Fantasy Allsvenskan: A Silly Season Update

Allsvenskan is back in action, but some players have already made their last games for the season. The summer break tends to define many Allsvenskan teams’ seasons and we’ll take a look at the most important action in the silly season – up until now. The Swedish transfer window officially opens on July 15 and closes on August 11, meaning transfers can be registered and new signings eligible at the earliest in GW 16. Perhaps because of that, the most notable actions have been transfers out.

Strikers

Some of the worst news for Fantasy managers are found within the striker bracket. 17-year-old Benjamin Nygren took many by surprise and proved a key enabler for our squads – but a 5m Euro transfer to Belgium side Genk means Nygren leaves with only 12 Allsvenskan games under his belt. The lack of similar priced strikers was reinforced by former team mate Patrik Karlsson-Lagermyr’s season ending injury, and many might look towards Jordan Larsson (7.6) who seems as a likely replacements in the same price bracket (although Larsson has recently stated that he knows clubs are following him and could be on the move himself).

Another popular option, Linus Hallenius, has left the league signing for Cyprus Champions Apoel. A consistent premium striker gone means managers will now have money to burn and that Sundsvall’s most pressing financial issues are resolved.

A likely candidate as a Hallenius replacement could have been Hammarby’s Kjartansson (10.0), who has been very consistent during the last gameweeks. However, a solution seems to be unlikely for ”Bajen” to keep Kjartansson according to the player himself, saying that although he wants to stay Rostov wants to sell him in this transfer window and the club does not intend to extend the loan. Another heavy hitter up top thereby seems to be lost – although we are awaiting official statements from Hammarby and Rostov. Hammarby are however not being left without an Icelandic striker – as Aron Johansson is soon to be signed from Bundesliga club Werder Bremen according to Silly Season guru Daniel Kristoffersson at Expressen.

Fellow Icelandic striker Andri Bjarnasson, who started the season in style, has left Helsingborg for Kaiserslautern. It remains to be seen whether former striker legend Henrik Larsson, who has been appointed manager for Helsingborg during the break, can get Wanderson (6.5), new signing Alhaji Gero (6.2) (previously Östersund) and the other remaining options to step up and score in the Icelandic’s absence. Strike partner Rasmus Jönsson has also left Helsingborg, as a club from Thailand provided an “all inclusive” deal to good to refuse.

Alexander Jeremejeff (9.7) has been a consistent source of points for Fantasy managers. However, clubs are monitoring his performances and the player himself hinted earlier this week that there is a minimum fee release clause included in his contract. We will probably have to wait and see what happens, but managers might think twice before transferring him in.

On loan AIK striker Jack Lahne is returning to France together with Stefan Silva who is leaving for Turkey, whereas Argentinian striker and fan favourite Nicolas Stefanelli joins the squad after having spent the spring in Cyprus.

Malmö striker Carlos Strandberg (9.0) returns from loan from Örebro, but according to semi-recent news Turkish club Alanyaspor are interested in signing Strandberg.

Midfielders

It was a short time in Allsvenskan for Ravel Morrison who leaves Östersund after just this spring. Team mate Hosam Aiesh (9.2) is surrounded by rumours but nothing is official as of right now. Amongst the interested clubs are Leeds, Nottingham and Reading, but also Russian and French clubs.

Speaking of rumours: Malmö are believed to have received, and rejected, a bid for Andreas Christiansen (10.0) from MLS club New York City FC. It comes as no surprise that ”AC” is drawing interest from abroad and fantasy managers should carefully follow the events. According to the latest rumours however, negotiations have fallen apart. Also team mate Bachirou (5.8) is getting interest, in particular from Turkish side Besiktas, but the same scenario is believed to be in that case – not very close to a deal.

Simon Thern (8.8) missed out in the victory against AIK, and some people think it was linked to the news that came out on the same day: that Norrköping has received an offer from a Russian club for the former Heerenveen player. Three bids are believed to have been placed on Thern from the same club, and another point strengthening the claims is the fact that Norrköping are rumoured to have placed a bid on Sundsvall’s Maic Sema (8.3) (which has been rejected).

Junes Barny has terminated his contract with IFK Göteborg, who are also running the risk of losing club captain Sebastian Ohlsson (6.8) to SC Braga according to the latest rumours.

Defenders

The league’s highest scoring player Daniel Sundgren has signed for Greek side Aris and has been released immediately. A tough blow to many sides, but at least we will have money to spend on any defender in the league – such as teammate Karol Mets (6.4).

