The first quarter final of Euro 2012 is less than an hour away from kick-off and, as Fantasy managers tinker with their last-minute transfer plans, we’ve rolled out the Dugout Discussion ahead of Portugal ‘s showdown with Czech Republic at 7.45pm.

This evening’s team news is in and is as follows:

Paulo Bento names the same XI that started all three of the group games. Cristiano Ronaldo has an incredible 82% of the votes in the Captain Poll after his brace against Holland in the previous match, with Nani a distant second with 8%. Can they maintain their strong attacking form or will the Czechs scupper the Fantasy plans of many and steal an unlikely victory?

For the Czech Republic, Michal Kadlec makes just one change to the starting XI that saw off Poland last time out. Tomas Rosicky has failed to recover sufficiently from an Achilles problem, allowing Vladimir Darida a role “in the hole”, with Petr Jiracek and Vaclav Pilar carrying the goal threat on either side in Kadlec’s favoured 4-2-3-1.

Portugal XI: Patricio; Pereira, Pepe, Alves, Coentrao; Veloso, Moutinho, Meireles; Nani, Postiga, Ronaldo

Czech Republic XI: Cech; Gebre Selassie, Kadlec, Sivok, Limbersky; Hubschman, Plasil; Jiracek, Darida, Pilar; Baros.

This is why I didn't have Ronaldo, perhaps stupidly, because so many people have him you won't actually gain points on opponents. Similar with Gomez. The team that has the most points this match day will have quite a few differentials IMO

I understand where you're coming from in that the only way you can make some serious ground is with differentials.

But: 1 match down, 1 goalscorer and you didn't have him when many do- "You won't actually gain points on opponents" true but that's better than a loss.

I had Nani, it thought he had decent chances to score/assist

it is not about differentials, it is about who will score the most pts.

Day 2: Ozil or Gomez (c)
    Day 3: Iniesta (c)
    Day 4: Pirlo (c)

Think about it. Do you think One of Gomez, iniesta, Pirlo will score more than 6 points?

I think it's more likely a Greek defender will score as their only chance is via a set piece IMO

Ok guys here's the situation... almost everyone in my private league has Gomez and will captain him.

I currently sit in second place just 3 points behind the person in first who like me has Gomez, Ozil, Hummels and Neuer to play tomorrow.

If I gamble on Ozil and it pays off I will be top as I'm sure he's captaining Gomez but if it doesn't I risk slipping down the league.

Looking at the rest of his team it's not too strong so do you think I should just play it safe and bide my time?

In the case of tied points, tiebreaker #1 seems to be the amount of total transfers. Since I fiddled around a lot before the quarters (50+ transfers between group stage 3 and QF), I lost more than 700 places in the total competition rank.

Does anyone know how you make a wildcard transfer at the QF stage?
