the fixtures, could Yoshida get as many points as Kompany over the first few weeks?

          Dont know that Yoshi is nailed (nobody does really).

          I've splashed the extra 5.5 for Bertrand for that reason but would say yes, a playing Saints defender could score more than Kompany but I've gone for one from each cause who can really tell!

        I made the rest of the team and realized I had a lot left in the budget for defense. I'm happy with everything else, so please don't try to convince me to move money around, don't think I can stand much more tinkering.

      I had Gabb as well, upgraded to FIrm (have Salah as well) and downgraded my 7.0 Willian (you have Zaha) but essentially same team.

        My hunch tells me Kun. And I like the differential (if you can call it that) over the shine of new boy Jesus.

        Plus, PLUS. nobody mentions Kun has pens, and, more likely to play central as Jesus would be the one to push out wide with his work rate

      Defence is too weak I don't like carrying 2 4.0s upgrade one of them to a 4.5 so you can rotate in case of injuries or bad fixtures.
      So yeh downgrade Firmino to Gabbi (that is of course if Dane = Mane)

    So we're all advising each other and there is a strong template team. But we all know that some players that we expect to score big points will let us down. On the other hand, players that we overlook will in fact score points. Who do you think are the best mavericks picks ? Even if it's too early to go for mavericks picks, just for fun.

    I personally think Tadic is a good choice, 0.5 cheaper than Willian or Zaha. Vardy is a great striker and could be a good 3rd striker choice if you decide to spend a lot on forwards (not fantasy him as a 2nd striker though, too much of a risk). Firmino get all the love but I think he will be outscored by his teammates.       Ake, i mean Daniel's is the incumbent, but he has 2 good young lbs behind him who want to play and hes also not on pens anymore

      Daniels is as safe as you get.

      His stats are also impressive, was comparing him to wing backs last night in the members section and he's as good as Alonso for that.
