We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points of the day in FPL Daily, a series that services weekdays where there is no press conference round-up or Premier League match.

CHELSEA KNOCKED OUT OF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Chelsea have been knocked out of the Champions League after losing to Real Madrid 5-4 on aggregate at the Bernabeu.

In a classic encounter, the Blues went 3-0 up through goals from Mason Mount (£7.5m), Antonio Rudiger (£6.2m) and Timo Werner (£8.6m), but efforts from Rodrygo and then Karim Benzema in extra-time put Carlo Ancelotti’s side into the semi-finals.

Reece James (£6.3m), meanwhile, was excellent on the right of a back three, while Werner followed up his brace of goals at Southampton at the weekend with a brilliantly taken strike in the second-half.

For FPL managers, tonight’s loss does at least ease the schedule for Chelsea and, in theory, should mean less rotation during the run-in.

Chelsea XI: Mendy, James, Thiago Silva, Rudiger, Loftus-Cheek (Saul 105), Kovacic (Jorginho 105), Kante (Ziyech 100), Alonso, Mount, Werner (Pulisic 83), Havertz

DIAS UNLIKELY TO START

Pep Guardiola has revealed Ruben Dias (£6.1m) will travel with the Man City squad for Wednesday’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Atletico Madrid.

The Portuguese skipper has missed the past six weeks through injury but returned to training on Monday.

However, the City boss was keen to point out that Dias will not start given his lack of full training and game time.

“He travels with us. From the beginning tomorrow? No. He did one training session after six weeks off. It is premature, but the fact he is back with the schedule we have is good. Everyone will be important and Ruben is.” – Pep Guardiola on Ruben Dias

There was also an encouraging update regarding Cole Palmer (£4.5m), who has missed several weeks with a foot injury.

“He is much, much better but I don’t think he will travel. I will finish the list later. Maybe if he feels good. He feels better and we tried to avoid surgery. The doctor says we will try to avoid it, hopefully…” – Pep Guardiola on Cole Palmer

KLOPP HINTS AT ROTATION

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has spoken to the media to preview Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Benfica and confirmed that there are no new injuries to report.

However, a bit of rotation could be on the cards given the Reds’ relentless schedule, with Ibrahima Konate (£5.1m), Luis Diaz (£8.0m) and Roberto Firmino (£8.7m) candidates to come into the starting XI.

“The next game has no influence on the line-up for tomorrow night, but the last game has. We have to see, a really super-intense schedule. No one injured as far as I know in this moment, but we need to have a look at who is fresh enough for this game. We see it as a super important game, we won the first leg 3-1 and I know for people who have nothing to do with the game, it’s halfway through and then you play City left and right of the game. And then it’s like the focus could be somewhere else – we see it slightly different, to be honest!” – Jurgen Klopp

Do you think there is more upside in general, for FH33 over FH36 v FH37?
Feels like there’s more potential for bigger scores this week but also bigger chance your FH team ends up scoring less than your old team. Any thoughts.

I've used my FHs so am considering BB this week (see post below).

I think 33 is good particularly for me because there's good fixtures for sgw teams and dgw teams

I wc’d in 31 but a few injuries and just don’t have the bench for bb this week. I have a healthy starting XI so no real need to FH, it’s just whether to go for some upside with the likes or Bruno, Newcastle and Kdb over the likes of Chelsea (who could easily double in 34)

Im doing BB33 and FH37 basically because I have lots of good single gw players this week, I also have more players that are good in 37 and more fixtures Id rather target in 36, team

That’s fair. Similar thinking but ill have a better 15 in 36 for BB and likely FH37 as well

I would BB if I hadn't burned it already, but I have so I am FH. You're right though, there is a very real chance with these doubles that single week players in our old teams will outscore the doublers, so a balanced approach is key. Toney for example I think is worth sticking with against Watford....Bowen is another (although I'm less convinced on him with their European games).

        Schmeichel
        Robbo Laporte Matip White
        Salah Saka Kulu Havertz Maddison
        Kane
        Foster Rudiger Cucho Weg

In the same boat of thinking. I’m leaning FH this week but admit I’m swayed that most people have written it off and like the idea of it being quite differential

I hadn’t considered it but will do a draft team. I can bench Rudiger / Havertz if I needed to and still be ok. Also feel id be inclined to going for triple Newcastle or more than one United option for the sake of it, not because I think they’ll score well

Im holding FH2 for 36 I think. Like the option of waiting to see what it at stake in the league at that point & adjusting accordingly; may want to redistribute Kane & Son funds due to weaker double

I also like the option to wait. 36 will be the week to BB for me so FH37 looks pretty good depending on fixture movements

    Ramsdale
    James Laporte Livra
    Bruno Sancho Saka Kulu Raph*
    Kane Laca

    (Sa* Broja Doherty* Digne*)
    1 FT & 1.5m

Raphinha to Barnes/Maddison for free? Or something else?

Will be using WC for GW34 and FH between 35-38.

I've not actually made the -4 move to bring in Barnes and Burn yet.

What are the pros and cons of

I have 2 fh’s and a BB left. My plan was to fh 33 and 36 and bb 37 but now thinking of waiting on my fh 33. Fixtures worry me in 33 - taking out sgw players for less than nailed / performing dbl gwers. Any advice please.

    Ramsdale (Dubravka)
    TAA Cancelo Rudi (Cash Doherty)
    Salah Saka Mount (Raph Ramsey)
    Kane Toney (Mateta)

Thinking of Raph to Barnes or FH?

On paper 3 doublers on the bench is an easy BB.

      The problems:

I doubt Sanchez will keep a CS against spurs or city

      Royal not nailed

Tark plays West ham and Southampton which are two quite tough games (saying that he has good attacking potential and the possibility of a CS)

KDH is probably the best pick but I can't see him scoring again tbh

    Which to go for...
    A) Doherty to Schar for free

Strategy with B is that the next week if Arsenal are still poor I can do Ramsdale and Saka to Foster and Son with the extra cash available.

0.0 ITB and 1FT. I could do Cash to Schar and becnh Weg?

    How dumb is this move:

My BB usually gives me nothing.

    Dennis --> Wood
    Kilman --> Dalot
    Digne --> Justin

At one point my boys were stars ⭐️

Dennis lost his starter job. Kilman's fixtures are not good anymore. Digne turned into fools gold and now injured. I can trade them all for 3 doublers. -8 but the boys I have are trash
