Why Mark has played his FPL Wildcard for Gameweek 3

We can reveal that Mark Sutherns has played his Wildcard for Gameweek 3 of the 2018/19 Fantasy Premier League season.

Joe spoke to him in the latest episode of ScoutCast Extra Time on Friday afternoon to find out his reasons for hitting the button and making a raft of changes.

You can watch that video below or on our YouTube channel.

Mark explained that a lot of his decision revolved around how volatile the transfer market has been since Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.2m) hat-trick in Gameweek 2.

With managers all over the world chopping and changing Mark was faced with a situation where several of his original assets were facing price falls, and those he wanted to replace them with were going in the opposite direction.

Joe made the case for sticking with Mark’s original Gameweek 2 team but it will definitely be an all-new line-up in Gameweek 3.

In our latest edition of ScoutCast Extra Time, Mark takes us through two different teams he is considering before Saturday’s 11:30am deadline – one with Eden Hazard (£10.5m) and one without.

PVA & King > Alonso & Ings for a -4 hit? Will look like this: (Will have 0.1m ITB).

    Foster
    Mendy Robertson Alonso
    Salah Mane Richarlison Mhkitaryan
    Aguero Zaha Ings

    Fabianski Peltier Stephens Wan-Bissaka

I wouldn’t do it, especially for a hit. Pva is a good pick, and with a decent fixture also so why lose points to get rid of a player who could easily score more than the player your getting in!

King for Ings sounds decent, but he could score this gw. Why not just hold and then do it for free next gw?

No. King transfer out next week he might come good but no guarantee (no one ever), PVA nice fixture, I actually thinking Shaw > PVA myself.

Don’t know if anyone saw it early, but had a go at making a Kane Salah Aguero Auba team for fun ... and was actually better than I expected it could be! Obvious weak areas, but with those 4 big hitters there’s always gonna be:

    Fabianski Hamer
    TAA Mee Cook AWB Bennett
    Salah Richarlison Fraser Kante
    Kane Auba Aguero

All things considered, don’t think it’s too bad

Well I’ve got salah aubs and Aguero. To me Kane on top of them all weakens the rest of the team too much. (Which you already knew)

It stops you from having players like Mendy robbo Alonso and some other good options in midfield

Even going by last season, I had Kane and missed most of his hauls and captained him for most of his blanks which definitely hurt me more than it benefited me

Yeah, I agree. I’ve got those same three, and couldn’t see myself going without Mendy and Robbo who I also currently have.

Just was a SLIGHTLY better team then I thought could be managed with those 4 players in it. Very unbalanced though

It's actually decent enough, I'd put Pereira for Leicester in there instead of Mee.

There's really no need for that frontline though, it just doesn't seem like good value. And you'd probably end up switching the captaincy constantly and never nail it

        Good point.

Oh for sure would be a nightmare. Not proposing anyone tries to go for this team, but just thought it interesting as I was bored.

You can still get in some players on decent form with decent fixtures

Ya I get what you're upto. Its interesting how obvious the lack of value in the front 3 becomes when you see them all there alongside eachother. Be a mega week if the main 4 all scored a hatty and no teams kept a clean sheet in the same week

To me Salah, Auba, Aguero acceptable because others player in their respective club not as good as them especially Arsenal. City mid maybe good but rotation risk.

Kane? nope, other Spurs could definately be better value like Alli, Eriksen, Son.

I'd say so, can still see Lacazette starting.

All Emery ruled out was playing a formation with 2 up top, but has shown in pre season that Auba can play wide left with Laca central

Ozil has been so dreadful. But aye he was nearly in my gw1 team so I understand that one.

Look 3 transfers and you could have salah, and two decent cheaper mids that are nailed.

If you want stability don’t get in fellaini, Iwobi, ozil or Lingard

    Salah + Mane owners...
    Are you

    A) Sticking
    B) Selling

Mane for LIV’s tough-ish run of fixtures after this GW? Obviously on great form so selling would be with a heavy heart, but a downgrade does allow upgrades in other places (like Mee to Alonso in my team). That, Mane can be a bit patchy in terms of form (not as consistent as Salah perhaps), and you’ve always still got Salah.

    Thoughts?

I don’t believe Liverpool have difficult fixtures coming from attacking perspective but yes harder defensively to keep clean sheets against the bigger teams. I think pool could score 3 or 4 goals on their day against any team. But if u own Salah and Mané and we’re selling one, the Mané would be transferred after another little value rise.

Half of my ML doesn't own Salah, including the current leader, but they have 9 of the other template players and it has not hurt them too much. Until this GW maybe...

if you subtract away base prices, salah consumers a quarter of the teams budget
he also cant increase in price from here (no more buyers at the margin) so he is easy to bring back in and if he blanks a couple of weeks could be done at a discount as well.
having said that watching the first 2 games id be worried not to own him
you just have to have confidence and resolve that your 2 premium players (and captaincy choice) will be not worse than salah plus a cheapie

David Silva starts right? His stats look really encouraging. He was more attacking than everyone bar Kun last week. He seems to have a real licence to attach with Ferd/Gund behind him.

      All answers are conjecture.

He does not start this week and Pep lines up similar to g/w1 with perhaps Otta coming into defence.

I went with A + mkhi for a few reasons.

Firstly I think pedro and mkhi are underpriced by at least 1m each and offer excellent value. Yes they are both potential rotation risks, but not right now and their prices are rising so you always jump off later. Conversely I think hazard is overpriced by 0.5. I think Auba is +0.5 or correct its hard to say but I chose Auba as his fixture run lasts longer. The other option for the 3rd premium is Mane who was probably underpriced by 1m at the start.

Sacrifices must be made. Simple. Besides, Kane has 8 away games in next 12, and hardly justifies his price tag.
He bags a hat trick, then that’s already happened, chasing points etc.

Pedro out could be the move. Will leave me 0.5 to upgrade Cook to TAA. Pedro will probably be dropped at some point. But if he keep getting starts, he has the potensial to score like a 9-10 million player.
Its between him and Fraser at the moment.
