After Eden Hazard failed to deliver in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Huddersfield, eight of the top ten captains in Fantasy Premier League are set to feature over this evening’s seven matches.

All eyes are on Harry Kane as Spurs welcome Brighton to Wembley Stadium – after a weekend home brace against Stoke, he’s the top armband pick for Gameweek 17, with 25.2% of managers handing him the captaincy – his biggest majority of the season so far.

Mohamed Salah is second only to Kane, with 17.8% backing after serving up seven sets of double-digits. Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are also back on the Liverpool team-sheet, though, after featuring as subs against Everton.

The latter was second only to Kane for transfers in ahead of Tuesday’s deadline – over 197,000 acquired Firmino in the rush to replaced the stricken Alvaro Morata.

Romelu Lukaku, Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez will be hoping that history repeats itself this evening.

Lukaku is toiling for form right now, with a single goal in nine Gameweeks, but scored four at home to tonight’s visitors Bournemouth while at Everton last season.

Aguero, meanwhile, netted twice in Man City’s win at Swansea in 2016/17 – he returns to Pep Guardiola’s XI as Gabriel Jesus takes up bench-warming duties.

Sanchez heads to West Ham, where he ran riot on his way to three goals and an assist in the previous campaign.

Elsewhere, Charlie Austin and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were both subject to significant transfers in ahead of Gameweek 17, with 156,00+ and 172,000+ new owners respectively.

Both have the fixtures to strengthen their claims as budget third strikers.

Austin – with four goals in three starts – hosts a Leicester defence with one away shutout to their name.

Ranked top for points per million, Calvert-Lewin has a goal and three assists in the last four Gameweeks and visits a Newcastle defence that’s conceded an average of three goals per game over their previous five league fixtures.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Which of the transfers below look most appealing. Have 2 FTs.

    1) Azpi+Francis -> Christensen+Smalling/Jones
    2) Azpi+Richarlison-> Christensen+Son
    3) Kane+RLC/Richarlison-> Morata/Lukaku+Silva/Mahrez

    Team is currently:
    Gomes Fabianski
    Azpi Ota Bellerin Mee Francis
    Salah Sterling Haz Richarlison RLC
    Kane Vardy Quaner

I am tempted too, but it will give me defensive benching headache. For e.g. who to bench this week then - Mee or Ota? Or play 5 at the back?

Five at the back could be an option, have to start Ota imo.

Anyone else considering ditching Kane?? Don't see him scoring this week, and I don't see him going massive against Burnley, and his BGW is coming up soon. Thinking of ditching him for Aguero and getting Kane back in GW 22

    1. Reiko
      • 10 Years

Aguero is not nailed. Morata or Lukaku may be better options although I rate neither of them.

I know that Aguero is not nailed but I still see him starting 3 of the next 4 games, which is the same as Kane, and I prefer Aguero's fixtures. And yeah I agree I don't rate Morata or Kaku as options.

Think it could work, not the greatest fixtures and a blank. However, Kanes scoring has been unpredictable. Secondly with so much rotation and injuries, i wouldn't waste two transfers getting him in and out.

Yeah that's a good call. Also, it's risky to invest elsewhere because you could shoot yourself in the foot and not be able to bring Kane back in. Still, I'm thinking it's a risk worth taking. I have no City attacking coverage and 2 Spurs attackers (also have Son), so it seems logical to get a City attacker for the next couple of weeks.

Most of citys goals are comming from the midfield. Kdb and silva are nailed and Sterling is looking more favourable (atleast for the moment?). Kane is nailed and even thou his braces are tough to predict i would rather try to predict them instead of peps attacking rotations...

Very bad move ditching kane unless u dont spend what you have left over from him as then it will take 2 transfers to get him back in and so 4 needless tramsfers

Westhams Ogbonna (4,3) or masuaku (4,4) have great fixtures and lowcost. both of them look pretty nailed on and Westhams defence have been really solid in 3 games two of them vs city and Chelsea.
Kenny (4.4) in Everton is cheap and nailed on until Colemans broken leg is recovered but Evertons fixtures are tougher.

He may very well play. He started 2 back to back PL games in the space of 3 days, while Jesus was benched for both if I m not mistaken. I think Pep also looks at the form of the player before deciding to rotate him.

He could have felt Jesus would be a better option against Man Utd defense. Pep's perception of them is different than ours so we cannot determine the reason for benching.

With regards to form, Sane seems to have lost some because of which he was played in the not so important UCL match, and replaced by Bilva last game and not Sterling

      That defence looks nasty.

I'd probably play 4-3-3 with your players (benching gross + rlc) and take a 4 point hit to sort that defence out to get 4 decent starters.

Ward & Zanka or Mbemba to go. Ogbonna a decent shout with fixtures coming up for West Ham. They look solid at the back ATM. Maybe Monreal is an option too if you can get him in.

Why would you bench Otamendi with his attacking threat and form at the moment? Spurs arnt going to do much against city.

I'd much rather play Otamendi over all your 3 defenders fielded

    ---------------------
    A) Ramsey
    B) Kiko
    C) Ward

Once Pogba is available, who is a priority? Pogba or Jones/Smalling? I have space for only one and need to reserve some this GW

    Fab
    Azpi, Ota, Mustafi*
    Salah, Hazard, Sane, RLC
    Niasse, Kane, Austin
    Bench: Elliot, Duffy, Ward*, Richarlison*

    1) GTG (barring Ward or Rich status)
    2) Elliot > Pope or Lossl
    3) Niasse > Diouf
    4) Something else (1FT, 0.9itb)
    5) Save

Sane was rested today and has Spurs at home next. With those two things in mind, the right time to give up on him is if he blanks in gw19 vs. BOU... right?

The right time for me was this gameweek. As soon as I saw he was not playing I started planning his departure. I've now got Silva & Sterling both in midfield instead of Sanè & Fernandiniho.

      I feel happy I did it 🙂

On the face of it seems a good move. Subjectively depends on your team though. Will the extra funds be more useful elsewhere etc.