Malmö has sold Andreas Vindheim to Sparta Prague meaning Eric Larsson (6.6) looks nailed for the fall. He might feature more to the right than centrally, as Malmö has completed the signing of center/left back Jonas Knudsen from Ipswich, who provides another option in central defence.

Kossounou Odilon has since been confirmed as leaving Hammarby for Club Brugge, although most have already transferred him out. It would however come as no surprise if Hammarby signs another central defender before the window closes, and reports claim that player will be the returning Richard Magyar, from SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

Those interested in Carl Starfelt (5.9) after the most recent review by Meltens on bonus point magnets should probably hold off the transfer button for a moment. The player with the most defensive bonus points in the league is believed to be in advanced negotiations with Russian side FC Rostov, and very recent reports claim that the clubs have agreed on a fee. IFK Göteborg are however rumoured to be interested in Bröndby right back Johan Larsson, who is known for being a really attacking wingback and could prove a decent option in Fantasy Allsvenskan.

Elfsborg defender Joakim Nilsson has signed for Arminia Bielefeld.

Goalkeepers

A top-scoring goalkeeper at 5.5 should of course be seen as a must buy? Well, hold that trigger. William Eskelinen has signed for Danish club AGF Arhus according to local Danish papers.

Former AS Roma keeper Gianluca Curci has terminated his contract with Hammarby, meaning soon-back-from-injury Johan Wiland (now 4.9) should become Hammarby’s first choice going forward.

Häcken goalkeeper Peter Abrahamsson (6.2) is drawing attention from the MLS, where an unnamed club is preparing an offer. However, as Abrahamsson’s contract is expiring at the end of the season he might leave then rather than now.

Some rumours state that there might be a swap between Helsingborg and Norrköping, where the popular budget option Joelsson (4.2) is to be swapped with Norrköping’s backup goalie Mitov Nilsson (4.8).

Have we missed any transfers with Fantasy implications?

Great summary Hansel! Maybe we could use this article as the one-stop gap for all transfer rumours and/or confirmed deals going forward in the summer? That makes it easy for everybody to know where the latest info regarding that is. Just a thought, maybe it gets tricky after a few weeks to navigate here.

Anyway, it seems you've been using good sources, many of the unconfirmed ones you've listed have gone through now! 🙂 Aron Johansson, Magyar, Starfelt to name a few.

Thank you for this update. Aron Johannsson and Jonas Knudsen the names that stand out to me.

I'll try to save my wildcard but my defence is in tatters with Sundgren, Mets and Berg. Also Nalic on the bench nowhere to be seen and gonna have to keep an eye on Eskelinen now.

Very rough. Nalic could be close but I'm selling this week. There are other, good options out there!

    Superb summary, really appriciate it!

I follow Allsvenskan closely but still didn't know a few of these transfers. Will take my first hit of the season to get Sundgren out, and although it doesn't feel quite good, I realize that I'm far from alone.

Thanks. The Joelsson swap would be annoying.
Don't have opportunity to worry too much about transfer yet though - only have 2 playing defs this week so need to fix that first.

I dont think the Joelsson-Mitov swap would be until after the season of it happens. There are however strong rumours that Helsingborg are about to sign former Manchester United keeper Anders Lindegaard on free transfer. Thats a worry for me who really need Joelsson to play in GW18.

Thanks for that. Same GW18 issue (Dahlin). I could still get 11 playing but wouldn't be a very good 11.

Who to bench out of this lot :

        Joelsson or Dahlin?

        Dimitriadis Krogh-Gerson Wernersson
        Kacaniclik AC Ring Tankovic
        Elyounoussi Larsson Karaishvilli

Also have Danielsson on the bench but have no idea who to take out of the team!

Starfelt transfer keeps killing me. Last week he was subbed off at 59 so I could not get CS points, and Jarl stayed on my bench. This week I took a hit to get him out and Jarl stays on my bench again...

Bad start to the GW from me (although 10 from 2 is not bad) and I am out of the top 200 now. Last five weeks I made some mistakes and took unnecessary hits, but looking to pick it up from here. Jeremejeff is important today as he is my captain.

