Captain Poll

Vote in the Gameweek 25 FPL captain poll

Liverpool’s victory over West Ham United brought Double Gameweek 24 to a close and we can now turn our full attention to the coming weekend’s fixtures.

The Gameweek 25 captain poll is up and running and you can cast your vote either via the sidebar or at the foot of this article.

Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) is currently the runaway leader of our poll at the time of writing, having garnered over 50% of the vote even before he scored the opening goal on Wednesday evening.

With the other teams in the top seven playing one another, Liverpool’s home fixture against Southampton has evidently caught the eye of the Fantasy community – although the resurgent Saints will provide tougher opposition than they would have when struggling for form two months ago.

The fact that Sadio Mane (£12.3m) is expected to miss Saturday’s match at Anfield may also be a contributing factor, with there being no ‘split vote’ among the two premium Liverpool midfielders.

Fresh off the back of his seventh clean sheet in eight Gameweeks, Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.6m) is third in our poll.

The Reds haven’t dropped a point on home soil this season, scoring 31 goals and conceding on only nine occasions at Anfield – both of those totals are unsurpassed among Premier League clubs.

It’s perhaps a case of form over fixture as Sergio Aguero (£12.0m) sits second in our captain poll at present, despite Manchester City being away at Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs, of course, are far from invincible and have conceded in five of the six home league matches that Jose Mourinho has overseen.

The Lilywhites indeed have kept only two clean sheets since the Special One’s appointment back in November, despite having allowed fewer big chances than any other club in that time.

With regard to Aguero’s form, the Argentinean striker has plundered eight FPL attacking returns and 45 points in his last four appearances.

Even a benching in Gameweek 24 couldn’t stop him scoring, with the in-form premium striker emerging as a second-half substitute to net the winner at Bramall Lane.

Kevin De Bruyne (£10.6m) is worth a shout in this fixture, too: he has racked up 12 attacking returns (nine of them assists) in 11 away matches this season.

No midfielder can match that total on the road in 2019/20.

Jamie Vardy (£9.9m) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.7m), both available again after injury and suspension, are also attracting a modicum of support in our captain poll.

No FPL asset has scored more away goals than Aubameyang this season and the Gunners are on the road this weekend, taking on Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Gabonese striker scored against the Clarets in the reverse fixture and bagged a 13-point haul in the corresponding match of Sunday’s game last season.

Arsenal have won their last 11 meetings with Burnley in all competitions.

Vardy has 12 attacking returns in as many appearances at the King Power Stadium, meanwhile, and Leicester are this weekend up against a Chelsea side that have kept just one clean sheet on the road in 2019/20.

I wanted to do Auba to Vardy for -4
and plan on bringing Vardy back in GW28 when Auba blanks and Leicestersnfine fixtures start.
Will lose 0.5 as i had Vardy from the start.

Guys have the Salah Mane TAA trio.

My question is do you think going with Salah TAA Robbo currently and switch between Salah Mane when ones on form is the eay to go?

My question is based on the way Liverpool seems to win. They get 1-2 goals and close the match. Ferguson used to do it and now Klopp does it in order to keep em strong until the end. So if they wont play to their max after 2 goal up... then maybe two defenders is a good idea?
On the other hand, they have been quite lucky in some matches recently not to concede.

Maybe Liverpool fans but also everybody else can give his advice 🙂

Yeah I think double defence is the way to go for the reasons you said. They don't really try to batter teams anymore. Get to 2-0 and control the game.

        Yep.
Had Mane TAA Robbo in November... and they conceded in every match. Reversed to double attack around Christmas... 5 or consecutive cleanies :DDD

Was mentioned on the previous page. Arguments on Grealish vs Traore as a transfer in this week?

Prefer Traore long term with his fixtures and Grealish blanking in 28 but think Grealish could haul against Bournemouth.

Who would you go for? Currently have two blankers in 28 (KDB and Lundstram).

    Should I wild card this?

Already on a -4 because I had just enough to get Aguero after Vardy was injured, and now he's back. Concerned Kelly and Lundstram may be benched. Maupay was the worst mistake I've made. Mane is injured, and I doubt he will have significant playing time until GW 27. I could get Jimenez, double Liverpool defense, and Traore in for Cantwell.

    Button - Ryan
    TAA - Evans - Stephens - Lundstram - Kelly
    Salah - Mane - KDB - Grealish - Cantwell
    Aguero - Ings - Maupay

Some folk are never happy! 48 points for Salah and people calling it mediocre. I TC’d him and ecstatic! It’s an average of 8 points over each of the 2 games...8 points a game would be 304 points come season end. Add in the Mane injury and the fact it was Ox etc that scored and it could not have worked out much better. Some folk are just never happy.

Seems my team is in complete tatters and considering an early WC which is not something I really would like to do but I'm dropping like people are with the coronavirus.

    Current team 0FT

    Guaita (4.0)
    TAA Aurier Soyu Rico Lundy
    Mane KDB Traore Fleck Sarr
    Kun Ings Firmino

The only players I would keep right now are:
TAA KDB Kun Ings and maybe Fleck as a 5th mid.

The others that should probably go from my current team:

Guaita - Bought him in weeks ago with their promising green run of fixtures and their shut outs at the time. Has absolutely died in the rear end not getting any cleansheets in the last seven games!

Lundy - Lost his spot? Not getting full 90s anymore. Though they have a good run coming up.

Aurier - Not too bad with a clean sheet and an assist over the last two but not really overly convincing and their run isn't ideal.

Soyu - 1 clean sheet in the last 9 for him. Goodbye.

Rico - Terrible run coming up. Rico missed a couple of games. Bugger all clean sheets but got an assist. See ya.

Mane - TC nightmare. Ruined me and now injured. Salah is on form. Great run though might need to make way for Salah now.

Traore - Beast but could push the funds elsewhere and plays better against the bigger teams

Sarr - Bought him in after showing promising signs and returns then got injured. Needs to go.

Firmino - Hard working 110% effort but streaky and seems to have more potential to be assisting assister. Holding up play to lay off or put someone else through. Was hoping he'd return the last few weeks. Liverpool do have an amazing run coming up though.

Team is a mess and not producing the points needed to even keep up with others in MLs.

Do you think it is time for me to bite the bullet and pull the trigger on this mess?

      Honestly, no.

I'm holding Mane for one gameweek. Don't want to use a FT on him only to see him come back and punish Norwich 2 weeks later. Sarr could also be back for next game.

The rest of your team isn't bad. Liverpool have great fixtures coming up, Guaita is a solid choice with good fixtures, Traore could put up points in the next few, and D are unpredictable - Rico could get 6 next match and Chelsea could blank against Leicester and you would regret it.

    Vardy DCL Haller

    Button Cantwell Söyüncü Kelly *

Fellow Mané sellers, what is your plan? I am strongly considering to get him back for gw27 if fit and also keep Salah who is looking better also. Swapping to double defence is probably the most common option, but there are decent options with cheap forwards and cheaper defenders also imo.

If I keep Salah and TAA, it is between Robbo and Mane for me. Any thoughts?
