Scoutcast Episode 344 – Manchester City and United players on the radar

Joe and Az are joined by 2014/15 Fantasy Premier League winner Simon March as they look ahead to Gameweek 2.

With Manchester City and United’s blank Gameweek 1 over, they are back in action this weekend. But which assets do we bring in and who makes way?

The Scoutcast team reveal how they plan to navigate an upcoming fixture run, with even more explosive heavy hitters vying for their attention.

Everton’s new-look midfield gets the once over from our Scoutcast trio, who are particularly impressed with the addition of 2014 World Cup hero James Rodriguez to orchestrate the Toffees’ attacking play.

He certainly passes the eye test and this latest episode also reveals the underlying statistics behind Everton’s renaissance.

Elsewhere, Chelsea options are considered, ahead of their kind fixture run from Gameweek 3. As a fan of the London side, Simon is particularly insightful about the options to bring in and how their defence may line up.

The crew look back at the lessons learned from their Gameweek 1 performance. Even though Simon shunned a certain expensive Liverpool penalty taker, he looks to have made good use of the spare cash he has available. Will Joe follow Simon’s risky strategy in Gameweek 2? He’s certainly tempted.

Next four fixtures come under scrutiny and the community’s roughest and smoothest scores get an airing.

Meanwhile, Az and Simon reveal a pair of intriguing differentials and the show finishes with the team’s transfer and captaincy plans for the second round of fixtures of 2020/21.

Yes! For a first game he was rather bright, but he dropped quite deep to spread the play.. wonder if he will play more centrally against a weaker team, as a Creative cam

Thoughts here? Likely to take a hit, but we shall see...

    1) Dele > James
    2) Dele + Havertz > Doucoure + Bruno/Rashford (itb to sort out Vinagre, etc.)

I think Rash underperformed last season and now with MID points I think he will be a very good option.

I went to bed last night exhausted after deliberating long and hard what to do with my FF team. Knowing Bruno would go up 0.1 for sure! But to my amazement he hasn’t
Was toying with getting rid of Son & wanting to bring in Bruno. Also looking at getting rid of Werner for Martial possibly.
To bring in Som for Bruno I would need to do a -4 and that would come in the shape of ASM to Hendrick most likely!

In a nutshell. Is Bruno worth the -4 over Son.
Also are Price changes and getting a higher TV more important than ever given the more choices we have this year!?

Now. From a position of strength (75 points week 1)

      Mesilier / 4m
      Mitchel, Dallas, Ayling, Roberston, Saiss
Auba*, KDB, Fernandes*, Rashford (c), bissouma
      Wood, Wilson, Brewster

1.0mil in bank to turn Auba + Bruno > Salah and Sterling Week 3. But may have to just have salah this week if he rises before Deadline.

Xg based team. 2 Man city attackers is warranted, leeds will be the best defence outside top 6, Wolves and Livepool best defence overall. Rashford will be an 11mil+ midfielder next year.

Wood is the most underpriced striker in the game. Wilson will be on pens and has decent chance to challenge his best year with a system totally built around him. Ignoring DCL since i believe everton will share points. Only player id potentially like is Hamez , but he may be a modric.

Capt rotating between Salah, KDB and sterling (Home / away targeting bottom 6) . Rashford this week the only exception.

No Everton, leeds defence will be better. Hamez i like potentially but cant have them all. And DCL is not on pens most likely (unlike woods and Wilson) and aint the 'main' guy there. What i mean is Wood and Wilson have systems built around them. I feel Everton will share points and Richa will potentially be the man - but 8mil i dont like compared to 6.5mil + pens

Chelsea will offer lots of points eventually. I have the option of jumping off Rashford to e.g Pulisic for a while depending on fixtures - or doing a double swap up get Werner + cheap 4.5mil midfielder, but given they have so many attacking options they could easily share points and be rotated occasionally - Werner the exception.

I reckon Rashford is being slept on - his underlying stats are excellent. And this is fpl so clean sheets + extra points for goals are gold.

I could be wrong , can always change if so. Werner will drift alot and looks not on pens 100% - if he was a Fpl midfielder he would for sure be in. But i will have it at times fixtures depending.

If you’ve got Dele, Werner, Davies, it will pay to wait until after tomorrow’s games and for Chelsea presser / Werner confirmation. Take the price falls on the chin.

There is ALWAYS another player to pick if you need to go down .5.

No goals or assists for Shaw last season.

Does he carry any attacking threat?

    1. @persecuted_by_mods
        3 years, 7 months ago

That won't happen this season, after restart he was unlucky not to get assists

    2. @persecuted_by_mods

Just got rid of Alli, and the quotes from Mourinho come through that seem to suggest he accepts he made the wrong substitution and that the early sub is not an issue, pointing to the example of once subbing Dier after 30 minutes yet he starts now

Yep, definitely starts now. Always pays to wait! However Spurs are hardly impressive it might not burn ya at all. And saved .1!

To be fair, I haven’t seen solid confirmation about Spurs team tomorrow anywhere.

Looks like it, still think long term I can do more with the .1 but ideally would have kept for Southampton

Whittling it down to two options

            A) Son -> Rash
            B) Roll it, plan for Robertson/ASM to Coleman/James

            McCarthy
            James, Saiss, Coleman
            KDB, Sterling, Salah, Greenwood, Podence
            Calvert, Jimenez

            Nyland, Justin, Mitchell, Davis

Like this GW3 WC or nah? Obvious downside is the lack of Pool defence but willing to take that risk. Greenwood can also be Rodriguez, just gotta wait to see if Ole starts him.

Podence is great pick If it looks he will nail starting spot.

Im probably WCing too GW3, not sure yet should I go Salahless and use money to upgrade few player.

Salah >> Hamez and DCL >> Werner/Martial also get u Trent/Digne over Coleman.

Is it a pressing move? Not a fan of using a transfer for a 4.5 swap but if you don't have a bench it looks fine

I’m not sure on his price. I just remember captaining him most weeks. He normally scored from nowhere. Carried that spurs squad all year.
