Share:

A crisp November Saturday saw the second FFScout take place at Parmiters School, Watford, with five teams of FFScout regulars and guest players competing and raising money for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).

In the group stages, MyPrettyPony’s TWFC side showed the best cohesion, perhaps unsurprisingly since most of them play together regularly in a midweek work team.

A tight opening game saw TWFC finally hit Hilton FC on the break to open the scoring before Hilton’s defender fired in a wonderful own goal from an acute angle to settle TWFC nerves.

A late third for TWFC was somewhat harsh on Hilton FC, who were more than a match for their opponents in every aspect except the score-line.

Meanwhile, on the other pitch, the two Scout heavy teams shared the spoils in a four-goal thriller.
ScoutB came back from the shock of conceding two early goals from Bhuna and BenS (both continuing their fine form in front of goal from our last tournament), to restrict ScoutA to just one point, ultimately to prove their only point of the group campaign.

Both Hilton FC and Flitwick Leisure struggled in front of goal, each hitting the target in just one of their four league fixtures, yet the latter went unbeaten and recorded just a solitary goal against to finish the league in second, behind a TWFC which recorded good wins against both the FFScout sides.

Following the mini-league competition and with some players having to depart early it was agreed that teams would be shaken up a little for a separate knock out challenge featuring just four six-a-side teams.

Despite their unbeaten league campaigns, both TWFC and Flitwick Leisure crashed out in the semi-finals, losing out to Scout A and Scout B respectively to set up an intra-Scout cup final.

In truth, though, the two Scout sides largely cancelled each other out in a final to forget with chances at a premium and Scout A going closest when a header from Paul came back off the bar.

Scout B then punished tired legs in defence as the excellent RMT Professor picked out CouldGetMessi and his low drive beat sweeper keeper, Matzi, to nestle into the bottom corner and secure the cup for ScoutB.

The football was enjoyable, the facility fantastic and the evening drinks well earned, but of course the main purpose of the day was to raise funds for CALM, who work to prevent male suicide in the UK.

We were delighted to raise over £350 on the day with a similar figure being donated online to the Just Giving page here.

At the time of writing, the total raised stands at over £650. Thank you to everyone who played or just contributed.

    Prediction time ..

Who actually will be most captained in top 10K this upcoming GW?

Salah, Kun or surprise surprise Richarlison?

Richarlison leada the FFS poll. I lean towards Salah somehow as top captain this gw

Richarlison has a great fixture but I think he is too volatile. West Ham can not defend and so far only has one clean sheet. I admit that this week is not an easy decision.

I've gone back and forth on this and I am torn - so would you rather.

    A) Mendy & Salah to Alonso & Hazard
    or
    B) Mendy & Sane to Doherty & Hazard (intending to upgrade Salah to Kun eventually)

    Fabs/Hamer
    Robo/LaPorte/Mendy/Balbuena/AWB
    Salah/Sterling/Mane/Sigurdson/Murphy
    Arnie/Wilson/Success

This is what I want to do but my hesitation is if I want Kun in eventually I need to go Doherty. Lack of home games for Man City in the next 4 is swaying me to go Alonso and worry about it later though. May need to just drink and then decide!

Fernandez is our best player and will mop up the baps. Yedlin is slightly more attacking but we don’t attack 🙂 Fernandez a threat from corners too. Try a comparison on members area to see what they say

Ha. I’d be tempted to keep for Burnley and then I can see the value in losing a Liverpool asset. That said you don’t have hazard so city do have the next best fixture

    2FT, 1.3 ITB
Current backline: Patricio, Alonso, Robbo, Mendy

Couple of tranny options for you to help me decide. Looking at short term punts before WC in GW15, although plan may change, as they do so quickly.

    A) Mendy > Digne/Doherty, roll the 2nd FT
    B) Mendy > Digne/Doherty, Mane > Hazard
    C) Mendy, Pelter > Digne, Doherty. Do Mane > Hazard the following week (can't see Hazard outscoring Mane massively away to Spurs, can you?). This option means if Doherty isn't fit, Pereya comes off the bench nicely.

    Thoughts? Cheers!

    Aguero or Salah for Captain...

I’m leaning towards Kun as City are so attacking and could score 4 or 5 in any game whereas Pool will likely be happy with a 1-0 get in there and get out. I did see Watford live at SJP a few weeks back though and they looked very shaky at the back. Salah could get more game time too.

Tough call this week, any other arguments for/against either candidate?

      Salah:
      For
Its Watford, and Salah did well against them last year. Will definitely play more than 60 minutes.
      Against
Liverpool recently haven't looked explosive, might not be a high scoring match.

      Aguero
      For
City has the talent to score to 5-6 goals against West ham and given Aguero is their man, he will surely be involved.
      Against
Aguero might not play more than 65 minutes as UCL is coming up.

    1mil itb, 1ft

    Pat (Fab)
    Alonso, TAA, Bennett (Trips, AWB)
    Hazard, Mane, Anderson, Fraser (Billing)
    Aguero, Firmino, Arnie

    I'm thinking about these:
    A. Fraser to Richarlison (0.0 itb)
    B. Mane to Richarlison (this gives me money for future moves)

    What say you?

i'm reluctant to take a hit,
thinking to move firmino and billing soon tho.
        thanks for the reply

however, firmino has done nothing for me since i got him, just lost money on him, so i might do that move.

I did Firm > Kun this week. My 3 week punt on Firm for Cardiff and Fulham at home was horrible 🙁

Kamarasa is purely to come off the bench.

Hi guys would appreciate some help with this lot, currently 0FT with 0.1 on the bank. I'm 0.2 off doing Mendy to Robbo which is annoying!

    Hart (Foster)
    Alonso Laporte Mendy Doherty (WBA)
    (S)alah Hazard Richarlison Fraser (Billing)
    Aguero Jiminez (Arnie)

    A) Save FT and play Arnie and bench Mendy (sell next week)
    B) Mendy to VVD/TAA and bench Arnie

    Choose One:

    A) Trippier + Fraser to Richarlison + TAA (-4)

    or,

    B) Mane to Richarlison ( Have Salah as LFC attack)

    Ryan Button
    Alonso Robbo Mendy* Balbuena Bennett
    Salah(C) Haz Sterling Rich Kenedy
    Arnie Wilson Success (2FT 0.1ITB)
Stuck on best Mendy replacement- between Digne and AWB- don’t really know what I would do with extra cash from AWB but given his ownership feel like I need to get him back ahead of the easier fixtures.

    On wildcard

    A) Balbuena + gk with good fixture in GW13 (Fab on bench)
    B) Digne + play Fabianski (With 4.0 GK on bench for all of Fabs 8 good fixtures in a row)

The GK in A will probably be benched in GW 13 to 21
    The other players are locked
