FFS Cup

Fantasy Football Scout Cup – First Round Draw

After a tough qualification round, involving more than 2,000 managers, the time has come to reveal who has made it through to the first round  of our open-to-all Fantasy Premier League Cup competition.

A score of 60 points, with a rank of 211,070 or below for those who hit that score exactly, was needed to become one of the 512 managers to progress from Gameweek 29’s qualification draw.

Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle United saw HC Villa become the lucky manager to just scrape through. He successfully transferred in Reds left back Andrew Robertson, captained goal scorer Mohamed Salah and also earned an assist from Roberto Firmino.

Meanwhile, there is disappointment for our moderator Pukka-Geoff, who is 11th in the Career Hall of Fame. He scored 60 but just missed the cut due to his rank of 215,338.

In our previous cup, winner TH14 joined Sleepysi, Gribude, MCH, A Manager Has No Name, Mark, TH14, Wild Rover, Gooner Dave, CMIFLFC and myself in seeing their name on the cup.

Mark was particularly fortunate – gaining his bye with a 44-point total that was woefully short of the qualifying mark. He will need to improve if he is to progress past the opening round. He faces 592,201 ranked Khumz in his first tie.

Meanwhile, the 10,138 ranked reigning champion is among the favourites to make it through to the second round after drawing DaFoe22, who is 379,523 places behind him.

Sleepysi is another former champion who will be confident of progress. He is ranked a lofty 2,579 while his opponent BowenArrow is currently placed 48,461 in the world.

Gribude is just outside the top 5,000 and squares up to 53,866 placed Kirton Hoops, MCH takes on a SADIO SANÉ steered outfit that is ranked 128,450 placed behind him and my 1,644 placed side collides with 48,922 ranked BALLDONTLIE.

A Manager Has No Name, who is at the 5,281 mark in the overall standings, has arguably the most favourable tie among our former champions when he meets dupper9, who with a placing of 2,909,460 is the lowest ranked manager in the tournament.

The first round looks far trickier to navigate for Wild Rover, who is ranked 147,484 places behind his opponent McMurphy. Goonerdave (rank 259,377) also has a tricky encounter with 73,105 placed 2 Girls 1 Shlup.

CMIFLFC is another champion that may struggle. With a 1,904,353 rank he is the fifth lowest placed manager in the competition and takes his beleaguered troops into battle with Jon Nurse’s high-flying, 7,296 placed side.

Other notable match ups include 19,728 placed TorresMagic™’s tie with mooimachicken (rank 202,903) and our 4,322 ranked tech guru matzi11a’s clash with DAZZ (rank 93,016).

There’s also an intriguing derby when greghammer95 faces MC Hammer.

The first round features four managers in the top 100 of the overall rankings, howsheref (rank 78), davidoff7 (rank 93), Leaf (rank 97) and thisisdiz (rank 98).

The unlucky managers to take on this elite quartet are respectively 27,399 placed Nani R U OK, 43,700 ranked Grock United, 981,978 placed Duffy Dunk and Hoos01, who is 105,847 overall.

The full first round draw can be found here.

What order of subs should I go:

    Currently: Depoitre,Ogbonna,Dunk
    Formation: 3-5-2

      Ogbonna first

  7. Whats the Huth

    6 years, 1 month ago

I have Son, Sterling and Davis. Whom may all not even start.

Is it worth keeping them in my team for the time being, and pray.

Using my remaining 3 FT to get up to 9 GW31 players

Or should I transfer of of these three and get in the likes of Mahrez or Sane. Leaving me with 8 GW31 players

(I dont want to take hits)

    1. Whats the Huth
      • 8 Years

My bench would be Wilson. Shaqiri and potentially Mee.

Think Son will start. He's scored 5 goals in last 3 matches and all of Spurs 3 goals in last 2 matches. Surely Poch cant drop his most inform player?

I would probably get rid of Sterling for a Gw31 mid maybe like Van la Parra?

So? Bernardo Silva played 270mins in 7 days and will play again on Monday and everyone are convinced that Sterling wont start

Sterling has been injured and dint even make the bench last night which probably helps Silva's case for keeping his place for this week atleast.

    Pope
    Alonso - Otamendi - Dawson
    Salah - Son - Sterling - Walcott
    Kane - Firmino - Niasse

    (Elliot / CM / Daniels / Wimmer)
    2 ft & 0.1m

Thinking Sterling to Van La Parra & save other FT?

Gives me money for Son & Niasse to Mane & King for free next week.
    (9 GW31 players - 7 attackers & 2 defenders)

    Appreciate your thoughts!

      Does not matter

Allows short term wc punt prior to dgw, not seen much mention of this. I might get Deeney for 32&33 then transfer for Ayew for 34. Lukaku for SWA In 32, then to Kane is another

Pritchard has more potential (if you check VLP's history he doesnt score many goals) but VLP has more minutes guaranteed. Its more like a coinflip i ll go for Carrillo instead since cant decide between them.

    Current squad - 2FT £0.1ITB

    Foster Elliot

    VVD Alonso Ogbonna Mee Kenny

    Salah Sterling Richarlison Son Shaqiri

    Firmino Kane Ayew

Thinking Sterling to Walcott this week, rolling the 1FT and then Alonso to Coleman and Ayew to King the following week.

Got all chips intact. Sound good?

    Pickford
    Otamendi - Davies - Robertson - Alonso
    Salah - Son - Mahrez - Mkhitaryan
    Kane (c) - Firmino
    Bench : Wilson - Milivojevic - Ogbonna

    1FT. £0.5m ITB.

Robertson and Ogbonna both doubts, would you replace either? Could also ditch Mkhitaryan, he's been a bad pick.

Planning to ditch Davies (Ogbonna will play 90/0 minutes probably) for Coleman. Counting on Rose to start. Robertson is needed for bgw31, knock is no reason to transfer out, he can be benched.

    BGW differential watch: Seamus Coleman!

I've just realised I can buy Goalman direct for Ogbonna... foregone conclusion that I'll probably do it. !0.3% ownership!
He could be a potent differential during the BGW - and he has clean-sheet phobic Brighton next.

4 goals 4 assists last season. In the time he was on fire (prior to injury) between GW20-29:
    He fired in 7 attempts
Created 10 chances, including 4 big chances
    Produced 42 crosses

Worth a look as a premium differential at 6.4, surely...

Schindler has moved down my list

Wouldn't drop arnie this week at home to Burnley tbh. Can you not just take sterling out?

Niasse to King worth using Ft on next week?
(if he blanks & is benched again this week)

Hes my 7th attacker for Gw31. So if I keep him and sell Kane I will have to bench Niasse.
