Aguero on the bench as Sterling and Sane start on the flanks for City

Manchester City take on Wolverhampton Wanderers this evening in the final match of Gameweek 22, with kick-off at the Etihad at 20:00 GMT.

Sergio Aguero has recovered from the illness that forced him to miss the 7-0 and 9-0 wins over Rotherham United and Burton Albion respectively but the Argentinean striker is only named among the substitutes this evening, as Gabriel Jesus gets the nod to lead the line.

Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane will be flanking the Brazilian tonight, while City’s midfield three of Bernardo Silva, David Silva and Fernandinho remains unchanged from the victory over Liverpool – meaning Kevin De Bruyne has to be content with a place on the bench.

Danilo gets the nod at left-back despite Fabian Delph‘s return from a three-match ban.

Nuno Espirito Santo has made two changes from the strong starting XI that defeated Liverpool in the FA Cup last Monday, with Matt Doherty and Rui Patricio replacing Ruben Vinagre and John Ruddy.

Diogo Jota is once again paired with Raul Jimenez in attack, with Joao Moutinho being deployed as the “number ten” behind Wolves’ strike pair.

Leander Dendoncker gets only his second league start of the season in central midfield.

The reverse fixture of this match ended 1-1, with Aymeric Laporte‘s header cancelling out a controversial opening goal from Willy Boly back in August.

Aguero was the fifth-most-captained FPL asset of Gameweek 22, while four Wolves’ players – Doherty, Patricio, Jimenez and Ryan Bennett – are among the nine most-benched Fantasy assets of this round of fixtures.

Sterling hasn’t scored more than six FPL points in a single game since Gameweek 14 but his season-long average of 7.1 points per match is second only to Mohamed Salah among FPL midfielders.

City are the only Premier League club without a clean sheet since the start of December, while Wolves haven’t kept a shut-out on the road since Gameweek 8.

Manchester City XI (4-3-3): Ederson; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Danilo; Fernandinho, Silva, Bernardo; Sane, Sterling, Jesus.

Wolverhampton Wanderers XI (3-4-1-2): Patricio; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Jonny, Dendoncker, Neves, Doherty; Moutinho; Jimenez, Jota.

Mendy on the bench for HUD/GW23? Is that even remotely possible?

After Kun being benched and Jesus scored a brace Kane > Kun is not an option anymore, right?

What to do with Kane then? to Auba maybe ? or to Firmino and use the leftover money to upgrade Richarlison to Sane?

    Team atm:
    Fabianski
    Alonso TAA Doherty Digne AWB
    Salah Hazard Pogba Richarlison Puncheon
    Kane Rashford Jimenez

It's not that it's not an option outright but the risk profile on bringing him in has certainly increased for mine.

Kun still first choice surely. But yeah, Jesus back scoring does reduce appeal when you have City mids to choose from and the likes of Rash, Firm, Auba, Jiminez all looking pretty nailed with good fixtures.

So who is everyone offloading Auba to? Doesn't seem like many better options right now imo, purely a makeweight for Salah?

    Whats best?

    B) Kane to Firmino and Lingard out for a hit to Mane/Alli
    C) Kane to Rashford and Lingard to Mane/Alli for a hit

This is my imagination but no matter what Jesus does, Pep will still want to start Kun against Arsenal & Chelsea, right? He will find matches for Kun to warm up for that. So it could still be a legit move to bring in Kun, right? He is not afraid of Arsenal and Chelsea anyway.

Don't think he is worth it though. Had him for a long time. Has q ceiling of about 6 or 7 points as City almost always score and he has limited goal threat. For 6m plus, that's a bit too high for me but well done certainly you deserve that

yeah he never got me more than 6 points but fortunately I had him for his run of 6 CSs in 6 games... keeping him now as fixtures look good.

Dr. Dre's Compton seems pretty underrated. Good production and some nice gems

Harry Kane scan tomorrow. Ankle too swollen hence X-ray was not possible until now. He is out for a while me thinks.
