The ascent of Tottenham’s Son Heung-min is among the key issues that Joe, David and Karam tackle ahead of Gameweek 17.

The Spurs midfielder’s broad range of points from goals to assists and bonus has understandably caught their eye ahead of his side’s favourable fixture run.

But who makes way and which other of the north London side’s assets should he be paired up with?

Manchester City’s once-bright stars are being increasingly jettisoned by FPL managers and look to be the obvious fall guys in the clamour for Jose Mourinho’s troops.

However, Liverpool’s high-flying assets could become unlikely players to dump. This episode’s key talking point jumps ahead to Gameweek 18, when Jurgen Klopp’s lads miss a fixture due to Club World Cup commitments. On their return, a hard-to-call clash with Leicester awaits and the Scoutcast crew mull over the unthinkable – saying goodbye to Liverpool’s premium players, albeit temporarily.

The fixtures just passed also come under discussion, in particular, Joe and David’s removal of a bracing player each from their line-ups. But thanks to their replacements also performing well, they have mixed feelings about their moves.

World chess champion Magnus Carlsen’s team is also looked at again after he reached an eye-watering fourth spot in the overall rankings.

Meanwhile, Gameweek 17’s transfer plans and captaincies are revealed. There are festive clean sheets to look over and Karam takes his turn picking a top differential to climb the rankings over the next four Gameweeks.

If we suppose that Taylor will miss another game, what about Button, Traore > Martin, Keita (-4) and hit BB button?

    Hendo Button*
    Soy Lund VVD Aurier Lowton
    Son Mane Maddi Zaha Traore*
    Vardy Tammy Rash

    A)Aubameyang > Abraham
    A.Traore > Martial

    B)Aubameyang > Rashford
    A.Traore > Pulisic

Either of these worth a -4?

    2 quick questions;
    Who to start?

    1. Mount (BOU) / Zaha (BHA)
    2. Aurier (wol) / Kelly (BHA)

As an owner for 16 GWs all I can say is "sell him, never look back and enjoy the points of the player you brought in".

Seriously, he looks poor, Man City look poor, Pep said himself that they cannot compete at this moment with top teams in Europe, plus he's even dearer than last season. Of course he's going to score here and there but you're not giving him an armband and there's at least 15 midfielders with more points and/or better value.

Iv got rid to too. Did Sterling to KDB to fund getting in Son. I don’t think Sterling is worth his price tag at the moment

    Rashford or Abraham and why?

Rashford as in my opinion slightly better fixtures but chelsea attacks way more than united. What do you think?

    1. Brosstan
      • 11 Years
      6 years, 19 days ago

Abraham because Chelsea are a fundamentally more attacking side. United still havent shown ability to break down a defensive team.

You mean a team like Sheffield?

Just because Sheff Utd have a good defence doesn't mean they're a defensive team plus we were awful in that game bar 10 minutes. I'm pretty sure he meant teams like Palace and Newcastle, ones that primarily set up for a draw and hit the occasional counter, not sure if Everton are as well drilled as those though.

So you're saying Newcastle are harder to break down than Sheffield?

Sheffield were naive when 2-0 up. United looked completely clueless against Newcastle who actually defended for 90 minutes

They didnt break down Sheffield. Sheffield dominated the vast majority of the game.

            6 years, 19 days ago

But not the whole game. United scored 3 goals in their 90 minutes. Doesn't matter whether they came in the majority or minority.

                  6 years, 19 days ago

Nothing else to say, you said Sheff Utd are a defensive team, I disagreed, then you tried to straw man me.

                  1. Cok3y5murf

Are we in agreement that a team with a good defense and a defensive team are both hard to break down? Then there is no need for these classifications. You said yourself that you don't think Newcastle are harder to break down than Sheffield. So if they were able to break down Sheffield, Newcastle aren't a major issue.

You dont even have any, youre just like a kid saying "and?" , "and?", "and?" ad infinitum...

How is Rashford a better pick than Abraham?

I have no interest in debating who the better pick is. That's subjective. I was merely arguing about your point that United haven't shown an ability to break down defensive teams.

Why is everyone so worried about Sterling or KDB? I would not get rid of Son at this point for any of the two.

Yes they could haul this GW but so could Maddison Mane Salah Son Grealish Rich Pulisic even Pepe 😀

City do not have Vardy Tammy or Rash assets either. Even Ings has been outperforming City assets.

You will not fall apart without City assets 😉

Ideal front line, as things stand, would have both along with Vardy, in my opinion. If I absolutely had to chose I'd go for Abraham, given he plays for a more consistent attack.

Alli, Son, Maddison, mane & Kdb (if i play with 5) . otherwise i could opt for those 3 forward and have only 4 mids (probably remove kdb)

so basically with that rank 8/11 players were doing great regularly, only captain failed haha.

Im on 28k, having a pretty great season with either captains or rest of the team.

That said, yesterday i've done KDB > Alli, Jimenez > Rashford (for free) which will probably backfire spectacularly and bring my season to a halt hahah

I have Son already also, yeah, would buy Alli anyway, when he's on a roll, he is really on a roll.
Maddison has a couple of tough fixture after norwich so probably no, im shipping him out for grealish after this week.
But either way, i would do KDB > Alli, yeah...you can always come back to him if they start going wild

Any Palace fans about? Was wondering who will be the first choice CBs once Sakho is back from his suspension. Own Tomkins in Draft atm and was wondering whether to make a switch to Cahill? There's nothing between them underlying stats wise so it comes down to who's more likely to be first choice and eye test account from someone who watches them most weeks. Would really appreciate any input.

Buying Hendo while owning Lundy already hasn’t payed off so far.
No second playing keeper, so I must play them both every week.
Keep them or try to get rid if Hendi in a week or two? They don’t look very promising about CS potential.

Personally, given their fixtures I would not waste a transfer on getting Hendo out. But if you've absolutely no better moves to make I'd upgrade to Guaita, that's the only upgrade that would make the move worth for me.

Think kdb outscored alli by 4 pts this week? I fancy a one week punt in kdb then switch to alli the week after. If he doesn’t outscore him by 4 then it’s a waste of a transfer.
