Joe and Andy help Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prepare for Gameweek 23 and beyond.

In the fixture chaos and postponements caused by Covid, it is getting increasingly difficult to keep track of how many matches are left to re-arrange and plan for the Double Gameweeks to come.

In this latest episode of the Scoutcast, Joe and Andy look at teams with the most fixtures to rearrange and assess their best assets to bring in during the course of the campaign.

This starts with Burnley’s staggering five matches to rebook, as they move down their list and finish off with those with just one encounter to make a new date for.

Teams with the most favourable encounters to come are assessed and those who have largely escaped the messy festive schedule are also looked at. Too often FPL managers can forget stellar single Gameweek players in the excitement of a Double Gameweek.

Among the teams with fixtures to rearrange are Aston Villa. Joe and Andy also look at the new signings for a handful of teams this January so far, with a particular focus on Steven Gerrard’s latest acquisitions.

Elsewhere, all the regular features are covered, from fixture frisking to quick-fire questions from the Live Chat crew.

They also catch up with the latest travails of the community team they are managing on behalf of a top manager.

Joe and Andy also reveal their Gameweek 23 plans and the hope that finally they can plan for the rest of the campaign and stop taking last-minute hits before another deadline.

Seb was absent from this latest episode due to family commitments but should be back soon.

This week’s live show took place on Tuesday 18 January during the Brighton and Chelsea match, nearing the tail-end of Gameweek 22. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel to get notified of future live episodes. It is also available as a podcast.

Didn't Ralfs comments and the way they've behaved with Ronaldo previously indicate he could have had minutes vs Villa however it was better to rest him and protect him.

I think he will either start vs Brentford or continue in the manner above and not travel at all.

Sorry mate I was going off the Manchester Evening News piece last night, I hadn't see The S*n's piece this morning stating the squad arrived in London without him. I'm as confused as you are.

    Sa Foster
Trent Robertson Cancelo Digne (Ait Nouri)
Fernandes (PH) Bowen Raphinha KDB (Coutinho/Cornet)
    Dennis Watkins (Broja)

Plan is Coutinho if a possible dbl otherwise I’m going with Cornet and just leave on the bench till he’s back

    Thoughts on my WC side??

That is pretty much the team i would WC if i was doing it now. With exception of Digne. I think he brings unnecessary drama to the team, so i wouldnt pick him. Ive doubts about Watkins too. I think selecting Coutinho covers him off and allows another striker to come in. Possibly Daka if he gets a run in the Leic side.

I know it’s hard to say, I’m reasonably happy with my team so far but could completely change my team to set me up for the next few weeks with a wildcard. Is it worth doing it or leaving it for a while until I really need it.

    My team for reference is
    Foster (Fab)
    Cash Cancelo TAA Alonso (Lamptey)
    Bowen Jota Maddison Gundogan (ESR)
    King Ronaldo (Antonio)

Who are you looking to bring in? Assume maybe Alonso, Gundogan, Antonio, Fabianski out? Maybe King & Maddison too? Seems on the edge of WC territory but maybe not quite necessary? For instance, if I WC this week I'd be making 11 changes

I think what's really encouraging is that without Ronaldo, United still didn't play well and still managed to let slip a 2-0 lead. I would have totally understood a "don't change a winning team" excuse for dropping Ronaldo but Ragnick doesn't have that luxury now.

Exactly, so they may as well play him if he wants to play. At least with him on the pitch they have a finisher who, rightly or wrongly, will be seen as someone who occupies defenders. I'm a Ronaldo capper so this is probably an extreme case of confirmation bias and I can't wait to get rid, but we are where we are...

Saw a good thread on city players for the next few fixtures. it ranked city players in order of how they think the city players will do. Do you agree with this?

    1st Cancelo
    2nd Laporte
    3rd Foden

ive got Foden and Cancelo. I really want a third city player. Was looking at Sterling/KDB but Laporte might be the best option

          • 13 Years

I have those two, too. I think with the threat of postponements a triple up on any one team is a risk.

Then you have to think about players with multiple dgws. Does Laporte x8 games outscore, for example, Lowton x 13 games? I think it’s pretty close… Laporte might score 40pts (6CSs), which would mean Burnley would need 4 CSS in 13 games to equal his score.

