Double Gameweek 25 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) continues this Sunday lunchtime, with Burnley v Liverpool, Newcastle United v Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur v Wolverhampton Wanderers kicking-off at 14:00 GMT.

The big team news comes from Turf Moor, where Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane return to Liverpool’s attack, alongside Roberto Firmino in Jurgen Klopp’s 4-3-3 formation.

That means Diogo Jota drops to the bench with new signing Luis Diaz.

Sean Dyche makes one change for Burnley, with Aaron Lennon coming in for Dwight McNeil.

At Newcastle, Eddie Howe makes two changes from Gameweek 24, with Dan Burn and Javier Manquillo in for Jamaal Lascelles and Matt Targett, who is ineligible.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa bring in Calum Chambers for the suspended Ezri Konsa.

Elsewhere, Rodrigo Bentancur makes his first start for Antonio Conte, as he replaces Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the engine room, while there are also changes at wing-back, with Matt Doherty and Ryan Sessegnon coming in for Emerson Royal and Sergio Reguilon, both of whom are substitutes.

For their opponents, Bruno Lage hands a first Premier League start to Luke Candle, with Rayan Ait-Nouri also returning to the XI for Marcal.

I’m trying to get my head around the logic. Hypothetically, if you had TC Sterling this week (likely low scoring week) would it have a greater benefit on rank than if you TC Salah and he got the same score?

On one hand it looks like no difference points wise, but it feels like it should make more of a difference haha

Pts define your rank so if you get same pts you will get the same rank gain

        Not true.

If you get 40 and everyone else gets 10, you gain 30. If you get 40 and everyone else gets 40, you gain nothing.

But you’re changing other people’s points which would if course change your rank. This is not the case in the preposed scenario.

Well the proposed scenario simplifies a lot of factors.

For example if you TC Sterling this week and C Salah next week you gain more than someone who had Pogba in Sterling's place and TC Salah next week.

Looking at the TC chip is isolation it doesn't matter.

      Yes, because of EO

      1. TomSaints

That’s the point though. How does EO affect it? I feel like it should but I don’t think it does and therefore anything other than TC Salah next week is stupidly risky

          • 9 Years

Actually, when you think of it, probably no effect as the Salah guys will catch up with what you gained.

    4. Rainer

Not if you still captain both.

18 gained from Sterling then *lost* on Salah.

      Points wise, no difference!

That's the point with eo though , very few Cpt Sterling for his haul but many on Cpt Salah if TC not on him. Sterling TC guy ahead easy

Yes, because even though you yourself end up on the same number of points, less people get the benefit of Sterling's points than Salah's points

See that’s what I think but I see a lot saying that’s wrong haha and I equally get where they’re coming from.

You still get the same point from the TC chip, it shouldn’t matter how you get those points

Putting some numbers to it - say Salah has EO of 40% and Sterling has EO of 2%.

18 points for Salah is the same as 18 points for Sterling so no difference for your points.

The points around you is what matters - others get 7 EO points for Salah's points which closes the gap on your rank, while for Sterling others get only 0.36 points. Clearly a difference.

    7. TomSaints

If I triple captain pow EO player A for 20 points and then in a later week every captains Player B for 20 points.

The outcome is still 20 points from TC, just that I get a big rank rise from played A then lose rank when player B hauls.

That's because you're looking at the gain from the TC in isolation. In your example, the week you play it you have 10 other players scoring + 20 from your TC.

          Mashed post halfway through....

So say the first week you have same players as everyone else, you've score a net +20. But say second week you bring in Player B so you have an identical team (but can't TC) then you'd still score 1/3 of the points meaning everyone else only gains 2/3 of the 20 on you

Obviously the Sterling 54 points would have a much greater effect on your OR.
The score you get each week doesn’t actually matter. It’s the score that others around you get in relation to yours that matters.
You can score 30 points in a GW and go up 100k places. But equally you could get 89 points and a red arrow.

      1. TomSaints

I’m not disagreeing as that was my thought going into this but I’ve seen a lot of others disagreeing.

It then seems Salah TC next week is the very safe choice but has limited benefit.

I’d love to see a more detailed article expand on this and show why

    10. fish&chips
      • 15 Years

It is the same. You would get a massive rank boost with sterling because you'd be up 100% of sterling's points against everyone that didn't TC him but then a massive rank loss with Salah because you would be down 100% of the points that salah gets against all the guys that captain salah. Overall you would rise in rank a lot but that would purely be related to the captain component generated from owning sterling who is quite big differential, which you would get irregardless of using TC on him or not

The logic supposedly is he works hard and offers more but honestly other than lack of injury I can't think of any attribute he has over ings, from workrate to assisting to finishing

Which means Watkins purely starts because Ings can't be relied on to stay fit. For me Ings is top quality and should play whenever he is available

As a Son owner I didnt expect a lot from this game, but rly Son could haul today in the way he plays. He had at least 3 chances in front of goal and 2 potential assists.