Don't worry, we're only half way though the season, and these things happen. In hindsight, I should have saved my transfer last GW. That would have allowed me to do Sundgren to Wernersson and Tarik to Khariashvili for free this GW. Now I had to take a hit to get Sundgren out and another Häcken Toivio in (took out A. Andersson last GW) and Im still stuck with Tarik who's dropped in price. But there's nothing I can do about it now but planning for the future. AIK is really taking and giving at the moment. Theire early announced XI have earned me about 8p the last two GW, but the benching of Tarik and Sundgren has probably cost me about the same.

A serious advice from an Elfsborg supporter is to actually target players who are facing Elfsborg, because they are probably the worst team in the league right now. Not only are they not scoring goals, they've hardly created a chance for 5-6 gameweeks, and with Levi out and Cibicki leaving it's likely to go on like that.

Defence is also likely to leak more now that Nilsson has left, and as long as Gustav Henriksson is playing theres no chance of a clean sheet. He's got incredble 2p from 6 games, thanks to an own goal and a red card, and had a bizzare assist to the first AIK goal yesterday. He's only 3.8 but is still over priced 😉

I'll willingly admit, I think I've been stuck a bit of "old Elfsborg" with my approach, especially in pre-season. I can't quite understand how they've become so bad but I guess a lot of talent (like Victor Claesson) never got replaced and Jimmy Thelin being an awful fit?

Just listened to an interview with the director of football for Hammarby, Jesper Jansson. He says that he's in contact with Rostov to try to keep Kjartansson but they are "sitting on all the cards and ultimately they will make the call". I think he would be too expensive to buy so I'm assuming he's talking about if they can wiggle a loan-extension. As things stand, he'll play his last game tonight and head back to Russia.

As for Aron Johansson he will be available after Wednesday when it's officially through, but he's not played regularly for a while so he will have to be eased into it (making Djurdjic the only real option for a couple of GWs, unless they do some kind of false 9). More signings not particularly likely, and he's in contact with Tankovic to try to get him to sign a new deal. "No concrete offers on him so far from other clubs" he claims. Tankovic has one year left on his current contract - make of that what you will. I don't think Hammarby are in any rush to sell, it will be more likely if Tankovic himself decides it's time to go and there is a good option presented to him.

My team is lit like a christmas three right now, with Nalic, Traustason, Hodzic, Kossounou and Joelsson all suspended, injured, sold or doubts.

Hodzic is only suspended, so I'm unlikely to transfer him out; same with Kossounou and Joelsson. Is Traustason to Kačaniklić a good transfer?

Also tempted to transfer out Larson for a hit.

Traustason to Kacaniklic seems like a solid bet, also consider Irandust if you have the money. I'm thinking he's going to start delivering on a regular basis as soon as he gets his fitness up again, but both good shouts. Traustason seemingly out "until sometime in autumn": http://www.fotbolldirekt.se/2019/07/15/just-nu-da-ar-traustason-tillbaka-beskedet-dag/

Koussonou... I'm not sure you can hang on to him that much more with blanks, suspensions and general rotation kicking in but I get that he's at a tough price if not on WC.

I've jettisoned Sundgren with my FT and still have Vibe (failed punt, hoping for good news but expecting the worst), Nalic, Hodzic and Joelsson in my squad. Looking at throwing out either Vibe or Nalic but keeping the rest.

Kacaniklic possibly a bit less likely to rotate given no Europe, Irandust getting back to fitness. I'd give Kaca the slight edge at the moment but both good options 🙂

Understandable, I just worry about incoming rotation and the blank but most will have other fires to put out given the current state of things.

No news from what I've seen, Häcken go into Europa League next week and if he has a good showing there, that would make him an even more likely target out (especially if he's good but they still go out). If he keeps this up I can't see why bigger clubs wouldn't come sniffing around. He's got a contract until the end of 2021 but rumours indicate there is a buy-out clause in it. Doing my head in a bit as I don't have him, but if I did I'd definitely not sell before any concrete developments 🙂

It closes on the 13th of August for incoming, outgoing can still happen after that though if I recall correctly.

Apparently, Jeremejeff is also on 2 YC, not 3 YC, like the game would have you believe... His YC against Hammarby never made it to the match report/never happened, so Jeremejeff is also on the suspension tightrope. https://www.expressen.se/gt/sport/fotboll/allsvenskan/passningen-till-forbundskaptenen-det-ar-dags-att-han-far-chansen-/

I have 7 on the list. I have no doubt everyone will be suspended for the blank GW.

Nice! I'm also at five from the list, in addition to injured Joelsson and Vibe, suspended Hodzic and two blankers 🙂 If the blank wasn't around the corner a WC would feel very tempting.
