Allsvenskan is back in action, but some players have already made their last games for the season. The summer break tends to define many Allsvenskan teams’ seasons and we’ll take a look at the most important action in the silly season – up until now. The Swedish transfer window officially opens on July 15 and closes on August 11, meaning transfers can be registered and new signings eligible at the earliest in GW 16. Perhaps because of that, the most notable actions have been transfers out.
Strikers
Some of the worst news for Fantasy managers are found within the striker bracket. 17-year-old Benjamin Nygren took many by surprise and proved a key enabler for our squads – but a 5m Euro transfer to Belgium side Genk means Nygren leaves with only 12 Allsvenskan games under his belt. The lack of similar priced strikers was reinforced by former team mate Patrik Karlsson-Lagermyr’s season ending injury, and many might look towards Jordan Larsson (7.6) who seems as a likely replacements in the same price bracket (although Larsson has recently stated that he knows clubs are following him and could be on the move himself).
Another popular option, Linus Hallenius, has left the league signing for Cyprus Champions Apoel. A consistent premium striker gone means managers will now have money to burn and that Sundsvall’s most pressing financial issues are resolved.
A likely candidate as a Hallenius replacement could have been Hammarby’s Kjartansson (10.0), who has been very consistent during the last gameweeks. However, a solution seems to be unlikely for ”Bajen” to keep Kjartansson according to the player himself, saying that although he wants to stay Rostov wants to sell him in this transfer window and the club does not intend to extend the loan. Another heavy hitter up top thereby seems to be lost – although we are awaiting official statements from Hammarby and Rostov. Hammarby are however not being left without an Icelandic striker – as Aron Johansson is soon to be signed from Bundesliga club Werder Bremen according to Silly Season guru Daniel Kristoffersson at Expressen.
Fellow Icelandic striker Andri Bjarnasson, who started the season in style, has left Helsingborg for Kaiserslautern. It remains to be seen whether former striker legend Henrik Larsson, who has been appointed manager for Helsingborg during the break, can get Wanderson (6.5), new signing Alhaji Gero (6.2) (previously Östersund) and the other remaining options to step up and score in the Icelandic’s absence. Strike partner Rasmus Jönsson has also left Helsingborg, as a club from Thailand provided an “all inclusive” deal to good to refuse.
Alexander Jeremejeff (9.7) has been a consistent source of points for Fantasy managers. However, clubs are monitoring his performances and the player himself hinted earlier this week that there is a minimum fee release clause included in his contract. We will probably have to wait and see what happens, but managers might think twice before transferring him in.
On loan AIK striker Jack Lahne is returning to France together with Stefan Silva who is leaving for Turkey, whereas Argentinian striker and fan favourite Nicolas Stefanelli joins the squad after having spent the spring in Cyprus.
Malmö striker Carlos Strandberg (9.0) returns from loan from Örebro, but according to semi-recent news Turkish club Alanyaspor are interested in signing Strandberg.
Midfielders
It was a short time in Allsvenskan for Ravel Morrison who leaves Östersund after just this spring. Team mate Hosam Aiesh (9.2) is surrounded by rumours but nothing is official as of right now. Amongst the interested clubs are Leeds, Nottingham and Reading, but also Russian and French clubs.
Speaking of rumours: Malmö are believed to have received, and rejected, a bid for Andreas Christiansen (10.0) from MLS club New York City FC. It comes as no surprise that ”AC” is drawing interest from abroad and fantasy managers should carefully follow the events. According to the latest rumours however, negotiations have fallen apart. Also team mate Bachirou (5.8) is getting interest, in particular from Turkish side Besiktas, but the same scenario is believed to be in that case – not very close to a deal.
Simon Thern (8.8) missed out in the victory against AIK, and some people think it was linked to the news that came out on the same day: that Norrköping has received an offer from a Russian club for the former Heerenveen player. Three bids are believed to have been placed on Thern from the same club, and another point strengthening the claims is the fact that Norrköping are rumoured to have placed a bid on Sundsvall’s Maic Sema (8.3) (which has been rejected).
Junes Barny has terminated his contract with IFK Göteborg, who are also running the risk of losing club captain Sebastian Ohlsson (6.8) to SC Braga according to the latest rumours.
Defenders
The league’s highest scoring player Daniel Sundgren has signed for Greek side Aris and has been released immediately. A tough blow to many sides, but at least we will have money to spend on any defender in the league – such as teammate Karol Mets (6.4).
Malmö has sold Andreas Vindheim to Sparta Prague meaning Eric Larsson (6.6) looks nailed for the fall. He might feature more to the right than centrally, as Malmö has completed the signing of center/left back Jonas Knudsen from Ipswich, who provides another option in central defence.
Kossounou Odilon has since been confirmed as leaving Hammarby for Club Brugge, although most have already transferred him out. It would however come as no surprise if Hammarby signs another central defender before the window closes, and reports claim that player will be the returning Richard Magyar, from SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
Those interested in Carl Starfelt (5.9) after the most recent review by Meltens on bonus point magnets should probably hold off the transfer button for a moment. The player with the most defensive bonus points in the league is believed to be in advanced negotiations with Russian side FC Rostov, and very recent reports claim that the clubs have agreed on a fee. IFK Göteborg are however rumoured to be interested in Bröndby right back Johan Larsson, who is known for being a really attacking wingback and could prove a decent option in Fantasy Allsvenskan.
Elfsborg defender Joakim Nilsson has signed for Arminia Bielefeld.
Goalkeepers
A top-scoring goalkeeper at 5.5 should of course be seen as a must buy? Well, hold that trigger. William Eskelinen has signed for Danish club AGF Arhus according to local Danish papers.
Former AS Roma keeper Gianluca Curci has terminated his contract with Hammarby, meaning soon-back-from-injury Johan Wiland (now 4.9) should become Hammarby’s first choice going forward.
Häcken goalkeeper Peter Abrahamsson (6.2) is drawing attention from the MLS, where an unnamed club is preparing an offer. However, as Abrahamsson’s contract is expiring at the end of the season he might leave then rather than now.
Some rumours state that there might be a swap between Helsingborg and Norrköping, where the popular budget option Joelsson (4.2) is to be swapped with Norrköping’s backup goalie Mitov Nilsson (4.8).
Have we missed any transfers with Fantasy implications?

Great summary Hansel! Maybe we could use this article as the one-stop gap for all transfer rumours and/or confirmed deals going forward in the summer? That makes it easy for everybody to know where the latest info regarding that is. Just a thought, maybe it gets tricky after a few weeks to navigate here.
Anyway, it seems you've been using good sources, many of the unconfirmed ones you've listed have gone through now! 🙂 Aron Johansson, Magyar, Starfelt to name a few.
