The revised fixture list for Double Gameweek 22 was announced by the Premier League on Thursday morning, with eight top-flight sides playing twice.

Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley, Chelsea, Leicester City, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Watford are the clubs who have two fixtures in the upcoming Gameweek.

There is a caveat: this proposed schedule is subject to change should any FA Cup third-round matches involving these teams or their second Double Gameweek 22 opponents be postponed this weekend. In the event of that happening, the outstanding cup ties would be played in this free midweek instead.

GAMEWEEK 22 DOUBLES

  • Brentford: Liverpool (a), Man Utd (h)
  • Brighton: Crystal Palace (h), Chelsea (h)
  • Burnley: Leicester (h), Watford (h)
  • Chelsea: Manchester City (a), Brighton (a)
  • Leicester: Burnley (a), Spurs (h)
  • Man Utd: Aston Villa (a), Brentford (a)
  • Spurs: Arsenal (h), Leicester (a)
  • Watford: Newcastle (a), Burnley (a)

There is a real mixed bag of ‘doubles’ here, with Brentford’s two games unappealing and Chelsea and Spurs having far from straightforward tests.

The best pairings are arguably those of Watford and Burnley, although which players from these two clubs beyond Emmanuel Dennis (£6.1m) and/or Joshua King (£5.8m) represent attractive targets is another question.

Liverpool, West Ham United and even Everton, whose players some of us would have loaded up on ahead of Double Gameweek 21, have very decent ‘single’ Gameweeks, meanwhile, so as ever a balancing act would seem to be the way to go.

DATES AND TIMES OF THE ADDITIONAL FIXTURES

Tuesday 18 January

19:30 Burnley v Watford
20:00 Brighton v Chelsea

Wednesday 19 January

19:30 Leicester v Spurs
20:00 Brentford v Man Utd

Initial thoughts is taking a - 4. Salah to Maddison is likely.

The hit would be Watkins to Dennis or Livramento/Dawson to Davies. Watkins/Villa have favourable fixtures from 23.

    Foster
    Cancelo TAA Alonso
    Jota Son Bowen Gray Salah

Hmm, I prefer Dennis to Davies in isolation but I would prefer to bench Cancelo to Gray/Bowen (!) I think. Probably Davies/Reguilon would be the more sensible move given you already have King.

I don't think any DGW defender is a better option than Dennis. Reguilon is a rotation risk with Sessegnon so not going there. Might not to be worth taking a hit for a DGW def and benching one of the SGW players.

I think Foden could do well this week so it’s a tough one. Broja to Dennis for sure though (I’m doing the same but for King. Sold Dennis due to AFCON and can’t buy him back now!)

Are there really people in a position to BB? I've had the bare 11 every week for ages and even at that I've been taking hits every week for the last 4/5 weeks just to field said 11, often only having 9 or 10.

Hats off and more power to youse lads. More power to youse.

      Yeah I think so

My current bench is tierny, livra Gallagher with 2 ft to get Maddison and another doubler, rest of the team all has a plum single week (West Ham and Everton, Liverpool) or good enough fixture to bench boost

Not a great double game week.
Don't think there are 11 players I would want to justify a free hit.

    With a -4 of Livra + Gray > Maddison + Veltman I get:

    DDG
    TAA Emerson Alonso Veltman
    Son Jota Bowen Maddison
    Kane King
    (Ramsdale Bernardo Cancelo Antonio)

BB seems good here assuming everything goes according to plan and COVID doesn't screw everything up. Not sure if that BB makes sense but it's a lot of value to have sitting on the bench.

Would you BB this? I can forgo Livra > Veltman -4 and play Antonio instead while saving the BB.

I would not take a -4 if it means benching Antonio vs Leeds.

No I would definitely not do the -4 if it meant benching Antonio.

The -4 would be to BB only.

Interesting mate. I'm not averse to your suggestion but personally i'll be saving the BB for a "wildcard the previous week situation". Covid should be well settled by April/May, perhaps even to herd immunity levels, so less risk of postponements. Personal preference only though so all the best with whatever your decision is.

    4. Catastrophe

Interesting - very similar situation here. I'm edging towards saving BB just due to the postponements and general uncertainty which hopefully will quieten down later in the season. Your likely points (totally estimated!) BB value (Ramsdale - 2?), Bernardo (2-7?), Cancelo (2-7?) and Veltman (2-8?) with a -4 doesn't seem high enough. and that's assuming no postponement shenanigans.

    B) is Maddison worth another -4?

Think free hit will be much better in a big blank game week.

If so is it worth -8 to do:

Salah, bilva, Antonio > Son, Trossard, CR7

  18. Catastrophe
    • 15 Years

Advice greatly appreciated - 1FT and 1.8 ITB. 6 DGWers and 5 strong SGWers.

    DDG*
    Reguilon*, Dier*, TAA
    Son*, Jota, Gray, Bowen
    Ronaldo*, Dennis*, Antonio

    (Steer, Keane, Cancelo, Saka)

    A) no FH or BB. Saka -> Maddison* and bench Gray
    B) FH with more DGWers (King, Chelsea, Leicester etc.)
    C) BB - probably Steer & Saka -> Sanchez & Maddison (-4) which would mean BB of - Sanchez*, Gray, Cancelo, Keane

    Tempted by a boring A!

I was considering the same moves but Grey is fine as 5th mid, Everton have good fixture run and future doubles so I might keep.

Antonio is against any inspired Leeds with Lorente et al back & they are very tasty fixtures for Watford. Antonio is massively owned and if you can pick smartly in outscoring him then happy days.

That said, West Ham are lethal going forwards and I’m happy to play him this week. I own king so just going to do foden - Maddison, I’ll have 8 DGW + TAA, Jota, Bowen, Antonio.

He is playing Watford, perhaps he can double that total in one game? 😉

All defences involved should concede in all their matches

      Broja and Dalot rotate

That's a no from me. Prep for BB36

He's available for GW21, so should be available for GW22

      Don't make transfers yet though

Have to make -8 to bring Ronaldo and Son in, and also choose to bench either Gray or Foden. Smh how the things have fallen into place against me with keeping the Salah in the blank.
