We’re starting to get a better picture of the situation in Gameweeks 27 and 30 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) after the latest FA Cup results and draw.

GAMEWEEK 30

Three scheduled Premier League fixtures will definitely go ahead in Blank Gameweek 30: Arsenal v Aston Villa, Leicester City v Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers v Leeds United.

As many as seven league matches could be postponed because of the clash with the FA Cup quarter-finals, however, after the fifth-round draw kept apart many of the top-flight teams.

Gameweek 30 MatchCurrent statusGame will go ahead if…

*Covid/weather permitting

The full Blank Gameweek 30 picture will be known ahead of Gameweek 28.

GAMEWEEK 27

After the weekend’s cup results, a maximum of three matches could potentially be added to Gameweek 27 to make it a ‘double’ (or a ‘single’ for Leicester).

Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool will now definitely blank in Gameweek 27.

The list of outstanding fixtures that could fall here are:

  • Burnley v Leicester City
  • Leeds United v Aston Villa
  • Aston Villa v Burnley
  • Wolves v Watford

Only Leeds v Aston Villa of that foursome was scheduled to be televised (on Amazon), so it could be that this fixture is saved for a later date to avoid a clash with the FA Cup matches on TV.

The most urgent game that needs rescheduling is Burnley v Leicester, with the Foxes having four outstanding fixtures but otherwise having no free midweeks until Gameweek 33 *if* they continue to progress in Europe.

Leicester’s elimination does, at least, majorly lower the possibility of a Triple Gameweek for Brendan Rodgers’ side, as they should have enough free windows to fulfill their fixtures.

    De Gea (Foster)
    Rudiger, TAA, Silva, Cancelo
    Mount, Jota, Smith Rowe
    Antonio, Dennis, King
    (Sanchez, Benrahma, Salah)

I still feel non the wiser.

Will Salah be rested after the recent long games, plus to give him time to get over the disappointment by immersing himself in all things Liverpool, or will he be desperate to play to put it all behind him?

I feel more likely the first but the second wouldn't be a surprise, and if he does play he would surely go all out to prove himself.

Regardless of the psychological aspect, I really don’t think he’ll start after so many 120 minute games on the bounce. GW25 feels like more of an unknown at this stage

Klopp did watch the match. Both Salah and Mane started to lose possession. No matter how physical they both are, the number of minutes they have played was easy to see even for me. They both are likely to start dgw 25 from bench. But this is only my opinion or educated guess. Yet as fpl managers, we have to make these "bets" and try to be more clever than others.

Week is small time to recover both mentally and physically, I agree. Other Liverpool players have had their winter break. Afcon players need it too.

I think it would be rough to play him after that many minutes and that level of disappointment. It doesn't matter how much of a machine he is fitness wise or how much of a competitor he is, the right thing to do is surely give him a week off. I think Klopp will do this even if Salah is pushing to play. Klopp will make the right call.

Got risky idea to go Son over Salah, could backfire
    spectacularly.

Not using FH GW27 and Son plays

            Okay thanks bro.

            Current WC;

            DDG - Steer
            TAA - Robertson - Cancelo - Laporte - Digne
            Fernandes - KDB - Bowen - Elanga - Ramsey
            Kane - Edouard - Richardson

Enough ITB for Bruno > Salah

            Alternative;

            DDG - Steer
TAA - Robertson - Cancelo - Ait Nouri - Digne
            Fernandes - KDB - Bowen - Mahrez - Ramsey
            Kane - Dobbin - Richardson

Enough ITB for KDB > Salah

I like both are you looking at bb in 26? If I was pushed I like the alternative it has more of an upswing. Only problem you seem to have is you haven’t many doublers for 26. I’ll send you on mine see what you think. Might need to sneak in Arsenal somewhere maybe Martinelli they’ve a double and a fixture swing after 28

Wk 26 Kdb/Mahrez to raphi e/salah -4 gives me 11 doublers and bb

That looks incredibly balanced and well set for your BB.

You got any spare ITB incase of price changes in your transfers?

Yea gives me .3 to play with but once I take out city assets for salah and raphina in 26 I’ll be back to 1.7. Trying to work around keeping my 2x fh and tc for anything that arises out of the blue between 31 and 37. I’d like to try and keep a free hit for 36 the big double week that would give max return potential rather than wildcarding into it. Maybe triple last gameweek just to see if it’ll give me some sort of a boost lol

Is it just me, or does anyone else look at Burnley's outstanding fixtures and think 'you could have a dozen DGWs to come and I still wouldn't touch you with a barge pole.'
    And another thing...
Where would you guys look for a 5th, occasional, defender please?
Wolves or Palace? Would like someone nailed as aiming to BB26
I prefer Palace's DGW fixtures and games either side over Wolves, but should Wolves draw Watford at home in a DGW27 that might change everything.
Other 4 defenders are TAA, Robbo, Cancelo and Digne FWIW

    Many thanks

Palace clean sheets are few and far between no matter what fixtures they have from what I see. At least wolves are keeping clean sheets so I’d say wolves a better option

Appreciate the comments. Wolves are definitely more solid, and as its realistically just a bench player, that's probably the way to go.

I don't think so. He got a knee in the back, and the manager was a bit vague, hence the flag. He didn't seem too troubled by it. I'm not panicking yet.

Got a knock in his back but finished the game, that's why he's flagged. I expect he'll play, hope so anyway

Without knowing anything much about BT’s business practices, I would strongly wager they’re worse than Amazon on the morality front. It’s the only company I’ve boycotted for an extended period of time - they don’t give a crap about anything except making money

If that’s the worst thing about BT, they’re basically angels compared to Amazon. Among many reasons to dislike them, I’ve given up trying to keep track of all the ways in which they abuse their staff in the name of productivity

Sorry, didn’t mean to get pedantic, just wanted to challenge Buzzbomb’s comment that they’re all as bad as each other. Like the OP, I was disappointed that Amazon got their hands on the PL. They really are scum

    DDG
    Digne, TAA, Cancelo, Regulion
Jota, Foden (C), Bowen, Moura, Gallagher
    DCL

    Steele, White, Dennis, King.

    A) Son for Moura
    B) Bruno for Moura
    C) Kane for DCL

Will end up with Salah + Son / Kane for doubles. Unsure if Bruno needed for United double.

If Senegal played in England where would they find their niche? Championship? League One? Lower?

I'm asking this out of curiosity because when I was younger I used to think international teams were the crème de la crème until I started seeing them getting turned over left, right and centre in pre-tournament warm up games by very ordinary opponents.

And what do you think the places of national teams like Russia, or Wales, or Austria, or the USA, in the PL?

      1. Yes Ndidi
        • 6 Years
        3 years, 10 months ago

I think he used Senegal as a topical subject, but my guess is that if you use the England national team, currently ranked 4th, as highly likely to be around mid-table, then Senegal (ranked 20th) might be expected to be a little lower. Wales, ranked 19th, since you're concerned that they might be left out, could be expected to be similar to Senegal. When you get down to the bottom 10% there are probably pub teams that could give them a decent game. It's all hypothetical though.

I don’t think the others understood your question which is an interresting one. I think they avoid regulation, like Egypt and my country Sweden too. England would have ended up behind the big three I think, but a very strange one to answer.. 🙂

Agreed, early. But fits nicely with match timescale.

And there's a slot attacking-left which suddenly doesn't have much cover (he has personally said he likes it there).
