New template forming after extensive Wildcard usage

With the Christmas period looming large for Fantasy managers, there have been increases in Wildcard uses from week to week.

Gameweek 16 saw the continuation of the heavy Wildcard usage among the top 10 thousand FPL managers, especially.

4.54% of them activated the chip compared to 3.64% in Gameweek 15. This leaves around 12% first Wildcards left for managers to use in December.

There are clues to the new template when we look at how Gameweek 16 Wildcards compare with those from Gameweek 15. As you can see, the options selected are mostly similar across the two line-ups.

The two squads share 13 from a possible 15 players, which means Gameweek 15 Wildcarders benefited from many price changes which Gameweek 16 Wildcarders probably missed.

One of the two selection differences is Callum Wilson replacing the injured Marko Arnautovic in the front line, although ironically he also picked up an injury himself.

The second is the inclusion of Sead Kolasinac instead of Lucas Digne, with Arsenal’s fixtures looking better long-term compared to Everton’s.

The rest of the most selected Wildcard picks are the same except for slight changes in the ownership percentages of certain players.

For example, Wildcarders became more convinced of including Harry Kane (74.45% to 85.9%) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (61.26% to 70.70%) in their new squads this week. Meanwhile the likes of Marcos Alonso (54.12% to 30.4%) and Leroy Sane (60.71% to 53.96%) suffered marginal drops in their Wildcard representation.

One major thing many Wildcarders missed was the inclusion of hat-trick hero Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is now the highest-scoring player so far in Gameweek 16 with 21 points, and he’s only included in just 32.2% of Wildcards this week.

He is also not that highly owned in general among the top 10k teams, with only 39.5% ownership, raised to 52.1% effective ownership by factoring the captaincy in.

This meant his owners earned big rank jumps, especially with the latest captain poll winner Aubameyang (40.31%) scoring only five points.

Meanwhile, the popular Wilson and Trent Alexander-Arnold missed out on Saturday lunch-time which again raises the importance of having a good bench in December.

Running simulations of the exact autosubs that will take place for just the two of them in the top 10k indicates the following results. It is Aaron Wan-Bissaka who will gain the most increase of effective ownership, followed by Alonso and Ryan Fraser, as indicated in the following table.

PlayerIncrease in Effective Ownership after TAA and Wilson autosubs
Wan-Bissaka23.40%
Alonso11.88%
Fraser9.09%
Bennet7.46%
Doherty3.23%

Alonso wasnt very attacking, he was playing man c tho.
      Sterling could easily have scored.

    Very early thoughts, but -

I'm considering A myself. It looks a good transfer, but at the same time I wan't to upgrade Martial to the likes of Alli or Son.
Let's say I'd hold on B until it's part of a two transfer deal.

With the money I get from doing Laca to Chich, I can do Martial -> Haz. Maybe even sterling if I free up around 0.4. Gives me a core of - Robbo, Salah, Sterling/Haz, Sane and Kane 😮

Everybody here ever did realize when Manchester United in first match league
When Luke shaw first Goal against Leicester City?
I saw the first game in the first match of PL game He choose Shaw as captain and he become high score in 1st place in first match on pl fantasy league and how could he knows Shaw will make a goal? Let's compares Luka vs Shaw, 99% to 1%, if pl fantasy league in here will be choose lukaku than Shaw on the match and will be choose triple captain on lukaku. On the point of this is simple I think this case was like setting from other to others. Because this is not logic when you choice Shaw as a captain than lukaku. I was play pl fantasy league 3 times. In 3 years I was learning this tips and trick from myself and from other sources. I think Guys this my last pl fantasy league, 5 million player didn't realize the happenings of these

        What I gleaned:
FPL is mostly luck. I won't be playing next year as logic and strategy don't work.

        1. Federico
          • 11 Years
          5 years, 3 months ago

I'd say you need a lot of luck to carry on with no strategy for 38 weeks. Some weeks are just painful, but I still value this game over a full season. Give's me a lot to talk about at work, even with people that aren't necessarily all about football.

Of course, if you feel that it ruins football for you (which I know people who thinks), then it's ok to step away for a while.

FPL I think you right but if you only use your lucky is not working because almost 6 million players play FPL just think 1 against 6 million, I think your FPL it must be unlucky for you

To win FPL you need a lot of luck, in addition to skills and planning.
I'm happy to have top 10k as my target, and take joy out of the competition I get from friends in my mini leagues.

In first match in primer league in Manchester United whom you choose as a captain Lukaku or Luke Shaw? It must be lukaku right?
In first match one players choose Luke Shaw as a captain on pl fantasy league and match M.U won against Leicester with 1-0 score in the only make a score the match is luke shaw and the players choose shaw as a captian plus with triple captian, if you know football any time could make a score including the goal keeper but the changes of the opportunity of 11 players on pitch it must be the striker has big opportunity to make a goal. And the other case other player pl fantasy league choose wing back as a captian
If you had mathematics logic the opportunity score strikers to wing back make a score it should be 90% against 10%.

Thanks for the rewrite, much better this time 🙂
Like I said in my post above, these kind of decisions (TC Shaw) won't work out most of the time, so over 38 gameweeks, you will probably catch these guys. Keep going, and climb steady!

I don't talk about players I just talk about FPL this game is fair or not. In FPL I got lot of problems after kick off whistle began we were couldn't changes player and transfer player but if we do that it will be work in next game right?
I have problems I want to substitute my players as a captain on the bench, it 30 minutes before kick off but when I make my strategy and substitute players I want after kick off and other team FC play my all players doesn't work, my strategy, my captain it's doesn't work
It's seem like I fool man

To copy that squad comes to £106.2 at the present time and I can't see many players having that TV. I certainly haven't . I'm £2m short as are the current top 3 in the game.

So there must be some savings to be made somewhere and I would suggest that doing Arni > Kamara would bring the TV of this Dream Team into the realms of many of the Top 10K who have yet to play their WC without negatively influencing the projected points scored.
