Scoutcast Episode 351 – Ben Crabtree chats about life after winning FPL

Fantasy Premier League managers are used to having to seize opportunities when they arise in the game. The same applies for this week’s Scoutcast when Joe and FPL Family’s Sam don’t let the chance to quiz a former champion pass by.

The pair are joined by 2016/17 winner Ben Crabtree to look ahead to Gameweek 8 and find out what it is like to win a game that more seven million people play each season.

They find out what exactly happens when an FPL manager becomes champion and how it impacts on their life. Would Ben put the achievement on his CV? Which Premier League star did he meet when he claimed his VIP trip to see his team Everton? How does he stay motivated to continue playing? These and many more questions are answered during the show.

Meanwhile, Joe, Ben and Sam, who is filling in for the holidaying Az, also look ahead to Gameweek 8’s tough decisions. Will this be the last moment in the sun for Tottenham Hotspur assets, before their tricky fixture run starts?

While the games get harder for Spurs, the Season Ticker looks far better for West Ham United and Chelsea. Our Scoutcast trio assess which players to target from these other London sides.

Elsewhere, there are all the usual features as they look back on their Gameweek 7, reveal their transfer and captaincy plans and frisk the next four fixtures.

After Karam finally picked a differential that scored the Scoutcast points last time out, Ben takes his turn this week to select a low-owned gem. Has the tide finally turned for our selections? Given Ben’s exceptional pedigree in the game, we certainly hope so.

Any thoughts? Exact funds for Ings + Pulisic to Werner + Zaha (-4).

Will wait on any concrete comments ref Pulisic before deadline.

Agree - I think Ings & Pulisic are fragile and arn't for the long term.
I'm disappointed as an Ings owner.

Ings ain't fragile, lol. Not injury-prone like Pulisic who is 6 years younger!

    Hi all,

What Do u all feel about bellerin?

Thinking of double up defence with tierney.
Looks organised, and in Good control, Good fixture

    Robertson > bellerin
    Mitrovic > Wilson

    Team now
    Mccarty
AWB - reguilon - tierney - Robertson (Mitchell)
Son - salah - James (mcginn, podence)
    DCL - Kane - mitrovic

    Whats your opinion?

    Thanks !

    McCarthy
    TAA Robbo Kilman
    Salah Son Podence Soucek
    Kane Werner DCL
    (4.0 Shaw Bissouma Ferguson)
    0.0ITB 2FT

    A) TAA Shaw Podence -> Chilwell Coufal Grealish (-4, exact funds)

    B) Robbo, Shaw > Chilwell, Coufal (then could do the Grealish move next week)

    C) Just Robbo -> Chilwell, save FT

    1. BeWater

B looks good. C is a good idea too as you can hold the extra transfer over the international break.

I think Reece James might be replaced by Dave Azpilicueta at the weekend v Sheff U, especially if the former plays the full 90. Should I be worried?

If Reece plays the full 90, maybe. However he's young & won't play much in the IB break. Tough sell as SHU is a CH fixture.

If you have him you have to play him or sell him. Ive got 1,8,6 last two games so even with the cameo an average of 5 will do. Have a decent sub

I think Frank has figured it out...

4-3-3 with Kante in the ditch with two #8s and a front 3.

Their back 4 is very solid. They control the midfield with Kante, Mount, Havertz. They look good. A whole lot better than ManUtd that's for sure.

People gave Lampard a lot of stick for switching it up in the first few week, but by GW6/7 we've trailed and mostly settled on out best-performing formation. Obvious or not, now we know what to expect in the other formations too.

Should be dependant on the opposition. Against weaker opposition:

      Mendy
      Azpi Silva Zouma Chilwell
      Jorginho Kante Havertz
      Ziyech Werner Pulisic

Against stronger opposition drop Jorginho for Kovacic. Against really weak opposition you drop Jorginho for Mount or Azpi for James. It is very subtle changes but make significant differences between the balance between attack and defence.