Good point about the postponements and tripling up.
In your example, I've got zero faith in Burnley assets. I might get Pope/Lowton as a short term punt in a decent dgw but not interested in holding onto Lowton

So you'd go kdb over Laporte if you had the other 2. I assume you'd feel comfortable captaining him? Not worried about him getting a rest? Theres little evidence to suggest he will get rested in the next 3 at least

Yes, that would be the play…..depending on DGWs of course but KDB is a prime captain candidate for the SGWs

Not really... I think they'll comfortably score around 9 in the next 3 so presumably the BPS will go to attackers? I would guess:
      1. Sterling
      2. KDB
      3. Cancelo
Although of course the pts could just he shared around with Foden, Grealish, Mahrez, Bernardo etc

That's the order I would have. Laporte at his price is well worth a place. Especially considering I've had Dalot and James stinking up my team.

KDB and Sterling are just too expensive when you have the likes of Raphinha, Jota, Bowen, Martinelli and Gallagher.

I've got Cancelo, KDB and Bilva.

I actually think Bilva might be quite a good safe bet for the next couple of fixtures personally, as much as I want to shift him, I think i'll keep for another week at least. KDB has to get in that squad for me, but again.. we never know with pep.

Any chance one of Reguilon, Kane or Maddison not playing today?
Need desperately my Cancelo's 11pts on bench.

I have a feeling that Burnley are going to have a shocker if their game actually goes ahead, so I'm quietly entertaining the slightly leftfield idea of Martinelli. Any (starting) City player could work, Raphinha v NEW an option, maybe Watkins if DGW confirmed

Foden/ Cancelo or Raphinha are the ones I'm considering. DGW would change that

Is this worthy of a WC?

    Ramsdale / Bachman
TAA Cancelo Alonso / Coufal Livramento
Jota Maddison Bowen Martinelli / Mount
    Ronaldo Watkins Dennis

To something like the below (money itb for Salah):

    Sa/Ramsdale
TAA Dias Cancelo Digne / Lowton
KDB Bruno Bowen Raph / Coutinho
    Watkins Dennis / Broja

I wouldnt WC that squad. Mount to Foden, and Coufal/Livra to Digne would be a decent improvement

Hmmm thanks, I could actually get KDB in for Mount and then Alonso/Liv to Digne. Might have to get rid of Alonso though, makes me sad seeing him in my team, surviving week after week due to injuries or prospect of a dgw (2 point haul!)

i've got 2 Fts and feel spoilt for choice this week. Raph is one im considering. Is Bamford going to be available for that game?

      1. Kodap

As a Leeds fan, I wouldn't put Bamford anywhere near the team at the moment. Raph is the only player I'd want, Harrison maybe but that Hatty is a one-off that does not happen very often haha.

Bamford been out for months and will definitely not get straight back into the team, more likely to play Rodrigo up top once he's back to full fitness to start with.

I was thinking more that Bamford will improve Leeds and give Raph more assist threat/ space

Yeah he absolutely will, but not convinced he's going to be back anytime soon. I may be wrong but he definitely won't just slot straight back in.

Pending DGW announcement, he is my replacement for Gray.

From the last presser, it sounds like he could be available. I think Raphinha could be still on pens scoring 3/3 (I think). Bamford mentioned previously they will only switch pen takers when someone misses

Thinking of WCing this week, too many players in for hits haven't paid off. So..

    Foster > Bachmann
    Dias > Digne
    Keane > Ait Nouri
    Livra > Lowton
    Trossard > KDB
    Son > Bruno
    Brownhill > Raphinna
    Ronaldo > Dennis
    Antonio > Broja

    DDG
    TAA Cancelo Digne
    KDB Raphinna Bowen Jota Bruno
    Watkins Dennis
    Bachmann Broja Ait Nouri Lowton

££ itb for Bruno > Salah

Doesn’t seem very likely that a DGW will be announced before the deadline.

    Are you

    A) not getting any DGWers
    B) Getting 1 for FH
    C) gambling on DGW and taking a hit

      1. sirmorbach

After. I can explain: I had two free transfers and I couldn't stand Gray in my team, so I couldn't resist it. It was a knee-jerk reaction and shouldn't have done, but there you go

  23. Tic Tacs
    • 5 Years

Sometimes it's frustrating having a strong bench, I've got Raphinha and Ramsey there with 18 pts between them and the 2 players I got in for a -4 (Jota and MacAllister) did not deliver to the same level. But if I hadn't made the transfers then my bench would have 3 non-playing guys, although all my 11 look likely to play so would've made no difference. So, is it more counter-productive to make changes rather than trust the players you already have?
