    Good morning FFS community.

A quick question if I may... I have Buendia and Barnes in my starting XI for GW2.

Is that combo good enough to hold the FT or should I upgrade one of them to Grealish/Greenwood (have 1m itb).

I think you can save a FT. Grealish or Greenwood could still score more points naturally

Bruno really impressed me. But the home/away thing seems to be a thing again this season. Plus its the first game at a full Anfield, look how well United did last week.

      Its tough!

Keep reading about Gundogan being a rotation risk. He’s a fitness risk this week but is one of the most nailed options in Pep’s midfield.

Fernandinho is incredible but 36 now and was exposed trying to anchor the midfield on his own vs Spurs. That means Pep could play Rodri alongside him which would put pressure on Gundogan’s starting spot, but that would be a very cautious approach to Norwich given Pep started the Champions League final without a recognised CDM.

IF Gundogan is fine, I think it’s much more likely we see him start alongside Rodri. That leaves one remaining spot in the central midfield trio, between Grealish and KdB. Either of whom could also be used as a false 9, although I think Sterling is better suited to that with Grealish moving out to the left wing.

Of course, it’s mad to try and predict Pep, particularly after two losses. I’ll conveniently forget about Bernardo Silva too…

      • 8 Years

the issue is, Gundogan starting alongside Rodri/Fernandinho is much less effective than when there is no KDB and he plays more advance.

I’m not sure how true that is. Granted, there was a period when Gundogan was playing false 9 himself with KdB out. But generally, when City have periods of sustained pressure, KdB usually has licence to roam and that allows Gundogan to stay central and arrive in the box.

Absolutely delighted with Odegaard and Ramsdale!!

They're actually better than people think or believe and both improve us straightaway. We're talking about smart long-term signings and very talented players. Rebuilding the team takes time and patience, this is another step in the right direction.

Step 1: Sell a top quality goalkeeper.
Step 2: Sign a much worse goalkeeper for more money than you sold the original keeper for less than a year later.

Planning is good but a little early to know for sure. You could have injury issues and there's the quarantine issues. If Salah is out of GW4 Jota would be an excellent option.

        Bachmann (Foster)
        TAA Tsimikas Shaw (Ayling Amartey)
        Salah Bruno Mahrez Benrahma Buendia
        Ings Antonio (Obafemi)

I am saving this week but trying to think a bit ahead on what to do GW3 with 2 FTs assuming no injuries.
Really tempted to only use 1 FT in GW3 to move Ings to Bamford (burnley) instead of the I assume more popular downgrade and Mahrez > Son (c). This would mean I will have 2 FTs in GW4 and be able to also move Buendia (Sarr looks very good) and sort out Tsimikas (if needed). Thoughts?

With KDB already fit, is it really worth keeping Gundo?

I don't want to keep FT just for the sake of keeping it. What I mean here, I'm just trying to be objective. If he is about playing deeper or not playing at all, I'd rather use the FT.

Thoughts? Would you say it is more risky keeping him or getting Greenwood in his place?

I'd have Digne first sub. There was a clear tactic v SOU to get as many crosses in to DCL as possible from the wings. I'd have Amartey second sub too. LEI are quite good on their travels.

I currently have Digne, thinking about swapping him this week to Reglion, this frees up another 0.5, which will be useful soon to upgrade Tsimi to Tierney for GW4. Then roll the FT in GW3 as i already have Son.

Just want to check that this is a hold for this GW? Thought about Barnes > Benrahma but think it's a bit jerky.

        Sanchez
        Trent - Tsim - Shaw
        Salah (c) - Bruno - Grealish - Barnes - Buendia
        Ings - Antonio

Bench: Steele - Ayling - Amartey - Obafemi

Is Greenwood a short term or long term Investment? If Cavani is fit, will he start ahead of Greenwood? Will Greenwood get pushed out wide to accommodate him? Far too much uncertainty for me

The amount of points you have.

This is true whenever you join, unless the league only counts points from GW X onwards, but that would be true for everyone anyway

Morning all, a different question than the usual Bruno vs Salah capt...
I tried to be clever and double up on Mane and Salah to attack Norwich obviously at the stupid expense of Bruno.
        But do I now...
        1) Swallow my pride and just get Bruno in for Mane
        2) Leave it with Mane and Salah for this GW
        3) Possibly my fav, attack Norwich again and try to have a differential and get KDB in for Mane and possibly even captain him?!?!?....
        Cheers all

I would definitely keep Mane if I were in this situation:

          1. In reality, Mane, Bruno and KDB are all just as likely to haul as each other in their respective fixtures. It's a glorified punt trying to pick which one will actually get the highest score.

          2. While they all have roughly the same odds of hauling, the cost isn't the same. Mane will cost you nothing while Bruno and KDB will cost you a transfer.

          3. In general, it's never a good idea in FPL to make transfers earlier than you need to. With every day that passes you get new information, situations change, and so on.

Throw all that together and the logical choice is to stick with Mane - same odds, cheaper cost, greater future flexibility to respond to problems.

Really don't like option 3 - I would leave with Mané for this week (I assume you have the money to still get Bruno next week if necessary). Mané has a good record against Burnley, certainly better than Mo, and in GW2 last year he demolished Chelsea after Mo went off against Leeds in GW1 so maybe it could work. Buys you another week until we find out what is going on re international quarantine, which could ensnare Mo.

A lot of these are also the same ones that tell everyone else to not make any transfers on GW1 too. I can get it with Gundo I guess, been there before where I expect a player to be out, make plans, begin to like them, and then when I realise I could just leave it as is I do the contingency plan anyway. I just don't get the stigma of sorts of doing a transfer this week if you think it's a sensible move (ignoring rage/rash changes here of course).

Horrific, had an awful week that week. With Mourinho then, Dean Smith lying about Grealish every 3 days for nearly 2 months (clearly miffed about the FPL leak), Pep and Nuno always being vague, Solskjaer bsing about Pogba (and etc.) it's hard to be sure from what's said in pressers often these days.

Yeah, there were several times last year we were punished for reading too much into managers’ comments. Sometimes pays just to roll with your team and be less active in making transfers.

They played with two attacking 8s for the second half of the season. So Gundo played as the left side 8 and got in those attacking areas.

Plus it’s against Norwich, City will have 70% of the possession and half 8 players in and around the box most of the game.

Agree. I think most people would predict City score at least 2 so I’d be nervous not having a ticket in the raffle.

I can understand the move to Greenwood. Southampton in arguably worse shape than Norwich.

A 5-0 would surprise no one. I like Greenwood just worry about Martial possibly getting starts sooner rather than later.

Greenwood almost as good as any sub 10 mil for next 3-4 GWs.

It was gonna be Gundo to Greenwood if he was ruled out.

I started the season with Greenwood so don’t have that temptation. If I’d had a spare Man Utd slot it would’ve been a real test of my patience, instead I’ve been considering Benrahma, Sarr and Bailey.

Respect for waiting for news on Gundogan. Hope you’re rewarded at the weekend!
