The triple-ups I am considering for Blank Gameweek 18 Free Hit squad

Blank Gameweek 18 is just around the corner, and I wanted to use this opportunity to present some picks I feel should be part of your squad if you are opting to use the Free Hit.

At the time of writing, there was a lot of uncertainty looming around Spurs so, for the purpose of this piece I steered clear of the two clubs.

After all, the best way to maximise a Free Hit squad is to base as much as you can on things you are certain about.

    Make it simple:
    A. De Gea - Reguilon
    B. Lloris - Maguire

B with AWB. More bonus for AWB, more saves for Lloris.

A all day long. Reguilon has way more upside than Maguire.

Hi chaps, keeper combo is Martinez/Forster with tripple villa and DCL up front. Can't decide on the moves to make:

    A) Konsa -> Stones (have Cancelo)
    B) Konsa, Forster -> Stones, DDG (-4)
    C) Konsa, DCL -> Stones, Wilson (-4)
    D) Konsa, Forster, DCL -> Stones, DDG, Wilson (-8)

Currently leaning towards B or C, if B then probably bring in Antonio/Adams next week

B with Antonio/Adams next week is also what I'd do. DDG and Stones have both BGW and DGW.

Yep, leaning towards it. Never like to hit on a defender/keeper but imo the BGW/DGW situation warrants it + fancy Antonio/Adams to outscore Wilson over the 2 gw

I agree. Adams is g2g, he missed the game in PL due to a protocol and that was a week ago, he is ready now. But be aware of Soton vs Shrewsbury. Soton might not have a double.

    Darlow
    Cancelo Dias Tierney
    KDB Bruno Son Saka
    Kane Laca Wilson
    (4.0 Saiss Mitchell Burke)

0.0 ITB, playing the Free Hit

    1) Any big changes to be made? No Spurs or Man Utd defence
    2) Do I need a second playing goalkeeper? Newcastle is the first game after the deadline, you'd think that we would know if Darlow was playing 90 minutes before kick off.
    3) Is the bench okay? I want to make sure I have at least 11 playing, but don't want to spend an awful lot on the bench for a FH.

      Avoiding Newcastle keepers.

I personally think Dubravka will start. He was Newcastle's player of the year last season. It's very similar to Arsenal with Leno and Martinez.

I'm sure Bruce had said the other week that Darlow was the number 1 now as he was playing too well to drop. I hadn't actually realised that Dubravka played the other night, probably too much of a risk this week on a FH, cheers.

I'm left with 4.4 for a Saiss replacement if I go Lloris - Kilman, Robinson, White? Kilman probably has highest clean sheet potential but also most likely to be benched.

    3 x City
    3 x Spurs
    2/3 x United
    2/3 x Arsenal

This seems like the best setup for those using FH.

Not sure if I can justify getting any other players from SHU vs NEW or WOL vs EVE.
Both those games could go either way and look like low scoring games.

If the FA Cup can't ensure lower league clubs can't follow the rules, then suspend the Cup but keep the PL going. At these early rounds the cup can't be called elite sport.

Most of these Tory MP's don't know their "a" from their "e" when it comes to Football.

The magnificent 6 are: Holding, Stones, Dier, Bruno, KBD, Son. (plus Brewster - so the not so magnificent 7)

I think the question still stands though. Is this one chip worth these 5 players? Of course they could blank, but that can happen any time to any player

I'm just think out loud here. I would think a lot of people are in the same boat - our teams are very similar.

Free transfer already done (Matip to Stones) so in my mind at least it's either FH or hold as is.

Might keep FH for future emergencies/ DGW is my current thinking

    4. HashAttack

Couple of hits may be better - would definitely get Rashford as he is good for 18,19 and 20

Problem with the FH is that you would generally just match everyone else - I prefer to keep the chip and hope that Kane has a quiet match

They had improved, but I think you need to take into account that they have now been disrupting by a big outbreak of coronavirus.

We still don't know who from the first choice XI has/had it but the rumours include the likes of Anguissa & Areola who are fairly big deals if they miss out.

Also, those not on FH likely have Kane/Son anyway. If they bang and you don't have them, you're hardly taking the best advantage you can over those players.

Good points raised, cheers. Didn't realise Anguissa was out, he is pretty integral to them imo.

Will probably end up going with one of the two. Accept the point around not taking advantage of the FH, but you could argue that you're not doing that anyway if you have all the same players as non-FHers.

Which combo you prefer on a free hit?
    A) Saka, Holding, Ramsdale
    B) Smith Rowe, Dier, Leno

I would have thought 103.8 was a decent enough Team Value to afford more than one sub but apparently not.

Thoughts on this? Very template I imagine.

    Leno
    Stones - Cancelo - Dier
    Bruno - Rashford - KDB - Son - Saka
    Kane - Wilson

    Bench - Mitchell

Martinez -> DDG good move? Is Martinez COVID +? He may miss Everton game too?

Oh no, Leeds v Southampton could be postponed to make way for a rearranged Southampton v Shrewsbury FA Cup tie: https://twitter.com/TeleFootball/status/1348688718161268737

If this is confirmed, that could be my BB19 plan destroyed.

I was already leaning off the BB in 19, so this would honestly help decide this for me 🙂

Fair enough. A more positive outlook - like me and having to go for FH this week after today's changes!

Premier League being active in this to try and avoid Shrewsbury getting kicked out of the competition. Moving Leeds game easier than Leicester v Southampton on Saturday as Leeds not in Europe and now out of FA Cup. Also gives Shrewsbury more time to get their players fit.

Take care of people around you!!
In December 1937, a match between Chelsea and Charlton football clubs at the Stamford Bridge stadium London was stopped in the 60th minute due to heavy fog. Charlton's legendary goal keeper Sam Bartram remained unaware and kept on guarding the goal 15 minutes after the game had stopped, as he did not hear the referee's whistle because of the crowd behind his goal post.
He stood there with his arms out stretched and completely focused, looking forward so as not to be surprised by the opponent's shots. Fifteen minutes later, when the stadium police approached him and informed him that the match had been abandoned, Sam Bartram said these famous words with great sorrow, *"How sad that my friends forgot me when I was guarding their goal post."*
Bartram thought his team was attacking and not allowing the opposing team to get close to the goal post.
*There are so many players in the field of life whose goal post one defends with enthusiasm and support, but when the situation becomes like a wave of fog, they walk out of the field and leave us alone.*
*Always pay attention to the goal keepers of your lives. Never abandon the one guarding your goal post.*
