Greenwood and Wan-Bissaka benched as Man United host Palace

Mason Greenwood (£7.5m) finds himself on the bench as Manchester United start their Premier League campaign a week late.

The 18-year-old was a fixture on the right-hand side of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attacking midfield trio during Project Restart, but his place has been handed to Daniel James (£6.5m) today.

The Manchester United boss has made two surprising decisions on the right-hand side of the pitch as Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£5.5m) loses out to Timothy Fosu-Mensah (£4.5m) in defence.

Outside of that, the Red Devils line up mostly as we would expect. Anthony Martial (£9.0m) leads the line, supported by Marcus Rashford (£9.5m) on the left and Bruno Fernandes (£10.5m) in the number 10 role.

There will be plenty of eyes on those two players as Jan Sienkiewicz pointed out in the most recent captaincy article that Crystal Palace have shown some weakness from set pieces and down their right flank in open play.

Roy Hodgson’s men arrive at Old Trafford in their traditional 4-4-2 formation, Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) once again deployed out of position as a centre-forward alongside Jordan Ayew (£6.0m).

Budget defender Tyrick Mitchell (£4.0m) keeps his place in the side at left-back, although the defensive injury crisis at Palace eases slightly with the return of Mamadou Sakho (£4.5m) at centre-back.

Manchester United XI (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Shaw, Maguire, Lindelöf, Fosu-Mensah; Pogba, McTominay; Rashford, B Fernandes, D James; Martial.

Crystal Palace XI (4-4-2): Guaita; Mitchell, Sakho, Kouyaté, J Ward; Schlupp, McCarthy, McArthur, Townsend; Zaha, Ayew.

10.5 for a midfielder who was played very deep seems a waste. Relying on penalties.

If he’d got a penalty and scored it, you wouldn’t be saying this. Let’s not pretend that it’s about his positioning or Ole’s tactics, really it’s about the fact that he’s blanked for one gameweek and suddenly people are knee-jerking away from him because of that, despite taking hits and all sorts to get him in this week. It’s a joke.

He really didn't have much influence on the game though. Just like Havertz last week. Wasn't just zero points - was nowhere near points

    3. FPLShaqiri
      • 6 Years
      4 years, 2 days ago

Considered doing Havertz to Bruno this week, but decided to keep money ITB and moved to Rodriguez - very fortunate outcome for me (although maybe Havertz will come good). My thinking was that I had no idea about Man Utd's form, and Palace rarely concede a lot of goals. I was also aware that VDB *could* make Bruno go deeper - again uncertain and who knows where Bruno will play in the future. I don't think anyone anticipated Man Utd being that poor.

That performance and fixtures certainly wouldn't encourage me to consider Bruno or any other Utd players yet. Although if I owned I don't think he would be a priority to remove, despite poor performance. A lot can change in a week.

              Hey guys..
If I activate my WC now, don't I get the benefits of price rises?

Someone on Twitter said it's better to make the transfers and then activate the WC before the deadline.
              Is that really better?

I think they meant that you can have an effect on price rises by not activating your WC since WC transfers don't count for price rises.

Yes, you can keep changing your team all week until the deadline, so you can get players before their price rises.

You fill your team now with players you think will rise this week, then on the day of the deadline you pick the team you want. You need double rises to make any profit tho, so dont expect much

For instance you would shove in Mitro, Bamford, Zaha, Pereira, Rich, DCL, Klich and/or whoever else does well

Yeh no reason to move him from that position. Easily their best player and Hodgson will want to keep him sweet.

Anyone else get worse at this game every year? 9k, 14k, 37k, 47k, 120k and currently 800k this season!

I did not bring any Man Utd attacking players yet as I thought that Crystal Palace would be hard to break down, but never expected a score line of this sort !!
I brought in Shaw as I thought that they would not concede either but not even that hehe. Was considering bringing in Martial next GW but not even sure now.

              Two questions:

              1. Would you take a punt on Sterling over KDB?
              2. Is RJames best ~5.0 def?

Such a shame Roy Keane wasn't in the skysports studio. Would have loved to have seen another one of his rants after that Utd performance!
